2014 World Cup T20 Live Matches Thread
First topic message reminder :
World T20 has started again...seems like a few months back WI won it........
I think this will be turned into a 4 year event...and rightly so.
so far:
--BD beat Afghanistan........avenging their Asia cup defeat...and BD were talking up the win as if it's an achievement......well maybe it is...shows where they have set their bar or expectations. I can't be excited watching or following such a game.
--Nepal beat Hongkong.......is this a surprise ?...I have no clue where / how either of these teams stand?....and no interest either.
--and the big upset IRE beat Zim off the last ball...and that too without their stars Morgan and Boyd Rankin

ends with 151.
NZ did really well to restrain the dutch to 10 of the last 2.
NZ big favs- but it isnt as guaranteed as it should have been

A reasonable score by the Netherlands but they'll be disappointed they lost momentum at the end rather than increasing it.
Find it hard to see anything other than a NZ win.

It's much better now, Mysti, there was a time when they resembled a South African Reserve team

Draw would be a good result for NZ.
NZ looking more comfortable now. Boundaries will have to come more freely near the end though.

This tournament would've been so much poorer if the Dutch weren't involved, all their games have been thrilling in their own way

Yeah - Just wanted to offer a hand of friendship before I start digging up the trench!!
NZ still in control, for mine. Wickets in hand, run rate not outrageous, and one of the most destructive batsman in the world still in. That one run nineteenth over proving massive. Essentially created a 19-over innings

Re: 2014 World Cup T20 Live Matches Thread
That's right. If they'd made late 160s it would've been a lot closer. Fair play to Holland. They're certainly no mugs. Good work out before Sri Lanka. NZ need to look at that like a knockout match.

Hi Kia - yeah, the Dutch certainly aren't mugs. However, they do seem to lack the instinct and ability to know when to go for the kill. I realise that's a harsh assessment of an associate nation but it's made in the hope they'll assess where things didn't work out and improve further.
Following on the loss to South Africa that should have been a victory, for me they particularly lost it today in the final 5 overs of their innings. 108/3 off 15 with Peter Boden and Tommy Cooper doing it just like that! They really should have been looking to touch 170 from there but instead rather fell away.
Anyway, great credit to the Netherlands. As others have said, they've certainly enhanced this tournament. However, they'll know such tributes could have been much more than that.

Re: 2014 World Cup T20 Live Matches Thread
I agree guildford. You could see the captain toying with the idea of bringing up the field. Putting one more on the offside wasn't enough. Singles were going to get NZ home. In those situations you don't die wondering and you bring the field up and encourage the batsman to take a risk and go over the ring field. It didn't happen and NZ might have managed to hit over and secure the win so hindsight is a wonderfully annoying thing but I did get the impression as well Holland lack that ruthless edge when they need to go on the attack to bring the game home. Sometimes I wonder if they're thinking, we're actually in this game and there's no shame if we lose rather than having that mentality my god we're actually in this game and if we could force a wicket or two we might actually win. No one can fault you if you try to force a game in your favour but they can sure criticise you if you sit back and allow the opposition to dictate terms. These are important lessons Holland will hopefully learn.

First time I'm watching this t20 at home - ergo first time I'm actually listening to the commentators - wonder how long before Danny Morrison irritates me to the point of the Mute button

In his last nine T20 internationals the LEAST Tim bresnan has gone for is 9 an over. Not average, the least.
