Melrose 7s
Rugby's oldest 7s tournament is taking place today.
Well worth a watch, coverage starts from half 2 on BBC Scotland. Should be available via the red button and online as well.
Can't wait to see the strong team Glasgow Warriors have put out. Niko Matawalu and Carlin 'the fastest man in world rugby' Isles tearing it up together is one hell of a prospect
So here's to a good day, with a bucket load of tries and maybe some moments like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T9JMlVfA_Y&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Re: Melrose 7s
Yeah the American team looked poor despite the big build up.
Glasgow the big favourites but Melrose and accies look pretty good.
Edinburghs new signing just scored for accies, an ex back rower now in the centre. Doesn't look the biggest of guys but seems to have good pace.

Bloody bbc coverage. Miss the first Glasgow game and now we need to turn over so bbc 1 can show escape to the feckin country.
Anyway
Clermont and Glasgow warriors final depending on the draw. Big up yo Edinburgh accies who are looking very strong and could potentially be the team to upset the apple cart

It's a different game eh. One team sponsored by BT Sport, the other team is sponsored by bob's taxis.

Why is Niko playing in this instead of the Munster game?

With Seymour and maitland back it seems that niko is surplus to requirement. Strange as niko is 100 times the player that pyrgos is!!!

Re: Melrose 7s
Niko is our best sevens player.
I think that if Glasgow are invited to send a team to play at Melrose, the least we can do us send a credible team rather than a squad full of also rans.

Re: Melrose 7s
No disrespect to Melrose, but the Munster game is far more important to Glasgow than the ladies cup. Niko and Bennett should be on the bench at thomond.

Yeah he has a bit of a reputation for being hot headed but wasn't the main culprit in kebab gate.

Re: Melrose 7s
Think Glasgow will win but accies could run them close.
Been impressed by some of the accies squad. Alex Blair looks back to his best and must be knocking on the door for a 7s contract.
Parquer also looks a very good player too.

Re: Melrose 7s
Just back from it, great day out and I thought accies were good. But did anyone see the cross field kick from glashan to farndale which he dropped ? I know you need athletes but they need to catch a ball first carlin isles looked good with the ball but against currie he did find it hard defensively.
Alex Blair and chris were standouts for accies but as a team heriots played very well.
does this mean glasgow will be back next year?

Re: Melrose 7s
Great bit of PR for The Warriors. Another few thousand signed up to the cause thanks to Mad McMata, Hughes, Bennett and Western Isles. Seeing the crowd's reaction at the end was fascinating.
BTW we should sign Alex Blair just to really rub the MFLs noses right in it after the way he was treated by them - very good player. He could come off the bench and run in try 10 on the 26/4 at Scotstoun !

Re: Melrose 7s
Blair and Dean were the standout Scottish players, and to be fair to Edinburgh Blair was out injured for almost 2 years before he finally made a return - you can't keep paying someone if they're going to be out for so long.
Hrs back fitter and stronger than ever, and is a good shout for filling in the 3rd 10 slot at Edinburgh

Considering they (BBC) covered it - albeit take it was the wendyball outside broadcast team judging by some of the shots.
Rory Hughes put in a good shift too for the Warriors - he is Scottish btw !

Indeed, yeah disappointed they didn't put together a little compilation video of the day. The US tigers being knocked out by Heriots, that Gala player smashing into the hoardings, one of Isle's tries etc
