Scarlets vs Harlequins
First topic message reminder :
Didn't see a thread on his, which is surprising as it has the potential to be the game of the weekend. Both teams are chasing a place in Amlin Challenge Cup (better than a kick in the teeth).
Scarlets: Aled Thomas, Kristian Phillips, Gareth Maule, Scott Williams, Jordan Williams, Rhys Priestland, Gareth Davies, Phil John, Emyr Phillips, Samson Lee, George Earle, Jake Ball, Aaron Shingler, John Barclay, Rob McCusker (c)
Replacements: Ken Owens, Rob Evans, Jacobie Adriaanse, Johan Snyman, Josh Turnbull, Rhodri Williams, Adam Warren, Gareth Owen
Harlequins: Mike Brown, Ollie Lindsay-Hague, Matt Hopper, Tim Molenaar, Ugo Monye, Nick Evans, Karl Dickson; Joe Marler, Dave Ward, Will Collier, Nick Kennedy, George Robson, Luke Wallace, Chris Robshaw (C), Nick Easter
Replacements: Joe Gray, Mark Lambert, Paul Doran Jones, Charlie Matthews, Tom Guest, Sam Stuart, Ben Botica, Tom Williams
Referee: Jerome Garces (France)

Ooooooh close game; very good game we have here
Barclay 3 turn overs and Earle has 2
Both have been absolutely amazing so far, Brown i there only danger man. He is playing really well fair do' to him, so very well worked off loads
Scrums have been back and forth but Doran Jones is doing a better job on the tight. Why isn't he first choice or in the England set up anymore?

Re: Scarlets vs Harlequins
It is worth mentionning the ref could have stopped the action before Quins 2nd try, there was a potentially dangerous neck injury to Maule.

Doran-Jones certainly knows what he's doing on the tight, you could put it that way.

15-19 - you feel there's a lot more to come from both sides.

Nobody can see that better than the ref, so I wonder what he's asking?

Try given. Wonder if Quins are the first to get the fourth?

More great play. Quins look good with ball in hand, silly off-loads have cost them a few times. Defence definitely optional.

Blah, missed the start of the second half. Girlfriend has yet to learn the lesson not to chat when the rugby is on, what did I miss?

Did Preistland turn down Leciester? He would be a perfect fit there!

Too many points missed through kicks today, could cost them.

Absolutely crazy.
Earle was having a great game and subbed him instead of Ball too.

I think Priestland has been incredibly poor today.

I'm surprised they don't have faith in Adriaanse, Samson Lee looks tired.

What about Rhodri Jones to, he's still 3rd choice yet didn't look out of his depth in the AIs, maybe he needs to move if wants more Welsh caps.

Oh dear Priestland. His stupid kicks and missed kicks at goal is what has cost the Scarlets today. He doesn't deserve to be near the Wales squad.

Shame that a great game had to end by a dodgy decision at best.

Entertaining game in the whole but a bit of a sour end for the Scarlets. Well done Quins and hard luck to Scarlets - could have gone either way really.

Re: Scarlets vs Harlequins
Good game but bluddy hell our kicking game just isn't up to scratch, a lot of mindless kicking. It's the same with all the regions and the national team. We need to get in some good kicking coaches in ffs. Priest land aside because he played very well today and kicked well in open play but Scott and Kristian?
Why did we go for these two kicks, i knew Jordan wasn't going to get them from that distance; why didn't we go for ground.
We were the much better team but just didn't finish off on half of our chances. I'm gutted but Harlequins had the composure to win, one thing we don't have.

Re: Scarlets vs Harlequins
Excellent game and great handling by both sides especially considering the conditions. Disagree with jhamer that Scarlets were 'the much better team'. Thought it was very even.
Nice to see two sides willing to play rugby. Scarlets really looked dangerous even attacking from deep. I love watching Quins play.
Well done Quins! Dave Ward looks like one to watch.
Can't see beyond an English side winning the Amlin.

Re: Scarlets vs Harlequins
Lets face it this game could of gone either way to be honest i thought when the scarlets went 2/3 points in front with about 10 minutes to go, that scarlets would win.
Can some please answer me this question? is Rys priestland Wales best 10?
Is he better that Biggar? In my mind Biggar is the better 10.
But the commantator did say that Gatland did prefair Priestland because he is the beat 10 in Wales.

Gutted with the result, thought a tmo/reversed pen was in order, but hard to tell where I was sat. I can't fault the Scarlets, we gave it everything, if Priest land had managed to squeeze that second conversion attempt in, and I though he had for a second, or if Jordan had hit one of those long range attempts, it would have set up a real grandstand finish.
Congratulations to Quins for the win, and to their travelling suooort , who were in fine voice.

Maj, Bigger is a better goal kicker, and slightly better tactical kicker, but Rhys is better with ball in hand, and spotting gap for himself and others. Seeing Halfpenny is Team Wales goal kicker, that just nudges Rhys ahead IMO.

You are joking Biggar has poor backs outside him, he better in all departments including tackling and these days he has the top 2 inches lacking in Preistland like that kick in the last minute, I would have thought he learnt from the games against Aus for Wales you don't boot the ball away. The guy should not be in the squad he is poor.

Bad luck Scarlets, good match. I'd ignore Luck of the Irish, he won't be here long. Good luck in the RABO
Shame the breakdown didn't go well, but in the end, the best team won- Scarlets should have been down to 14 all match, and missed kicks are part of the game. It's a shame but we've also lost games due to them so we know what that feels like

Well done to Scarlets on a really tough game.
But you can't go into ifs and buts when one Scarlets player should probably have been red carded and the Shingler try was dodgy to say the least.
