Re: Fight thread (spoilers)
Think the Malignaggi fight will be close, Porter is a decent fighter but is nothing special. What he is though is very strong and is probably the strongest welterweight malignaggi has yet to face. If he can close the distance and match malignaggi's workrate he should win, although I can't see hi stopping paulie who has a very good chin. on the other hand, if he can't rough up malignaggi he could be outworked asPaulie can still throw lots of punches. My prediction, Porter will win a tight UD
Hoppo-Shumenov is tough too as Hoppo's age makes it hard to predict how he'll perform. Shumenov is a good fighter and is strong at the weight so could outwork Hoppo but Bernard is so savvy he will probably outbox and outfox his younger opponent like he usually does
I got wins also for Quigg and Murray

Re: Fight thread (spoilers)
I think Shumenov will do the business tonight and get the win by SD maybe. This is a fight that Hopkins is expected to win which is a lot different than the normal way of him being expected to lose and then winning. Few upsets last week and I think there may be a few tonight.

Re: Fight thread (spoilers)
Im going to 2 shocks tonight, with both Hopkins and Porter losing.
Think Shumenov has been over looked slightly by Hopkins and given his age is probably not something he can afford to do.
Think Paulie will just be too quick and intelligent for Porter and take a UD win. Although he may well get robbed.

haha my bad.
I think hopkins will win a very boring but tctically great fight. I think paulie will pull off a decision.

Re: Fight thread (spoilers)
Hopkins to win a scrappy fight by close UD - Shumenov may have his moments with his maurading teak tough style and wild punches but he hasn't fought at this level and the vast experience of Hopkins will show up once again
Porter to beat Malignaggi - Whilst I like Paulie he has flattered to deceive on a lot of occasions. Looking back his losses he also has fundamental problems with people who force the action and get on the inside & fight up close. He always talks about being able to outbox and use his jab but the evidence suggests he is never able to do this ...Cotto, Hatton, Diaz, & even his win against Senchenko shows he has problems with inside/strong come forward fighters. Whilst I don't rate Porters boxing ability on the level of Cotto & Hatton I do think he has enough in his arsenal to make this a bit of mugging. Expect either a 4/5 round win for Porter or perhaps even a late stoppage.
Quigg should get the job done against Munyai who is nothing but another warm up for Quigg...although a warm up to what I'm not sure as it seems neither Frampton nor Rigondeux are on his radar.
Fight of the night will be Crolla v Murray for me; expect Murray to show he has plenty left in the tank..going to be a very close one with plenty of twists and turns but think Murray will come through with a close MD.
I also fancy Josh Warrington to beat Munroe and finish a career which I thought should have been over after being dismantled by Selby.
So I shall see you all tomorrow morning when I no doubt have egg on my face after all my predictions go completely wrong!

Re: Fight thread (spoilers)
It's a morbid curiosity thing with Hopkins these days. If he keeps going, then sooner or later he's all of a sudden going to find himself on the end of an absolutely horrible beating, even if it's against a fighter who has been carefully selected to fit in with his age and low-output style.
Not quite sure it'll be tonight, though. Interesting to see that there are quite a few hanging their hat on Shumenov in this one. To me, he just hasn't got the speed or strength to get the nod over Hoppo. He holds his left hand lower than Froch's and doesn't fight on the inside. Wide open to jabs and short rights in close, which is Hopkins' bread 'n' butter.
Shumenov has a nice jab himself and is an accurate puncher, but I think he leaves his head too exposed and doesn't handle himself when it comes to the rough stuff well enough to outhussle Hopkins, even if he's facing a 49 year old version. I think Hopkins takes a scrappy decision in another forgettable fight - but the simple fact that he's so bloody old now means that anyone is a very, very live underdog against him even if their style doesn't bode well, I guess.

Re: Fight thread (spoilers)
I see post fight that piece of vermin, Eddie Hearn, stated 'Quigg wants to unify the division'.
'We are looking at fights with Kiko Martinez or Leo Santa Cruz'.
Basically ignored divisional King, Guillermo Rigondeaux.
Typical paper champion mentality.
For the record Quigg might be Martinez, but LSC KOs him.

I can see Terry O,Conner ruining this. Somebody needs to have a word with him. He knows who the house fighter is.
The problem with Crolla is he always looks better than he actually is.
