Tag Team Break Ups
After the split of yet another Tag team in Prime Time Players. It seems to me like another tag team split that will benefit neither superstar and will both end up jobbing for years to come.
Seems to happen to every tag team in the modern day. Tag Teams in the past stayed together throughout. The likes of LOD, Demolition. How can you build tag teams up to be as memoriable as these teams if you tear them apart at the first opportunity.
Got me thinking about other tag teams where neither superstars have gone on to better things after a split and wanted to hear some of your examples
I'll start it off with Cryme Tyme! As a tag team great, had the traditional combo of smaller guy takes the beating JTG before a power tag to the big heavy shad gaspar. Not enough personality individually but together suited well with a good gimmick for modern day

Or one gets a decent level of success while the other ends up in mid card obscurity:
Edge & Christian imo are in the category

Re: Tag Team Break Ups
There are very few tag teams (I can't think of any) where both go on to reach a high level. One nearly always outshines the other by some way.
Michaels & Jannety
Hart & Neidhart
Bubba-Ray & D'von
Miz & Morrison
Scott & Rick Steiner
Stevie Ray & Booker T

Re: Tag Team Break Ups
I would have thought the most successful ever would have been the Hollywood Blonds?
As for Enforcers suggestion of Miz And Morrison - which one outshone the other?

Re: Tag Team Break Ups
Miz definatly has had more success. But Morrison is probably more favourably remembered.
Dont know if it counts but the New Nexus and the Corre. None of those guys barring Punk(Who was already well established) went on to any real kind of success. Still early days for Wyatt but hes well on course to be a star.

I think thats one team who definitely can't be named in that catagory to be honest, Edge ks what? An 11 time World Champion, Christian is a 5 time World Champion in two different companies, while I think its obvious Edge had the most successful career out of the two Christian who for me was the better of the two had a pretty great career after they stopped teaming together.
I think Christian would have been pushed before Edge if he didn't leave the WWE I 2005 but his 3/4 years in TNA were pretty good too.

The New Age Outlaws. They were great together, Road Dogg had the mic skills but not particularly great in-ring skills. Billy had great in-ring skills but was awful on the mic. They worked so well as a team but had very little success as individuals.
I think only Billy had a brief IC run and was KoTR but that was it.

Whilst I can't stand him, Miz has been world champion and headlined Wrestlemania. He has also stayed on the roster at a midcard level where Morrison left.
Did Pillman ever actually acheive anything of note though? He may well have gone on to be the biggest star ever had he not died, but he's not in the same category as Christian in terms of accomplishments. *Sits back and waits for Hero to explode*

Christian was only (Imo) a World Champion in WWE because Edge was diagnosed with the spinal injury. They have never wanted to pull the trigger on him. it was a sympathy reign, he lost the title almost as soon has he got it. he has lost the odd i profile feud, and why you do sometimes appear to see him in high profile matches (EC) from time to time, you know that he is never realistically going to win, but is there to just make up the numbers. He is quite often the fall guy in matches where the 'E want to protect him.
As for the Titles in TNA - Christian at the time of signing would have been a big coup. One half of the WWE's 11(?) time tag team champions on their roster. Arguably their biggest established star, while the likes of Joe, Styles were making names for themselves. Sticking the strap on Christian was more of a need to build prestige than because they wanted to.
Where as Edge was given the strap and allowed to run with it, multiple times and you would believe that any match he was in he would win.
Anyway I like a good healthy debate!
