The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome all to the new pub. Hopefully the traditions from the last 606 will continue here in our new home. The only new rule I have really is, see that Tommy Bowe signed picture there above the bar? If anyone defaces that, they're barred. There'll be banter, indepth discussion, some rambling but above all mutual respect as always. It all looks very swish, but we still serve traditional beverages and food. So what'll it be?
Oh if you have any complaints by the way, don't look at me - speak to rugbydreamer cause she's a mod!
Now to fire up the jukebox...

Evening all. Was in earlier but got called away. Notch I think that new Ulster top is class. A touch of fluorescent orange would go amiss though. Are you doing your Ravenhill Review of the year on v2?

I am following it Hobo, just don't really understand all the @ and # stuff. If I tweet something and put @(somebodies name) in it, do they see it even if they don't 'follow' me?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
If you post something (Tweet) only people following you will see it.
However, if you put there address first ie @606v2rugby its like sending that person the message. Think of it like a email. Your followers wont see it.
If you retweet someone elses tweet, you are forwarding their message on to your followers.
So what you want to try and achieve is to send an email to someone (by using the @.....) and get them to retweet it to their followers (abbreviated to RT).
So for example, I sent Shane Williams the greatest ever winger poll and asked him to RT it. He did - the poll was then sent to all 18000 people who follow him.
As people saw the message and who it originated from, they either joined here to vote or started to follow me as well. I now have 83 followers - anything I tweet (posts without a @...), gets sent to these 83 people now.
Bit long winded but hope that helps!

Pete I joined it literally because I got emails from people who were reading my blog and asked if I would. Its the stupidest thing I've encountered.
Hobo, I was talking to Cari at the weekend and I was saying to her that I didn't think you were real Genuinely I thought you were just instant messaging updates from the forum!!

So now you know - I am "the stupidest thing Stag has encountered".
No its not instant - its a lot of bloody work! The admin team are working tirelessly to get new members.
The rugby board has got busier and still is - I just hope it continues.
we are without a doubt the most forward thinking of the sites with what we are doing on here - its just a shame that some people are so used to the familiarity of 606 and have gone to ja606.
Have you all seen the news feed at the top of the page?

No no no. Not you Twitter. Its basically just Facebook statuses.
I know its early but you know what I prefer this to old 606. I can do a lot more with the posts in terms of formatting, linking etc - stuff I've not even tried. The threads outside of the pub are free from Wums and actually generate debates.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening peeps. On the road to recovery after that weekend. No beer for a few days I think. I hope everyone got home without mishap, though the ferry back to Ireland didn't sound like a barrel of laughs.

I nearly opened a bottle of rum earlier, but decided on a cup of tea and some biscuits. Does that mean I am getting old?
Howya Hound, what do you reckon to Wasps getting Wentzel? Looks like a good signing to me.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Wentzel could be a good signing, but we need to strengthen the front row. Or at least see Trevor Woodman earning his corn by teaching the front rowers we do have to scrummage a lot better.
Looking forward to seeing how Nicky Robinson does as well. Plus the further development of youngsters like Jack Wallace, Will Matthews and Joe Launchbury.

[color=red]thanks prop for standing up for me pal. I don't fart in public.
Pete I'm on twitter. I am also studying the concept of social media for work. It most certainly isn't stupid and if used right is powerful. it is used stupidly sometimes (I don't really use it other than to view famous people)
People promoting stuff it's ideal to be able to give synopsis of links, blogs to entice people to click to your facebook or website etc.

I'm just using it for keeping abreast of what's going on in the celeb world really Mick. I guess it's only good for actually tweeting if you are selling/promoting something or if you are famous and have lots of people 'following' you.
Hound, I've heard good things about Launchbury, do you reckon he could be the real deal?

My brother sells animal health products and he uses Facebook for promotional purposes. He says it's quite good. He has his own account and the products have their accounts. If your subtle enough you can keep a presence without getting on people's nerves. I'd rather see a facebook advert than a flier any day.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning. I had booked the day off yesterday Glas, mainly to sort out the domestic stuff that didn't get done over the weekend.
To answer Pete from last night - Launchbury is a fine prospect, but that's all at the moment. He needs his game time managed. Staying injury free would help too; then again, as a squad Wasps picked up an awful lot of injuries in the second half of the season.
I've said before, having captain Tom Rees back will be a huge boost and also vice captain Rob Webber. A line up I would like to see given a chance at the start of next season would be
Wallace, Wade, Waldouck, Flutey, Varndell, Robinson, Simpson.
Taulafo, Webber, Broster, Shaw (or Birkett), Launchbury, Worsley, Rees, Ward-Smith.
We can then also use the likes of Payne, Lindsay, Cannon, Hart, Berry, Jewell and Daly. However squad depth will be a major concern again.

Hound, I was looking up Wasps' motto and this is the closest I got: "London Wasps fully supports the principle of equal opportunities and opposes all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination on the grounds of disability."
Is there a more catchy one?

Morning all.
Just pressed the snooze button on my alarm and now have five more minutes before I have to get up.
How are we all doing today.
Dreading work today but more dreading tomorrow where I've a conference with accountants to attend and speak at as well as a trip the dentist after that

I agree lucky. 'tis good though.
I have to race out the door in a minute and my FB photo upload from Friday and Saturday still has 11 minutes to run . I'm leaving the machine on, but don't know if they'll show up until I get home tonight to finish the process. And I didn't even try to load the 7s pics from Saturday.

Morning everyone. Really looking forward to the playoff at weekend. Playoffs were best thing to ever happen Magners League. I didn't give a fiddlers last time we won Magners League it lacked a sense of occasion.
Here's a question. Have we less need for the Pub on this forum than on 606?

Staggy - are you asking that because we've all met up now and can keep in touch with each other by other means? Or because of the way this site is set up?
Back in the office. My inbox is over the the limit, and I've a pile of things on my desk, but I feel surprisingly chirpy considering. At least I've a four day week now, and a three day week next week. Sadly more staff are leaving us. They've begun another Early Departure Scheme. It sucks

Cari - several reasons. 1) We all use the Facebook a a means of keeping in touch, posting videos, posting links and having non rugby chats. 2) There are no wums and good moderators on this site. On of the main reasons I used the pub was talking about rugby stuff to mates without the risk of wums. 3) Having a discussion about (for example) who played better in the HEC Final in the pub is great but will it take away from the rest of a very young board.
Oh an article - https://www.606v2.com/t5464-is-mallinder-jealous-of-magners-set-up#120223
