Retired more men than social security.
Apollo Creed's line from Rocky IV, but what boxer has retired the most men?
It seems Mosley is set to retire, he joins Margarito, Oscar and Hatton as boxers that Pacquiao has retired in his recent run of fights.
Barrera and Morales announced their retirements after Pacquiao beat them too but have subsequently made comebacks.
But I want to know which boxer has retired the most amount of boxer?

LOL - it's not a good thing - beating up on legends at the end of their careers.

I'm sorry
But i thought we were going to cap the amount of Manny and Floyd articles?
I'm sorry, but i'm disgusted this poster is allowed to continue with this. And you can forget this thread not being about the aforementioned fighter, he tried to worm him into every effing article.
I am again disgusted he is allowed to continue to poison this forum.

Will take a giant leap of faith and assume this is a genuine question rather than a more than tenuous attempt to cream over Manny again but off the top of my head think a fair few Tyson opponents didn't fight again after losing to him. Can certainly think of Spinks and Bruno but would guess there are a few more my memory refuses to dredge up.

This is not about Manny or Floyd, it a question of which boxer has retired the most amount of boxers.

Agreed. I know of no other boxer who beats up legends at the end of their careers and gets credit for it.

No , it isn't a serious question. On the contrary, it is more Manny propaganda. You just raised this issue at one of the ' news ' threads, so if it's relevant there it is not relevant here. Besides, the question cannot be addressed scientifically. There are many factors which influence a fighter's decision to retire.
If this strays into Manny territory I'm going to merge it into the ' news ' thread, wherein you first raised the subject.

It doesn't matter for what reason why they retired or whether it is a good thing or not, I just want to find who has the most.

Good call with Tyson. I'll have a look at his record and see how many he has had.

It will be highly correlated with who has fought the most opponents. I would start there.
However, there will be outliers - such as cynically managed fighters, who specifically target faded legends and then bribe them into unreasonable contractual obligations so they can skew their record to appear greater than they are.

Well it won't be Manny, so why did you cite him ? The question is particularly pertinent since you were, a few minutes ago, rubbing your knees together like an excited schoolgirl and announcing that Manny had retired Mosley, ( at the news thread, ) totally oblivious to the fact that overwhelming worldwide opinion is that Mosley should have retired before he ever got in the ring with Pacquiao.

On a slight tangent, if a boxer retires a lot of other boxers, what does that say about him. He likes fighting over the hill names to prop up his resume?

Read the title of the thread, then read the question it asks.
Then post a reply relevant to that question.

Why don't you stop telling other members what to do in that superior tone of yours ? NOBODY is guilty of having disrupted and hijacked so many threads as you, either here or at the BBC. You are in no position to assume the high ground.

Wrong. My ' job ' as you put it, is to implement the rules of the forum, which were there long before I came here. You infringe those rules - morally, at the very least - and so I have to step in. Did it ever occur to you that I'd rather discuss boxing ?

Sorry if I touched a nerve Scott, I see you are a sensitive chap. Sorry.
Back on topic.....When D4 says Manny has retired those guys, do we take them being shot/old into account?
Has Manny ever retired a fighter in their prime?
I will have a look into it.

Re: Retired more men than social security.
Morning folks.
Thought I’d drop by to remind everyone of the new policy regarding ‘Manny/Mayweather’ threads, as noted the boards were descending into a large number of threads degenerating into the same old arguments regarding these two boxers and it became a ‘my dad’s bigger than your dad’ state of affairs (though in this case more a ‘your dad’s juiced, your dad’s a bottler’).
Due to this a decision was taken to restrict all Mayweather/Manny news (unless a major story that warrants an individual discussion) on the two threads that had been created.
This article raised reservations that it broke those rules and as a result was locked by Azania.
That is not to say though that attempts to intentionally hijack similar threads so that they too get locked or moved will go unnoticed.
That is also unacceptable, we have taken decisive and positive steps to make this board better for ALL involved whoever they are a fan of and in return we expect that you abide by these rules.
Thank you
Hero
