MH370
First topic message reminder :
Thought I'd try set up another thread on this as it is fascinating stuff. Last one was taken down for a few distasteful comments including one from me so let's keep this one clean.
Latest developments:
Mike McKay Oil rig worker gives very detailed description of something burning and falling to the sea http://www.news.com.au/world/oil-rig-worker-says-he-saw-malaysia-airlines-flight-mh370-burst-into-flames/story-fndir2ev-1226853302184
Both Vietnamese and Malaysian earch of the area where Chinese Satellite spotted debris has found nothing.
Wall Street Journal quoting Boeing engineers stating that data downloaded automatically from the plane’s engines, suggests the plane flew for a total of five hours. Its final confirmed location was at 1.31am last Saturday, about 40 minutes after it took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The unnaccounted 4 hours mean it could have made Australia, India.
Personally thought from quite early on that this plane has been hijacked and flown to a terrorist stronghold somewhere - perhaps Aceh which would fit in with Malaysian military radar reports of a UFO over the Melaka Straight. BBC guest on news this morning when asked what he thought had happened said 'If I was to take the plane I would have taken it at exactly the spot where contact was lost'.
NZ Oil rig workers testamony very detailed and convincing though.

Re: MH370
Total bodge operation by the Malaysian's
Looks like the pilot just went crazy & had issues, total suicide mission & wanted to take everyone with him, as far away from land & in the most difficult area to task a search & rescue. If the pilot had committed suicide, surely the plane would of just gently decreased altitude & hit the water pretty hard but possibly survivable. Shame then, that the Malaysian's dithering has probably cost the passengers, if alive, because 12+ days or whatever it is without food & water is pretty difficult to see them surviving.
As for the der-breeee.......none been found by the planes so far, bad visibility. If it is the plane, going to be ages before they find the exact plane location because of the drifting movement.

Re: MH370
Been reading up a little and watching a fair bit of the news. It's scary how in this world of technology there is basically no-one with a decent idea of what happened. So many theories but all of them of largely unbelievable parts to them. I'm guessing if we ever do find out the truth it's going to be the most unbelievable of the lot.

Basically what we all knew deep down anyway has been confirmed by new satellite analysis. Malaysia Airlines confirm it crashed into the Indian Ocean & nobody survived. Still many questions unanswered though, this will rumble on for years....

Must be so painful for the families involved that there are still so many questions left unanswered. Biggest one being, WHY??

Re: MH370
Still can't for the life of me figure why a pilot decides he's killing himself and taking a couple hundred people with him, into the ocean... not the action of suicidal people, normally a very private affair. Seems he's been hanged on the basis of owning a Flight simulator... alright then. What's the bet when proof of fire in the cockpit is found, the story becomes the pilot set the cockpit alight? No doubt they'll find a gas lighter, a firefighters manual, and Dantes Inferno in his attic
Anyway, RIP to all those involved, one of the great tragedies in modern history.

No... they aren't. You're talking about something less common than Virgin Mary sightings from Atheists. Twelve 777 cockpit fires in the last six years.... Which would you rate more common? Understand that I'm not completely dismissing the possibility of suicide... But absolutely nothing based on what we know has that being more likely than a plane malfunction

Re: MH370
More common than I think.... Cockpit fires on THIS PARTICULAR PLANE are more common than pilot suicides - Relatively speaking a cockpit fire in a Boeing 777 is more likely than a pilot suicide in any plane.

Re: MH370
What's the actual latest on this? Have they stopped searching? I heard a while back that the pings they detected in the water were actually of their own search boats & with all the different nationalities involved & poor communication, they all got confused & instead of finding the plane pings, they were actually going around in circles, detecting the differing boat pings, instead of the planes.
Anyway, total bodge recovery operation. Doubt it will ever be found or what happened. I'm sure a Hollywood CGI blockbuster will tell us, no doubt.

Russians blaming Ukrainians, Ukrainians blaming Russians. One of them is probably lying. Horrible incident.

I'm sure the mainstream media will blame the Russians, but Ukrainian government has admitted to killing 300 pro-annexation activists, so they certainly aren't waging a noble war. Could be anyone.

Re: MH370
Shouldn't of been flying near the restricted or 'advised' no-fly area, in which this has occurred. Everyone knew the tensions in the area between Russians/Ukrainians, many of the mainstream airliners have been avoiding this area for some time, you have to question Malaysian airlines again in my opinion. Shocking & tragic incident. R.I.P to all those lost

Apparently the plane carried over a hundred of the world's foremost HIV/AIDS experts. Death is always sad, and you don't wish it on anybody, but when it's people involve in work which could potentially change the world, it carries a bit of a suckerpunch feel.

Re: MH370
So, it looks like the first trace of MH370 may have been found. Hopefully this will put to rest some of the crackpot theories that were going around. Of course, the chances of finding the black boxes are still effectively zero, leaving us nonethewiser as to the events leading up to the crash.
Some aviation enthusiasts on online forums have already speculated that the damage to the flaperon is consistent with a controlled ditching. Be interesting to see what the real experts can derive from this.
