Should unsold tickets be discounted?
Very disappointed that the Millennium Stadium crowd was 66,000 yesterday. A home match and the first in the tournament for the defending champions.
Surely something should be done to make it a sell out?

Re: Should unsold tickets be discounted?
I feel too many tickets are handed out to sponsors and minor rugby clubs, just the other day someone was selling 20 or so tickets, why they were even able to get their hands on that many tickets through a rugby club I don't know. If they fail to sell then there are no shows.

Is Italy normally sold out?

I don't remember 8,000 vacant seats vs Italy in the past. Certainly nowhere near that many.

Re: Should unsold tickets be discounted?
That was a lot of empty seats. Problem is if Wales start discounting unsold ticketsa, it creates a mind-set for people to wait until 24 hours before game time (or whatever rules are put in place) to see if they can get tickets cheaper. I don't think Wales should cheapen the product (assuming it is priced correctly).

Re: Should unsold tickets be discounted?
Good point. I'm just disappointed that they couldn't manage a sell out. It's not exactly a foregone conclusion anymore that we'll beat Italy. They beat 2 big teams last year and they could have sneaked a late win yesterday.
Ah wait I just realised....
A Cardiff City Premier league home game and a Swansea premier league game on at the same time is going to have a big affect.

Re: Should unsold tickets be discounted?
Apparently the attendance was 8000 up on the attendance from two years ago?

Since 2011 women have been allowed to watch rugby matches and more recently women have been allowed to play rugby.
You'll have to get used to it now.

To be fair to Breadvan it did seem like the cameraman did focus on the ladies in the crowd!

Re: Should unsold tickets be discounted?
Italy very rarely sells out and with 2 other home games everytime we play Italy people will decide to choose one of the 'bigger' games.

Re: Should unsold tickets be discounted?
yes i definitely think unsold tickets should be discounted.
or offered at 1/3 the value to active u14-u18 players. or local schools.
doesnt make sense to have empty seats. if sarries can get 61.5k attendance at wembley for a heineken cup group stage by sensible tiering of tickets, wales should be able to fill MS and improve the atmosphere without a hit to their pocket books.
bigger issue is presumably scotland playing at murrayfield. what are the figures like for 6N there?
scotland do have an excuse though, insofar as they havent won 2 back-to-back 6Ns, and are dealing with a different national sporting dynamic.

No quins, bigger isn't playing Scotland at Murrayfield, because if we play Italy at home we also play Scotland and home and France so those are the two bigger games I meant.

Re: Should unsold tickets be discounted?
i was meaning this is presumably a bigger issue for scotland and murrayfield generally, irrespective of this particular year's fixtures. sorry if not clear.
