Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
First topic message reminder :
Dortmund are a fairly comfortable second now and are almost certainly in to the CL quarters. Depends what you regard as elite, for me the word elite is the very very best like Bayern, Real, Barca even Man U, teams who have a history of domestic and European domination. Arsenal are the level below, certainly no disgrace.
socal1976 wrote:Duty281 wrote:socal1976 wrote:It is kind of weird CS that Duty considers us an elite club and the quality of players (that Wenger has signed) and our CL football as the main reasons, but then he considers Wenger a failure. It looks like a logical inconsistency to me. And I can't name 10 clubs in Europe bigger or better than we are.
Bigger - Manchester United, Liverpool, AC Milan
Better - Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, Dortmund/Napoli.
There we go. The first three have better history and are a "bigger" club in that respect. The other seven are just...better.
Is that why Napoli got knocked of our CL group. Dortmund is nowhere near the team they were earlier in the year when we played in CL in terms of injuries and we split with them. If you really want to measure we have to look at criteria. If it is "better" I disagree certainly with regards to Dortmund and Napoli as of right now or throughout the season. Dortmund is behind Schalke and Leverkusen and neither one of those teams are all that mighty this year. Here are the teams if I am ranking the "better" aspect
1. Bayern
2. real
3. Barca
4. Chelsea
5. PSG
6. Juventus
7. Man City
8. Atleti
9. Arsenal
So Arsenal are in the top 10, even if you would rate Dortmund who is on the skids right now as being better, which I don't. Liverpool would have a fair shout right now at coming in ahead of us. That would still put us in the top 10 in terms of quality.

the other sports have been changed for the better and so can football- but in a different way.
wont happen mate, look how long it took to bring in goal line technology something which is easy and very clear cut. what your suggesting brings far too many grey areas and far too much of a radical change that the governing bodies will never go for it
its not a radical change its just having a 4th official watching tv screens real time allowed to talk to the ref real time. I would say it may take a long time to happen- but I would hope it would happen within 10 years or so,

Well I have been on the boxing forum debating wilder v klitschko.
We lost against Chelsea, 1-0 or 6-0 it makes no difference because we needed 3 points to stay in the title race, goal difference is not a problem.
Least we can concentrate on the FA cup now.

jose mourinho is in favour of a 4th official watching a tv screen, he jussaid so in his interview now.

Exactly. Bottling it, is if they lose the F.A Cup now because they are the strongest remaining team by a mile. They are a long way off being the strongest in the EPL, that's the difference.

As it stands Arsenal would be drawing against over 70% of the other premiership sides playing today apart from Chelsea. Really, really unlucky to lose.

The 4th official saw the handball incident on tv in the tunnel today but the current rules say he's not allowed to advise the ref.
We 100% need a tv official. Just for calls in the moment whilst the ball is already dead. Once the play starts reviews shouldn't be allowed. Like the NFL. As soon as the ball is back in play the "wronged" party stays wronged.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
Liverpool's attack is the best in the premiership...Very impressive..
Chelsea's run in will be the difference.
Can see my misfiring City finishing third !!..
Will 3rd be enough for Pelle..
Not sure..

What a ridiculous performance by Arsenal and a great match by Jose's side. Absolutely pathetic. There is still a massive improvement we need to make to close the gap with Chelsea and City. I just hope this doesn't completely crush our confidence and cause us to blow the FA cup as well.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
Suarez already has more goals than RVP finished with last year and is only one assist behind how many Mata had last year. Right now, I'd say he is up there with Messi and Ronaldo. It will be interesting to see how Chelsea and City approach the Liverpool games, attack and they could be done on the counter, sit back and Liverpool can break them down. Expect Chelsea will go for the early goal and then try and sit back for the rest of the game, City will probably just out-score Liverpool, on paper the Liverpool-City game should be a stormer.
