2014 Challange cup

3RD ROUND DRAW

Dewsbury v Wigan.
Sheffield v London Skolars.
Huddersfield v St Helens.
Wakefield v Leeds.
Rochdale v Leigh.
Batley v Castleford.
Doncaster v Hemel.
Keighley v Barrow.
Featherstone v North Wales.
Hull KR v Warrington.
Hull FC v Salford.
Bradford v Oldham.
Hunslet v Workington.
Catalan v London Broncos.
Halifax v Widnes.
Swinton v York.

Not a bad draw in my opinion. Some big games, a couple of intresting games, the possibility of a couple of shocks. Tie of the round is the Huddersfield/Saints tie. And once again Rovers get a crap draw, again getting Warrington for the 4th time in 8 years (I think), and we've also had Huddersfield, Saints in the 3rd.

In the current climate I would describe Warrington at home tough but distinctly winable for you and by the time that game starts I would expect you to have beaten Bradford & Wakey in the previous weeks to boost confidence. 

The Bulls mind do have 3 props this week! (2 more than last week!!!) and Blythe should play for the first time this season so it might be harder than Hudds found it last week. Prediction for Sunday KR by 3 scores.

Going tomorrow Beast, so will let you know my thoughts (probably be on the Hull KR thread though).

Good draw for your boys (though maybe not in terms of money through the gate), you never know, the number of SL teams drawn against each other this round, you could go far this year in the cup.

So with no real suprises other than Hunslets win (and that's not that big a suprise), the RD 5 draw is-

Leeds v St Helens.
Swinton v Keighley,
Wigan v Hunslet,
Leigh v Featherstone,
Warrington v Doncaster,
Salford v Widnes,
Bradford v Catalan,
Castleford v Sheffield.

The tie of the RD is obviously Leeds/Saints. With the other 2 big sides getting fairly easy draws.
Though I feel Leigh v Featherstone will be a cracking match. Salford/Widnes and Castleford/Sheffield should be intresting games. Bradford/Catalan should also be.

After a fairly disappointing rd, with a couple of very big scores. The Leigh/Featherstone game sounded a belter. And Bradford's excellent come from behind win. The full rd5 results are.

Leeds 26 Leigh 12.
Widnes 56 Keighley 6.
Wigan 4 Castleford 16.

The Semi final draw has seen Leeds v Warrington and Castleford v Widnes.

So excellently one if Cas or Widnes will grace the final, one of the best things to happen final.

After semi finals weekend, the scores were.

Leeds 24 Warrington 16.
Castleford 28 Widnes 6.

So the final will be an all Yorkshire affair, in what should be an excellent game a week on Saturday. With about 95% of neutral fans wanting Cas to win.

It's a strange one, a lot of people want Cas to win because of the underdog thing, the fact that it's there first final since 92, that they been outstanding this season, because Leeds have had alot of success, and because it's well Leeds.
But if Leeds do win, I don't think that alot of people will begrudge the likes of Burrow, Sinfield st all finally getting a winners medal.

Final

Leeds 23 Castleford 10.

So Leeds win the first bit of silverware this year (and there first challenge cup for 15 years), with a fairly dominant performance especially around the rucks, against a fairly out of sorts Cas. Well done toLeeds.

I didn't think the Tigers turned up on the day. I know that the Tigers were a better than this.
