Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
First topic message reminder :
Dortmund are a fairly comfortable second now and are almost certainly in to the CL quarters. Depends what you regard as elite, for me the word elite is the very very best like Bayern, Real, Barca even Man U, teams who have a history of domestic and European domination. Arsenal are the level below, certainly no disgrace.
socal1976 wrote:Duty281 wrote:socal1976 wrote:It is kind of weird CS that Duty considers us an elite club and the quality of players (that Wenger has signed) and our CL football as the main reasons, but then he considers Wenger a failure. It looks like a logical inconsistency to me. And I can't name 10 clubs in Europe bigger or better than we are.
Bigger - Manchester United, Liverpool, AC Milan
Better - Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, Dortmund/Napoli.
There we go. The first three have better history and are a "bigger" club in that respect. The other seven are just...better.
Is that why Napoli got knocked of our CL group. Dortmund is nowhere near the team they were earlier in the year when we played in CL in terms of injuries and we split with them. If you really want to measure we have to look at criteria. If it is "better" I disagree certainly with regards to Dortmund and Napoli as of right now or throughout the season. Dortmund is behind Schalke and Leverkusen and neither one of those teams are all that mighty this year. Here are the teams if I am ranking the "better" aspect
1. Bayern
2. real
3. Barca
4. Chelsea
5. PSG
6. Juventus
7. Man City
8. Atleti
9. Arsenal
So Arsenal are in the top 10, even if you would rate Dortmund who is on the skids right now as being better, which I don't. Liverpool would have a fair shout right now at coming in ahead of us. That would still put us in the top 10 in terms of quality.

I'll say both teams to score now, but I'll save my goalscorer until the team news is announced. I'm gonna follow my tips this week for once

Barnsley, away at Yeovil
Sheff Utd, away at Swindon.

Have a feeling we will get a point.
Crazy to say after last sunday.
Have a feeling it may go similar way as the Liverpool game.
Miss an easy chance very early, then go 1 up.
Hold on till just before half time, then they score.
We go 2-1 up mid way through second half, then they score with 10 mins to go.
Then its backs to the wall defending for us, but manage to hold out for the point.

So according to David Moyes. Fergie couldn't have done a better job this season...I think the pressure is effecting his common sense.

I think he is losing it Nando.. That could be the comment that is the final nail in the coffin..
Man u wernt much better last season but it was Fergies tactical half time changes and team talks that got united back into so many games when they were behind..

I wouldn't bet agaist Yeovil at home. Barnsley lost 3 in 4. Yeovil drawn last 3.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
That was a tricky one, probably be a draw.
Barnsley coming off a very good win at Reading, so hoping they can win.

westy mate- do you not bet on betfair?
you can get 60.06 on that bet on exchange!! that would be a return of 600.60

Sounds??
bettings a bit of fun- picking 4 wins is tough though. very tough especially with the teams you have gone for(none clear favs- all over evens, a couple over 2/1)
the championship and league one are lotterys.. But anyway- if you want to maximise your wins when you do.. Check out betfair

Meant Betfair sounds better. Will give it a look.
I always just bet £10 on 4 teams.
the odd time i will put a few pound on goalrush.
When the 6N is on, I normally do first tyr scorer.
Only got Sexton to score first v France right this year.

I rarely touch the rugby in the 6nations.. backed england the last two times v nz because i thought 10/1 was stupid- and i got the first one. We do the 6nations predictor and although i didnt do it this year I picked all the results bar 1 the two before.
But we have the masters coming. and You are a golfer . Golf is also a market where you will get close to double the odds on the exchange as well.

I am not a horse racing man- but what i do know is when the Big races come around and I do bet - Paddies seems close. But again the exchange may be favourable..
one thing to note on the exchange and if you are new you will lose 5%
I have a discounted rate at 3%.
The Betfair sportsbook however is still good(standard bookie site)

I've gone with 12 teams this weekend;
Man UTD
Chelsea
City
Everton
Liverpool
Derby
Stoke
Swansea
West Ham
Barcelona
Atl Madrid
Real Madrid
£5 on that returns just over £3k, and with cashout available if at any point I'm up a decent amount I'll probably cash it in.

All of you sofa, media centre gamblers. You want to try to run a busy multi-storey car park whilst juggling coral slips and flipping between the livescore and william hill apps, all whilst keeping up appearances when the boss turns up.
It's an art. An art that took about a season to master.
My mate used to do the same but in a second hand shop. That shop has closed down in the last two months.

I'm off today. Been on an enforced paid week off. Need to use up holiday days. And I'll be at the Bridge next Saturday.
My big one for today is United, Chelsea, Swansea, Northampton, Luton, Aberdeen, Celtic, City, Bayern, Barca, & Atletico. £353 returns from £1.

Betfair isnt what it used to be, but on your bog standard races you'll get better prices. Its more notable on anything above 10/1 usually, any outsider in a race is likely to be significantly bigger on betfair.
I generally shop about on saturdays as Betfair's prices actually dont stack up as the best, especially for multiples. I always found Victor Chandler were the best for football, but just use oddschecker to find out.
In fact, at the moment the best price on City is on the Betfair sportsbook not the exchange, and the exchange is behind on a lot of bookies too.

you do have to shop- but if you only want to use one, and you are going for big odds a good place to stick to is exchange- you will never get ripped off. But you won't allways be able to place the bet..
I check paddies, sky bet, sportsbook and exchange- odds checker never has accurate exchange odds as it can change by the minute
I much prefer the exchange system so i may look into betdaq at some point, as betfair exchange is losing the market slightly

The early days - which I sadly missed - were where you could've made a real killing on Betfair.
I use the exchange for trading only nowadays.
I remember the days when you could get 6 and 7's for the likes of Owen, Van Nistelrooy etc to score first. Great times.

Betdaq is really bad, dont waste your time. Oddschecker is far better now, especially on the football. Id honestly say you dont cost yourself a lot of money sticking to one brand, but I dont think there is one that is notably better on prices. Big money changes markets and people who bet big money shop around for the best price. Once they do, it changes the prices because of the bookies exposure. Whilst the exchange doesnt have the exposure, the markets get hugely changed in the same way.
If any, I would still suggest Victor Chandler worth a proper look at. Bookies have caught up on the laying system with their in play options anyway, although not as comfortably as Betfair.
I generally just jump back and forth from skybet, paddy and betfair depending on what kind of streak I'm on. Its nonsense, but if I lose a few in a row I change bookies and freshen my approach. There's basically no formula or right or wrong, just personal preference.

the fact that you can know cash out on betfair sportsbook means its becoming as effective as exchange.,
I will check out victor.
There are off course other big time exchange options But that is too rich for me, as its like minimum stakes of 200 quid.. Its a hobby not a career for me!!
