The way he departed has led him to be somewhat overrated over his entire body of work tbh
That has to be fishing.

I do kind of agree with GSC, Drogba was fantastic at scoring important goals in big matches, but his overall scoring record wasn't fantastic and I didn't think people rated him that highly until around the Champions League run. I was incredibly shocked that he was voted their best player ever.

Pretty much every physical lone striker in the world wants to be Drogba.

I'm not even saying Drogba was bad. Merely he didn't score enough for me to rank him among the greats. Ultimately that's what strikers will always be based on.

Almost 1 in 2 for Chelsea. And I don't think Lampard scores as many without Drogba. On top of him winning some huge games on his own, I think his whole game makes him one of the best the Prem will ever see.

drogba is overrated, beast on his day which was usually in a final but would go missing for large parts of seasons, hence his poor scoring record for a player who had it all.
people only really remember the on form drogba, not the drogba who only scored 5 league goals in a season twice. nobody's doubting his ability, but not right up there as the best strikers in prem history because he simply couldn't do it consistently unlike the likes of henry, sherear et al

I'm not saying he's the best striker in this league ever, Henry wins that, but he's the archetype of what he was and a sensational footballer beyond that too. I don't think doing what he did in big games should be underestimated either, at clubs like Chelsea wanted to be and now are, thats what you pay the big money for.

Looks to me that Drogba is underrrated here.
Not sure how you can be critised for being a big game player. He won Chelsea his fair share of matches, sometimes on his own.
Also those two seasons were he scored 5 (league) goals where both plagued with injury and was probably no where near 100%
If I was going into a final and I had a choice between picking Shearer or Drogba, I would go with Drogba everytime.

His scoring was a little like Kuyts' for us. Hardly prolific, but always seemed to score the big goals when it really matters.
I think Chelsea should have never let him go.

goal scorer sheaer all day long.
drogba = hold the ball up- retain it in the oppositions half- mess with defenders- high class physical presence.
but Zlatan = drogba + shearer.
However its not just about skill sets- it is also about performing in big games- Drogba has done that, the other two possibly havent to the same extent.

Zlatan is overrated. The only time I've seen him dominate a game was in a friendly.
Can't remember who mentioned our number of loaned out players but apparently if we draw Atletico they will have to pay us around £8m or start their 2nd choice keeper. As part of the loan agreement. The Atletico president has said he won't play if we meet in the semi.

As good as Drogba was, his other on field antics make it tough for me to rate him as highly as other people might.
His 'scrap' with Lehmann was laughable.
He was "as strong as an ox" holding the ball up one moment, and fall over at the slightest gust of air the next.
That takes the gloss off his overall contribution/reputation for me.

As a player Terry has probably done more for England as well. Possibly along with cole the best english player over the last 10 or so years
Our no lose record is pretty high up there and a lot to do to him.
Terry just has the bad image.

Its the way he plays - he is on another planet.
He has it all. The goals he scores- He is a magician.
He isn't a big game player, he isn't on par with anyone like messi or ronaldo.
But he is still a player of great goals and lots of goals(shearer) and has a great hold up ability and physical presence(drogba)
He just hasn't produced it allways or in the big games.

one of the seasons wasn't, one was because he was sulking because he didnt like big phil. but still in both seasons he still played 24 league games in both.
even without them he had seasons where he only scored 10,12,8 and 11. he only scored 20 league goals twice in his chelsea career. im sorry but there not stats of a world class striker. you also have to consider that he played in one of the greatest teams in prem history which make those stats all the poorer.
when on form a great player, but more often than not poor contributor. he was a player who really did blow hot and cold. the greatest players of all time are players who could do it week in week out, not just when he could be arsed

no but they are very important if your a striker especially a lone striker, its not as if drogba was dropping deep play making and setting up all his team mates when he wasnt scoring, he was more than likely playing poorly.
lampard was massive in releasing a lot of pressure of drogba

shearer was brilliant at holding it up and bringing in other players, you look at his record when playing for a top side
16, 31, 34, 31, 25, 2 (barely played), 14, 23, 5, 17, 22
they are miles better than drogbas and done it over a much longer period

Who said he was one of the greatest players of all time? I've watched Drogba alot over the years and he could make defenders redundant in games. Its not all about goal scoring stats. I don't think Lampard whould have scored as many goals if Drogba wasnt in the team leading the line. Drogba could occupy two defenders to make space for Lampard 'late' runs into the box.
Shearer played in a age of two strikers up top. Would he have been as effective as Drogba leading Chelsea's line? I really doubt it.
Is he a better goal scorer then Shearer? Nope.
Is he a better player then Shearer? Yes
Who would you rather have leading your line in a big game? Drogba everyday of the week, twice on a Sunday.

If Fulham win they go to 30 points.
Norwich on 32.
Villa/Palace could be on 35, one of them could be on 37, while the other on 34.
Very tight.

Cabaye controlled the game at Selhurst & we were confident back then, only a couple points off 5th, if I remember. Game at St James', you deserved to win, outplayed us but you couldn't finish anything. Somehow Cisse woke up & scored a header......somehow.
We're just awful currently, probably the worst side in the EPL currently. We can also add a 1-0 defeat to Fulham before those three games I mentioned.
