Tyson Fury apologizes, retracts statements made towards the WBC

Undefeated heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury has apologized to the WBC for any offense they may have taken regarding his recent comments.

“I would like to apologize to the WBC for the comments I made and any implications that resulted from them,” Tyson said. “Through no fault of my own I have been unable to fight since April with fights in September and February being cancelled. The entire situation and inactivity has left me extremely frustrated. The WBC title has meant a lot to me since I was a kid and I always wanted to fight for that green WBC belt and put my name with the greats like Ali, Leonard, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis who have held it. That passion to hold that belt and the frustration of being forced to be inactive for so long sometimes leads me to say things that I shouldn’t and I would like to take this opportunity to retract those comments I made. I do not believe that the WBC or any of its members acted improperly in the heavyweight division, but having fought a WBC eliminator (which I know and understand was not a final eliminator), and with the title being vacated, I genuinely believe I am the best heavyweight and deserving of a shot.

Out of interest if an eliminator isn't a final eliminator isn't it just a fight that will effect rankings like any other?

It seems the WBC have had about 3 separate final eliminators for Vitali's belt.

What did Tyson say about the WBC? If he utterly trashed them then it might be the first sensible thing he ever said and now he's retracting it.

If he ever holds that belt it will be the worst thing ever to happen in boxing!

Well I guess that's a pretty random thing to allege. I could understand if Bermane Stiverne said that, as he has been messed around but Fury hasn't really done much to earn his shot. This is partly David Haye's fault.

Still though, an enemy of the WBC is a friend of mine

Khan has talent, has fought some of the best in his division and is often in exciting fight, Fury has none of that.

As for Haye.....I'm happy I was right about him 5 years ago. Hearn is hypocrite although I doubt you feel he is a good mate of yours and is only in the sport because he's a fan.

I have no problems with Brits.  I  have never shown dislike for Hatton, Khan, Froch etc etc
