I didn't know that...
Was reading about the passing of Phillip Seymour Hoffman and there was article talking about stars who's died in the middle of filming (he was doing something dreadful like he Hunger Games) and alongside the usual suspects, Heath Ledger, Oliver Reed, Brandon Lee, the article mentioned Chris Farley (who if nothing else, if famous for having his name mentioned in the blurb for this film section on the forum).
Turns out, Farley was in line for a major voiceover role and when he died it had to be given to someone else. Mike Myers got the job and went on to make a squidgillion dollars as the voice of Shrek. Honestly can't say I've ever seen a Chris Farley movie, but given the stuff he's appeared in, he looks like a p!ss poor version of John Candy and I just wonder how big Shrek would have been if Farley hadn't died and had gone on to do the voice.

One of my favorite actresses Carole Lombard died in a plane crash just before she started "They all kissed the bride"..
Role went to Crawford and helped resurrect her career!!

Talking of Candy. Didn't he die during the filming of Canadian Bacon?

yes he did Stella.
And Farley was what he was. And for me, I think his films are stupidly brilliant.
Tommy Boy really is great - I'm not joking.

I have a soft spot for Beverley Hills Ninja Adam. Rubbish but awesome at the same time.

Am sure I've seen footage of a Saturday Night Live sketch where Farley are Patrick Swayzee are male strippers. The joke being that Farley is fat and shouldn't be stripping. It was rubbish.
However, Swayzee's feathered mullet in that sketch is a thing of unspoilt beauty and really needs to be seen to be believed. Imagine Swayzee's hair in Roadhouse combined with Gibson's hair in Lethal Weapon 1. Utterly irresistible.

His addiction was a sickness and it destroyed his life.
I watched a really good E! Hollywood True Story about him and he was apparently an incredibly generous and noce guy - he used to volunteer at soup kitchens etc. He had an addiction that killed him but unlike Belushi, he was by all accounts someone who gave back to his community.
Just because he was SNL and was compared to Belushi, doesnt mean that he doesnt deserve the same regret of loss than other addicts.
He wasted his life but he also did a load of good in the time he was alive. Could the same be said of most celebrity addicts?

Drug addiction is not a sickness, but that's another matter.
Chris Farley was in Coneheads and Waynes World 2, two great films! As stated above, he was pretty awesome but quite rubbish as well.
