Why on earth Van Gaal doesnt want Kroos though I'll never know. Man United are clearly going to fund anything he wants this summer, Kroos would be an investment for years and can play in a few roles.

Moyes is doing well.
On an assault charge and favs for Celtic.
With 13m I think I would do something slightly different!!!

The "assault" is just part one of his interview with Celtic - fighting technique in bars is much required in Glasgow!

Bayern Munich president Karl Hopfner says the club will not make Toni Kroos a new contract offer, amid ongoing speculation that the midfielder is set for a move to Manchester United.
Well since he rejected the last. Id say he's probably in the bag at United tbh.

Probably for the best, think Evra still has a role to play regardless of Shaw coming in or not.

On the contrary I think the fact that we haven't tied up the shaw deal and doubt we will before the world cup, evra signing a new contract is an indication that woodward has failed yet again in negotiating transfers

Valencia signed a new 3 year contract. Used to be decent, never been the same player since coming back from his broken leg. Has pace in a bundance but doesn't use it, has strength in abunmdance but doesn't use, hasn't consistently crossed well since, if he used half his temprament in trying to attack for the team that he does giving stupid free kicks away he might be a decent squad player to kee, but at the moment I don't even think he's that

Not a great player but let's face it we aren't going to be able to attract good or great players until we get back in the cl so we will have to make do with the dross in our squad and hope we can find a few gems in the market.

Antonio Valenica was pretty terrible last night, he has no technical ability whatsoever to cross a ball. Pretty pathetic really his performances so far, but we knew he average already. There's only one Valencia that should labelled the hero in his country & that's Enner Valencia.
Valencia, Nani, Young......christ! Even Kagawa can't even get in the Japan starting line-up

valencia can do a job, alright squad player and decent option if he gets back to his best. id rather have valencia on the wing than nani, young and kagawa
dont mind that he's signed a new contract, certainly not the worst at the club or the main problem

The problem is over the last few years we have accumulated a load of these squad player types and no players with genuine quality - because we kept going bargain bucket and hoping youngsters would turn into top class players.

If this is the kind of 3 Van Gaal likes to play then Mata is a far better version of the current Sneijder in this dutch team.

Dont forget Van Gaal is a huge fan of bringing the kids through if they are good enough.
Does Man U have any potentially in that criteria?
Think Cleverley needs to go the journey.

Lingard was excellent at Brighton from all accounts.
Others to look out for coming through are Andreas Pereira, Saidy Janko, Marnick Vermijl and of course James Wilson who scored a brace on his debut.

be interesting to see what happens with him under LVG, he's not a man who will take any nonsense from his players but is well used to getting the best out of big ego's. im still not convinced he's good enough for us and if he doesnt get a chance under LVG then we might as well ship him out

Re: Man Utd - The Gaalacticos thread
Well i hope LVG has a real look and chat with the lad 1 on 1 and then either loans him to a lower PL team(PALACE ) or sells him straight away
or can work with him to bring out his potential.
The last thing that needs to happen is him staying at cardiff in the Champs.. The irony of that would be sickening. He was the reason we got up.
But LVG has no reason to dislike the lad 'yet'!!
so fingers crossed on his development

Well we will see won't we.
One of the most demanding managers in Europe with a history of alienating squads vs zaha - a guy who Cardiffs fans hated because he was so lazy and was pinging te previous managers daughter.
To top it all off he isn't even that good!!

Its late- but my excuse is that I am only just back in the country and suffering from jet lag. Lets just wait and see it out(not going to comment on your cardiff stuff or that he isnt good!! etc - i dont agree with it at all but no more will be said) . I just want to see him develop and become the player I know he can be , anywhere..
thoughts on Luke shaw?
Over priced. Or just glad you got a prospect?

Re: Man Utd - The Gaalacticos thread
Very over priced, but the club wanted him and we need a new left back so got to take the hit.
Not convinced he is all he is made out to be or will ever be world class.
Problem is there isn't one guy you could point out and say that's the best fullback around and target him, there's a lack of good fullbacks I the modern game.

Re: Man Utd - The Gaalacticos thread
if everyone took your view no one english would ever be bought regardless of the price.
These are the facts on Luke shaw.
Good prospect and english, also is showing potentially not just as a left back- all these things add value to the player- being english does add value- due to the quota.
Compared to the 27m you paid out on fellani - this is almost 'bargain of the century'
If man u had not bid so much chelsea or citeh would be all over him. And he would have preferred chelsea as we all know.(we was a fan and its a london team, citeh have CL football so also may have been a prefered choice)
Man U had to pay more due to not being a CL team, but on the flip side can out bid citeh and chelsea who are very much walking the tightrope when it comes to FFP.
If we look at what PSG are doing we may be inclined to laugh at FFP. But to be honest i think next season they will be shafted royally. Its obvious citeh and chelsea have taken note of this issue and are having to be shrewd- United dont have to be as they have high revenues that are guaranteed for years rather than just parent company sponsorship deals to bolster there turnover.

Oakey makes a good point. United are playing to their financial strengths.
They can afford to pay over the odds for Luke Shaw and not compromise their position vis-à-vis FFP. City and Chelsea have to be more circumspect.
In this way, although it is costly to them, not only do they acquire a very promising young prospect for themselves, they also deny that talent to the opposition. It's a double whammy.
This is, what would be called in military circles, "good battlefield tactics". Use what you have (in this case, financial strength) to overcome weaknesses elsewhere (the lack of CL football next season).
The next football season is just over a month away. It will soon be time to let battle commence.

Suppose someone should mention Rio leaving (although it's been official for a while).
Signed in 2002 for circa £30 million quid, would be about £40 million given inflation now.
12 years service, the best centre half in the world from 04-10 for my money. 6 PL titles, 1 CL, 2 other finals and some cups.
Hope he enjoys himself and fair play to him for trying to keep playing at a high standard at 35.

Rio should consider punditry when he retires. I quite liked his input during the WC. United's former players tend to make good pundits - Neville, Keane, Scholes and now Rio.

I think he's okay. Not the best personality but he's reads the game well as you'd expect.
Keane is my favourite though. BBC destroyed ITV in the WC final viewing figures but I would guess that it would have been closer had Keane still been on their panel.
