Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
First topic message reminder :
Dortmund are a fairly comfortable second now and are almost certainly in to the CL quarters. Depends what you regard as elite, for me the word elite is the very very best like Bayern, Real, Barca even Man U, teams who have a history of domestic and European domination. Arsenal are the level below, certainly no disgrace.
socal1976 wrote:Duty281 wrote:socal1976 wrote:It is kind of weird CS that Duty considers us an elite club and the quality of players (that Wenger has signed) and our CL football as the main reasons, but then he considers Wenger a failure. It looks like a logical inconsistency to me. And I can't name 10 clubs in Europe bigger or better than we are.
Bigger - Manchester United, Liverpool, AC Milan
Better - Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, Dortmund/Napoli.
There we go. The first three have better history and are a "bigger" club in that respect. The other seven are just...better.
Is that why Napoli got knocked of our CL group. Dortmund is nowhere near the team they were earlier in the year when we played in CL in terms of injuries and we split with them. If you really want to measure we have to look at criteria. If it is "better" I disagree certainly with regards to Dortmund and Napoli as of right now or throughout the season. Dortmund is behind Schalke and Leverkusen and neither one of those teams are all that mighty this year. Here are the teams if I am ranking the "better" aspect
1. Bayern
2. real
3. Barca
4. Chelsea
5. PSG
6. Juventus
7. Man City
8. Atleti
9. Arsenal
So Arsenal are in the top 10, even if you would rate Dortmund who is on the skids right now as being better, which I don't. Liverpool would have a fair shout right now at coming in ahead of us. That would still put us in the top 10 in terms of quality.

Great win that for Villa. Westy will be in a right 2 and 8 later.

Well done Villa. We were sh¡te. After the Willian red card, which is a tad harsh, everything Cahill and Matic did was shocking. Great goal. Ramires disgusting.
Vlaar should have gone too.
Vlaar should have gone too.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
Vlaar would of have gone if Schurrle hadn't had already played the ball backwards kind of rules out the obvious goal scoring opportunity.

Gotta love football. City started the day 9 points behind and knocked out of 2 cups in a week. Down to 10 to boot. They end up 6 behind with 3 in hand.
Might be a day Chelsea rue in May

1-2 1-2 were my predictor guesses. I'd tip United as the possible surprise if the big game players suddenly relish it

City will be without Kompany for their trips to OT and the Emirates. Big miss.

Yeah exactly my thinking. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see 2 home wins.
Hope you are right Chris. On the north west derby anyway.

Our next four games are;
Sunderland (h), Swansea (a), WBA (h), Fulham (a)
Need at the very very very worst 7 points from them games (would put us on 36 going into the dreaded last four)
Considering we've just taken one point from Villa, Stoke, Saints I ain't too confident

Well its pretty much three games cos Fulham are a proper proper bogey team for us
But miracles can happen, I mean Elmander scored today (BTW hope you got on my both teams to score, saints win and Snodgrass to score bets)

I hope for a good game tomorrow. Obviously I want a Utd win but Liverpool are my favourite team to watch at the moment. If they turn up and go for it rather than playing an extra midfielder or whatever, they're favourites. I hope Rio isn't playing!!

I did a predictor earlier and it was a barrel of nonsense. Had Stoke 9th and Villa going down - neither of which will happen. I then looked and some teams had ended up on 39 games. Bonkers

If you stay up due to a better goal difference (by 1 goal) than your competitors then you will more than get over it Olly.

That goal makes him our most in form striker of 2014 with one goal how sad is that
Also our goal difference sucks, and with those final four games (with the inevitable Suarez hat trick) its only gonna get worse lol
