Goal-line technology, extra assistants and, of all things, snoods are on the International Football Association Board's agenda for their next meeting.

Snoods have been put under any other business for when football's lawmakers meet on 5 March and, to the horror of some stars, may be banned.

Samir Nasri, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor are all fans of the winter fashion accessory.

"We want a debate whether it could be dangerous," said a Fifa spokesman.

"There may be a safety issue - if for example a player was running through on goal and an opponent grabbed his snood, that could pose a potential danger to his neck."

They've all gone soft

Roy Keane on players wearing snoods

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has claimed snoods help prevent injury to his players, while his Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson has banned his players from wearing them.

United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has said on social networking website Twitter: "You won't see a Man Utd player wearing a snood."

Former Old Trafford midfielder Roy Keane is also not a fan of snoods.
He said of players wearing the snood: "They've all gone soft. I don't know how they do it and focus on the game, it's weird. That's the way the game's gone."

On the subject of fashion, Fifa also wants to make sure that if a player wears tights then they are the same colour as their shorts.

The introduction of 'vanishing spray' - which allows the referee to mark out a line a defensive wall from a set piece should not cross - is also up for debate.

The spray is used in Brazil and South America and evaporates after a minute.

I was at Fulham the other year when the extra official was being tested, from where I sat just behind the goal the guy never really got involved in the game and when the ball went down the far end he went for a walk about to the edge of the penalty box just to pass the time I suppose, the only decision he did make was to tell the keeper to move the ball back six inches (150mm) when he went to take a goal kick because the ball was not on the line he made no calls on which way corners or goal kicks should have gone the whole thing was not done in a very convincing manner.
If these guys are going to become permanent part of the game they need to help the ref out a lot more, I believe that four linesmen would be a better idea so that each runs his/her own half if they gave one linesman each end the responsibility to look for offsides just to stop any confusion also the linemans on the far side from a corner kick could come around and stand on the goal line to help out with anything going on away from the ref.
Its bad enough that the players wear gloves now snoods and tights somebody needs to grow some round things.

I think that any team in the bottom three, should have to make at least four of their outfield players wear comedy earmuffs.

But only in April and May.

Snoods are ridiculous, players that wear these need to strap on a pair and run around a bit more. I never get the wearing gloves thing either, I always get really hot running around in them it cant be comfortable!

You would expect that players wouldn't need such things, but each to their own. The 'danger' issue is ridicolous.

I don't mind the snood. The one I hate is gloves and a short sleeved shirt. WHY?

Its obvious why mate, fingers toes and your head are where heat escapes your body, your arms don't get anywhere near as cold as your fingers

I remember watching a program where they had a guy stand in a walk in fridge with loads of layers of clothes on but no shoes or socks or gloves and then had him in it the next day with just gloves shoes and a hat and shorts and his temperture stayed higher for a lot longer

I seen the programme it was brainiac. I know why they do it but I hate it. It looked ridiculous.
