England vs Ireland, Part 2
First topic message reminder :
For continuing discussion of Ireland vs England in Round 3 of the Six Nations
Previous thread; https://www.606v2.com/t51752-england-vs-ireland
Ireland have released various players to the provinces; starting for Ulster against the Scarlets on Friday are Paddy Jackson, Luke Marshall, Darren Cave and Iain Henderson. Leinster have named Jack McGrath, Sean Cronin, Martin Moore, Mike McCarthy, Rhys Ruddock, Jordi Murphy, Eoin Reddan, Ian Madigan and Fergus McFadden in their team to face Newport-Gwent Dragons. Tommy O'Donnell and Felix Jones will feature for Munster.
There's a lot of competition, mainly for the spots on the bench and possible starts later in the tournament. Can Madigan oust Paddy Jackson? Can Jordi Murphy or Rhys Ruddock force their way in ahead of Tommy O'Donnell? Can McFadden or Simon Zebo force their way into the back three? Who will replace the injured Dan Tuohy; Iain Henderson, Mike McCarthy or Donnacha Ryan? The latter is back from injury and likely to play some part for Munster.
Dan Tuohy has been ruled out of the tournament while Keith Earls, Luke Fitzgerald and Tommy Bowe are still injured and everyone is praying Johnny Sexton doesn't pick up a knock; he's expected to be riding the pine for Racing Metro.
Any English posters want to update us on their squad?

These hybrid pitches have to be the future at the MS and Murryfield. Less time wasted with props slipping.

Another waste. Our back-line is far too deep, Farrell has gone back to safety first mode.

Ireland's attack is no existant. Kicking away when we are in the 22. Worrying

Indeed. Sometimes scores just don't reflect the greatness of a game. I expect a tougher second half.

Game thats there to be one by either side! Ireland discipline really good for the first 20 and then wayward in the last 20... England still mixing mistakes with magic. Ireland centres very good.

Absolutely nothing in this at all. Blistering defences. England need to be more clinical and convert their chances.

Usually it's ignored if he does well in the scrum, then gets slated if it goes against.
The MS and MF are getting the hybrid pitches aren't they? Scotland are getting theirs in the summer I think. Not sure about Wales.

The set move Schmidt gave us off that lineout? The loop, cross-field kick and offload to Kearney? Damn near perfect, if it had come off he would take the credit.

Very tense.
W're lucky to be only 3-0 down at half time.

I don't think that Sexton has been very good myself. He and D'Arcy have been ordinary. BOD has looked excellent but Ireland really need to step up here as we know that England will.
Still think that the use of the bench's will settle the match.

Very close, and as a neutral, I'm enjoying this. Have to say I'm a bit mystified by Jonny May - aside from the botched try, he seems to only run sideways!

Happy to go in only 3 points down, could have been a lot worse but I hope JS can can come up with something to unlock the English defense.

The last 20 minutes of this game will be worth watching.
36 has not played well. Mike Brown is a wonderful player who needs to stop niggling everyone he plays against. Very impressed with the defences indeed.

Not all, some get praised for their good work, while anything bad gets talked down. Mentioning no specific players or nationalities

Doesn't make it right just because you can get away with it. He just comes off making himself look worse than anything. He's not doing himself any favours.

The two 15's have been excellent but I would say Brown has been the better, really excellent vision and had he had better back up after his break then it was a certain try for England.

Why?
Why was that Browns fault, how do you know BOD didn't say something?

I cant remember brown ever not getting through the first tackle attempt.
The lads need to react around him though. They need to have the belief he will get through a tackle or two and get up to his level so he can pass.

Re: England vs Ireland, Part 2
This is a tighter game than i thought it was going to be.
Mike Brown and Rob Karney, both having a great game hard to seperate which one is having the better game at the mo.
Ireland not doing so well in the scrum at the moment. would have thought Ireland would of had an advantage there to be honest.
The battle between Danny Care and Connor Murry is looking interesting, Care just shading it at this point.

Yeah it is Nathan, just Marler has been criticised heavily for some time...but I really think he's becoming a very good international prop now...hes scrummed well, carried hard, rucked well etc..but its just ignored.

murrey should be pinged for playing the 9 at scrum time, he constantly pushes care around and pulls him out of the way.
