Pro12 media/sponsorship etc.
Thought it worthwhile to open a thread for this.
Rumours about that Turkish Airlines is to be the new main sponsor. Seems their Executives were at the Leinster v Munster game last weekend as were the Sky execs.
Turkish Airlines also sponsor Manchester United & Barcelona, so this is a good sponsorship if it comes off.
Also rumours that BT are trying to sponsor the four Welsh regions.
Media: 750,000 watched the Leinster v Munster game last Saturday evening on TG4. Viewing figures like that should help to attract sponsors, particularly as most these games will be available on Sky.
Can't wait for the Sky hyping of the Pro12. It will shortly be the best league in the world!

Surely the Scarlets will be favourites for the league now
They already have sponsorship deals with Borussia Dortmund,Olympique de Marseille and Aston Villa in football, together with sponsorship and promotion deals with athletes including Lionel Messi, Kobe Bryant and Caroline Wozniack
Furthermore, the company is the primary sponsor of the Euroleague in basketball, plus in golf they sponsor the Turkish Open on the European Tour

Leo Cullen.
Excellent if they do start to sponsor the league. Magners (not a brand sold in Ireland) and Rabo (do not operate in the UK) never seemed like the best fit.

I just can't wait for Miles Harrison and Stuart Barnes to say "Glasgow" more often.rodders wrote:Sin é wrote:

So far, the experience has been confined in the Heino, but you'll be hearing "GlasssCow" in that nasal Estuary English over and over, like burning the hair off your feet.

Sky will be broadcasting some GAA games - Gift Grub have done a brilliant parody on it.

Highlight for me is that when a player is issued with a Black Card (which is the colour you get in GAA), they think the player is sentenced to death.
Its very well done

In the real Gift Grub one from Today FM (without the vid), they interview John Mullane and they have an interpreter (who doesn't understand what he is saying)

Seems like it could be a good fit. This might mean the competition just gets called the Pro12 with no preamble? Then Turkish Airlines would be platinum sponsors and they can bring in some furthering tiering with some services firms, car makers, telecoms, beverage.
Will the Grand Final now be in Istanbul. That would be something.

Watch out for Etihad moving the All-Ireland Hurling final to Dubai
Have a look at their website:

Rabo won some European marketing award for their sponsorship of the Pro12 (think it might have been something to do with social media response).
Munster (Germany) is one of Turkish Airways routes. That might cause a bit of confusion for some!
