STARS ARE IN ENGLAND'S FAVOUR IN MARCHGustav Holst (Cheltenham lad) wrote 'Jupiter' the joybringer. So it must be an England 6n in March.
The stars are aligned.
Britain will enjoy “fantastic” views of Jupiter next month. University College London announced the planet will be visible through binoculars. A spokesman said: “You'll be able to see that Jupiter is distinctly non-star-like and you should be able to make out the Galilean moons of Jupiter - the four largest moons.” The Times

If an American Paddy could pass that test then he / she should run for President of Ireland, or at least of the IRFU.

Anyway...are you English boys using us poor Irish men as target practice and car crash test dummies for your usual shenanigans with the Welsh???
You're using us to warm up? Not enough Welsh on the threads yet? Nope - I've noticed that too. All the legendary Welsh firebrands of the past seem to have vacated the building.
I'll try to act like a Welshman if that is required. But I too will firstly have to warm up. They burn hotter than we Irish do. They're blue flame basterauds, them lads. Wrong colour on the shirts guys.

In the olden days of yore (BBC 606) I could'a actually created a new alias as a mad Welshman just for the occasion (I think??? Could I? I forget the rules of that place - but they were much more anarchic about rules there)
Nowadays you'd get banned for double jobbing your identity. But I'd have such fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We treated them like wild dogs unfortunatley, gregor. My apologies in advance. You see we brought them over to Dublin but didn't feed ourselves to them. Which is dangerous!!!!!!!!!!..... they is hungry now. Ravenous. They is mad!!!! Tempers are starting to rise!!!!!!!!!! France was their Starter dish. They want their dinner now.
If they get to London before self-destructing on rage - they'll be a handful, gregor. Just saying' is all. Keep your women and children folk away from the game and strictly no knives and forks...or salt... at HQ.

It was the Portuguese, for example, that brought chilies to India.... (Vindaloo being an 'Indian' dish of Portuguese origin, for example).

I'm not sure how you can equate 'good value for the win' with a 'homer ref'.GunsGerms wrote:Cyril wrote:Don't worry yourself rodders I'm only replying in like to Guns and his concerted effort to denigrate England's win on all threads Apparently the ref was a homer and the England side is full of foreigners, don't you know?
Go back to bed Cyril. I already said England were good value for their win. Stop being so needy.
Sounds like a GE comment with the usual reservations.

Of all Joubert reffed games over 80% have been won by the home side. That is a fact. The figure is more like 50% for Rolland for example. Joubert is a homer ref. England won, get over it.

Doesn't the home side generally win? It's hardly as if he gave all decisions to England is it. It just sounds bitter tbh. Did you finally see what we were on about with Brown by the way?

Re: England vs Ireland, Part 2
I watched the game again and without doubt that was a humdinger! It was tense and exciting from start to finish, played at explosive pace and with lots of adventure. There were a fair few errors, mostly caused by superb defence, and a lot that was breathtaking. It was the sort of game where you just want to thank all the players for an amazing spectacle.
And Wales in a fortnight is likely to be very similar imo.

Exactly, surely if anything those stats highlight that Rolland (an incompetent ref I cannot stand who it still staggers me is allowed to ref France games) over-penalises the home side if anything.

You keep coming out with this homer thing but barring a few mistakes for both sides there's nothing really to suggest this. By saying it you're detratcing form a great game and performances by both teams.

I have already said Brown played well and that England were good value for their win. Are England fans usually this needy?
You keep coming out with this homer thing but barring a few mistakes for both sides there's nothing really to suggest this. By saying it you're detratcing form a great game and performances by both teams.
Not bothered going over it again. Read back if you really care.
I've read what you've said. I think it comes across as wanting something out of Irelands control that lead to the loss in a game you thought you'd win reasonably comfortably.

Looks like Fofana will be out for the rest of the 6 nations and Parra will be banned. Wonder will Ireland be playing France at just the right time?

We'll need a few more than that. If we can drop them to 12 on the field of play, we'll have a good chance

I think you just crave compliments. England played well, Brown played very well. Happy?
I have said millions of times that the reason Ireland lost is because they didnt turn the screw at 10-3 up not because Joubert is a homer. You need to factor that in and Im sure they did.

6N is between Ireland and England now, with an Irish flying start on points difference.
Wales 3rd France 4th. Is my prediction.

Exactly, surely if anything those stats highlight that Rolland (an incompetent ref I cannot stand who it still staggers me is allowed to ref France games) over-penalises the home side if anything.
Ever think that might be because he's one of the only elite referees who speaks fluent French? Fair enough he's not allowed to ref Ireland games having been born and lived in Ireland his whole life, as well as representing them at international level, but it would be kind of unfair to France not to give them the referee who speaks the best French for at least a reasonable proportion of their games.
These posts always miss out on the fact all of the home nations already have a massive advantage when they play France with a ref who only speaks English.

Because he's half French.
I wouldn't expect him to ref France any more than I would Ireland.
But being able to speak the lingo appears to gloss over lineage.

Nigel Owens doesn't speak English! That's laughable. He speaks his owen language - and it's Nigelish.
And great fun it is too.

No he isnt he is Irish. Born in Ireland, lived all his life in Ireland and represented Ireland in rugby. Doesnt get much more Irish that that. I assume given his dad is French that he has family in France but equally its possible Wayne Barnes or Nigel Owens have family in England, Scotland, Wales or even possibly Ireland. Who cares.
Kaplan may have relatives in Zimbabwe, Namibia or Israel etc. Steve walsh in OZ and NZ, Dickinson in NZ or England etc. blah blah blah blah.

Very true. It's his name that seems to make him double trouble. But a number of refs will have double trouble backgrounds without the obvious name helping people identify it.
Besides - I always say that no ref is neutral. They're human and they know the connotations so there is always a theoretical chance that a Welsh ref reffing a game against Italy and France might know the connotations needed to give Wales a better shot at something than France.
There is always a reason why a ref could be classed as biased and things that ref could do throughout a number of games to aid one side over another.
