socal1976 wrote:It is kind of weird CS that Duty considers us an elite club and the quality of players (that Wenger has signed) and our CL football as the main reasons, but then he considers Wenger a failure. It looks like a logical inconsistency to me. And I can't name 10 clubs in Europe bigger or better than we are.

Bigger - Manchester United, Liverpool, AC Milan
Better - Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, Dortmund/Napoli.

There we go. The first three have better history and are a "bigger" club in that respect. The other seven are just...better.

Is that why Napoli got knocked of our CL group. Dortmund is nowhere near the team they were earlier in the year when we played in CL in terms of injuries and we split with them. If you really want to measure we have to look at criteria. If it is "better" I disagree certainly with regards to Dortmund and Napoli as of right now or throughout the season. Dortmund is behind Schalke and Leverkusen and neither one of those teams are all that mighty this year. Here are the teams if I am ranking the "better" aspect

1. Bayern
2. real
3. Barca
4. Chelsea
5. PSG
6. Juventus
7. Man City
8. Atleti
9. Arsenal

So Arsenal are in the top 10, even if you would rate Dortmund who is on the skids right now as being better, which I don't. Liverpool would have a fair shout right now at coming in ahead of us. That would still put us in the top 10 in terms of quality.

Dortmund are a fairly comfortable second now and are almost certainly in to the CL quarters. Depends what you regard as elite, for me the word elite is the very very best like Bayern, Real, Barca even Man U, teams who have a history of domestic and European domination. Arsenal are the level below, certainly no disgrace.

Heh, there were sparks for United today, but nothing really of substance. He needs to have a clear out regardless but some decisions were off. RVP should've been off by 60 minutes, Matas wasted left

Well you are wrong as you tried to tell me handball does not have to be intentional when it does. Recklessness is a form of intention not just in football but in common law in the UK.

Especially as there's many different types of intention in law, and they all differ according to the type of offence, I believe.

Current top 4 or historical top 4?

Actually ignore that, remembered they fluked a win at OT.

I like and rate Tim Sherwood a lot. But the squad he is working with isn't very good. They need a big clear out and need to cut there loses on players like Lamala and Soldungo.

What do you rate him on the back of?

Well my prediction was wrong considering we didn't score orister a decent chance in 90 minutes.

The players should be embarrassed as should the management.

And ordinary Liverpool side has done the double over us quite easily with us performing awfully in both games - today we lost as Liverpool had 9/10 outfield players who could actually run and we had 2/10.

Moyes just needs to go and go now, steering us to our first finish outside the top 3 in nearly a 1/4 of a century and or first finish outside cl places sinces they started awarding more than one.

I'll never know what he was thinking win team selection and tactics today. With an entire midfield who can't run and 2 wingers with no interest in defending.

Onto mata- we should sell him, he is terrible and Jose must be laughing to himself. Looks good I the ball but can't beat a man, run with the ball or defend at all. A waste of £40 million quid bringing moyes total wasted to £65 million.

What a waste.

Kos and Per were absolutely immense. Scz gifted Spurs their best chance other than that and a couple of Adebayor half chances I think Arsenal pretty much controlled them. We should have made 2-0 or even 3-0 in the first half and killed it off. Dean missed a clear penalty late in the match where Vertinongen didn't play the ball and headlocked Kos on the set piece but that almost never gets called. To be fair our reverse rabbit's foot dean had a good match. Rosicky a wonder strike.

Right now it looks basically like the CL teams for next year are settled and any of the 4 of them could win this thing. Arsenal if they do the unlikely and beat Chelsea and Man City in the next two fixtures could find themselves in pole position. It is anyone of the top 4 are in it. One objective of making the Champions League secured, and in great position to win the cup, and it is the middle of march and we are still in it for the league as well. A lot of clubs wish they could fail like Arsenal.

Bit harsh to say that this is an ordinary Liverpool side probably the best they have been in the last few years. I do agree with you that they certainly do agree that the 65 million spent on Mata an Fellaini looks so far to be a waste. Jose is going to get a free world class striker with United's 37 million next year. United should have signed a manager with the experience and CV of having won at a big club. It is a different animal doing a good job at United and doing a good job Everton where finishing in the top 7 is seen as a good season. RVP looks past it, he had one great year then Robbin Van Injured showed up.

They are ordinary - the pl is awful, probably the lowest standard since it was created.

The Liverpool side with reina, mascherano, gerrard and Torres in their pomp would have walked this league, as would any good Chelsea, united or arsenals 03/04 side.

It is god awful every single week.
