Oh absolutely. Failure to score at home against a pretty crap side has to hurt.

This is the issue though. I'd argue United are closer to the Norwichs of the league than the Chelseas and Man Citys right now

Moyes celebrating like United just won the league, where they have just taken the lead against the worst side in the league with a deflected goal

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
Is it a coincidence that Utd had almost 60 crosses none converted before Januzaj came on and they popped in 2 goals.
Both goals came from the initial, much more dangerous ball into the box! Something Young couldn't muster up for 70 odd minutes. Whilst Moyes may want to keep the youngster fresh and not have too much pressure on him...the simple fact is Utd are a different proposition with him out wide than when Young is there.

Ludicrous. Rooney and RVP both got complacent, wasting the opportunity to keep the ball late on

Although Moyes did well at Everton there was no proof he would make it at the top. He never won anything with Everton - other managers manage to win a cup or two.
Still I think they have to give him another season. But next season there may be an exodus including Rooney if they don't make the Champions League or even the Europa Cup.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
Oh dear! Moyes must be gutted!! Van Persie (Utd's title winner last season) injured and looking nothing like he was last year...Rooney disinterested for much of the game..Vidic was a passenger for both goals, they will be well shot of him next year (though as I said earlier I wouldn't play him again this season if I was Moyes).
Shining light was Januzaj who needs to play ahead of Young!
Moyes needs to drop players next game and make a statement...if he continues down the 'we were unlucky' path he is setting himself up for the sack. Needs to be cold & brutally honest about some of his players and where the club are at in my opinion.

You're home. You're playing the team bottom of the league. You have a near fully-fit squad. You have 31 shots. You have 75% possession.

Yeah mata was poor
By the way Rooney has had enough.. He started the season of so well. now he just doesn't care.
Juanzi is the best player they have on form... and guess what Moyes does..
Yep waits until the 65th minute to bring him on.... He made the difference- but when you leave it that late and only have a 1 goal lead - there is allways a chance you could leak one.

Other managers....like who?!
Outside of the Top 4/5 of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd ...6 teams have won the League Cup since 2000....4 of those are now in the Championship. Tottenham & Swansea are the other 2 winners....Swansea are struggling this year.
The FA Cup.... has been won twice by teams outside the perennial 5....Wigan & Portsmouth....one is now League 1 the other in Championship...
Ask Everton fans what they would rather have had....a cup success and relegation or consistently fighting for a Champions League birth/Europa League spot which resulted in 4 European campaigns. Easy to look at Moyes and say he doesn't know how to win....but how many of the top managers would know how to run a team with the budget & constraints David had whilst at Everton...
He built the foundations for a club which consistently does well in the Premiership and hasn't had to sell its soul to a foreign owner to do it. In these modern times I would argue that's a very high achievement.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
Yes Moyes deserves blame, but those Utd players especially the defenders should be ashamed to pull on the shirt. No passion, no desire.

Is this not proof that Moyes can do very little!? As I have said think he does need to make changes and sharpish...yet this was a team whose top striker was putting them away last year...isn't this year...their second striker (Rooney) doesn't look at all bothered and seemingly has one eye on the exit door whilst their defensive stalwart for so many years has completely lost his legs this season and seems done at the top level.

I tell you what, watch Rooney celebrate Carrick's goal and tell me he doesnt care!
I still put that down to RVP and Rooney both assuming Fulham wouldnt score again, they both tried silly flicks near goal when they just needed to wind down the clock.
The whole game was set up for United to have to break them down, they did that. The players have to take responsibility for then screwing it up

The problem Moyes has is twofold. Yeah United are worse, but Everton are also better without him and playing much nicer stuff.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
I think anyone blaming Rooney is off the mark(I know i said he deosnt care- but well he has done for the majority of the season so even if he isnt my comment was wrong). he has been outstanding this season. I still think he has lost some form- but then that may be due to fitness(as he was off for a bit) over caring.
I still think it would take a mighty amazing character to still be 100% motivated in the team. He does seem a bit zapped.
And I cant see him signing again

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
That warrants switching off for the second half of the season? .... The guy hasn't put a shift in for about 8 weeks now; people always seem to overlook the fact that Rooney is your definition of a 'patchy world class player'...he goes through peaks & troughs like there's no tomorrow.
I get what you mean but if that's the reason that Utd are not in a relegation fight then how does Ferguson get so much credit for the title win last year? Was it him getting the best out of an average squad...no...it was because Van Persie had a World Class season...take him away and Utd would have been 3/4th at best!

I wouldn't say that Everton are much better without him, the only way to judge that is the long term effect Martinez has and how they react to losing half their team when their loans finish.

Pulis did well at Stoke, maybe Man Utd should have gone for him?
Curbishley did well at Charlton.
Allardyce did well at Bolton.
Moyes did well at Everton.

lets say rooney has won them 10 pts(that is a very prudent estimate)
Ok they may not be in the relegation battle - but that would put them only just above it
and owen his form only dipped once he came back from injury.. so i think my original comment was unfair.
the problem could also be that mata and rooney are trying to occupy the same space.
