First topic message reminder :

John wrote:Can see the same thing happening with Kroos, when Bayern stump up the wage & then the pressure will be on Moyes massively, after constantly telling everyone that he's been given the nod by these agents that these players wanted to come to United.

He shouldn't be saying things like that IMO. Just making things harder for himself.

You are right it's later this one.

I bought the official streaming pass from the united website and it's low quality too unfortunately.

They always have 3 kits though? Whoever buys the 3rd one any year is a fool.

They usually move the 2nd kit to be the following years third kit.

Yeah thats right, usually the away kit becomes the following seasons third strip. For them to release three brand new shirts at £55 each is ridiculous, and they'll end up doing it again next year when adidas come in

I remember Reginald D. Hunter mentioning he couldn't watch cricket if, after 5 days, no one ended up winning.

zaha looked bright mytsi, played up front and worked hard. nothing massive but then it was a poor game with not many positives even though a fairly young team out played roma second half

ashley young was surprisingly solid at wing back

only other positive was our pens were all decent

Had to laugh when I saw he got played as a wing back last night. I'll admit, I didn't see the game but if LVG thinks Young can play there, he needs his head examining. Remember old Roy asking Young to track back back in the Euro's, Young was shambolic & got treated as the scapegoat.

thought the same before the game john, but he was very solid winning a fair few tackles and gave more defending than he did going forward. lets not get carried away roma were pretty negative and didnt go forward much but he was one of our best players

I get the impression either Keane or Blackett will get a fair bit of first team football this year especially with the new system, still unsure about 3-5-2 but time will tell.

the main thing its got going for it is that its gets the best out of rvp, rooney and mata our three best players all playing in there best postion.

does leave us fairly unbalanced elsewhere though, we have 3 first team cb's and no experienced back ups (can still see us getting a cb) think valencia and shaw will need to stay fit as there the only two players who can play wing back. but if we can get a settled defence for once think it may well work. thats a big if with jones and smallings injury record though

It's a formation I wouldn't want to see us play against the lesser teams, against the big guns then it could be a good option. The thing is if you get the best out of those three then the defence shouldn't be such an issue but I fully expect to see Evans step it up this year as the senior centre back.

Well avoided the result and watched the game on catch up. What a waste of time.

It was brutal.

Granted it's only pre season.

Positives;
Blackett looks very settled and could see a lot of 1st team action this season
Defending looks solid in new formation (always the first thing to sort out)
um,,, it's still preseason

negatives;
MUTV on demand streaming quality is diabolical they have a cheek charging for it
We don't look like scoring unless it is a very high quality goal, no real threat
Not convinced we have the wing backs for this formation, or the centre mids, or centre halves....

Still 2 more pre season games to go so hopefully things will improve and we sign some decent players.

Starting 2015/16 season if United fail to qualify for the champions league in back to back seasons the kit deal with Adidas decreases in value by 30%, however should we win a league, fa cup or champions league trophy we receive a £4m bonus

if we were to be relegated adidas can give 12 months notice and walk away or decrease the value by 50% each season spent outside the top flight

Text updates for me tonight as the game is locked out on the streaming service for some reason.

Good to see Ronaldo on, also a good result (so far) even considering the respective stages of pre season - we are playing the best team in Europe and they had a strong side out.

The passing has been outstanding from utd on pre season. Fast, 1 touch football like the old days. Beating real 3-1 regardless if its pre season is a very good sign indeed. Young playing well, fp to him. Just feel if we can get Vidal we'll comfortably be top 4 again. City/Chelsea for the league.

pre-season games mean very little so beating RM doesn't really prove anything.

Personally if things stay the same regarding transfers I can't see Man U reaching top 4. They have spent £55 million and they still look like they need another 2/3 new quality players.

I think this season Man U will be battling with Liverpool for top 4 (losing suarez will really hurt Liverpool) but I see Liverpool finishing above Man U by about 5-10 points

I quite agree.

United will probably be scrapping with Arsenal for 3rd/4th place. Liverpool have gone seriously backwards this summer: losing Suarez, and then paying out quite a lot for not very much in return. Everton might even be a greater threat to United's top four ambitions than Liverpool, for this season at least.

Title challenge if rumoured moves come off - not that they will.

based on what? You have lost 3 defenders in Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra and only replaced them with an 18 year old rookie in Luke Shaw. Your CM looks very weak and if rumours are true you will lose Fellani and Kagawa so I can't see where your confidence is coming from.

Man city, Chelsea and Arsenal have all improved their squads drastically with some world class signings and Liverpool have made some decent signings as well so I can't see how you will bridge the gap on the top 4.

I'd expect city and Chelsea to be easily top two, with arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and United battling it out for the top four.

It'll be tight, I don't think United have done too badly so far but they do need some extra help in defence
