Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
First topic message reminder :
Superb by Mourinho. When are Liverpool at their most dangerous? The first thirty minutes of games; that is, generally, when they tear teams apart.
Not allowed to do that today, though, even against a very weakened Chelsea side. Liverpool didn't get a clear chance all game, and one costly, costly error gave Chelsea what they needed.
That and frustration, as Liverpool rapidly ran out of ideas and invention.
Back in City's hands now - another title won on goal difference?

Good lad.
Most away fans say it is the best away day in the league by a mile. Given the fact it has a good night life, if you plan to do a weekend trip and the fact the ground is easily the best in the league. Whilst the tickets are well over priced, it is a good place to watch football. Also make sure you get a pie, bluddy lovely they are, reason i go half the time.

Good to see your full of confidence nick.
Would like to see Brighton come up, as you are the only team in the play offs never to have been in the prem, good to have a new team.
Also have been told its a good away day. Only a couple of hours on the train from me.

I probably wouldn't stay for the night life in protection of my anal virginity but it does look like a good ground and I'd like to see for myself it packed to the rafters

Yet it still is comfortably more appealing than QPR's dump in a council estate and Wigan's derelict stadium in the 70's up north!

Thing is Play Offs are a complete lottery, last year i was expecting us to easily beat Palace, but look how that turned out.
Derby are a great team and have beaten us twice this year, think we can do it. But as i say i think ill enjoy it more the less rather than fearing it, like i was last year because all the pressure was on us last year.
Think Wigan will do it, they have experience on the big stage

I want Derby up. Decent fans, a chance for a decent club to build themselves up again, Schteve also deserves to fix his reputation.
I'd happily have Brighton as thats 6 points, guaranteed. They're also getting here too early if they come up and will secure a spot is gone in the battle for relegation.
Wigan - well, I kind of wouldnt mind it but they offer so little other than occasionally good football. Rosler I like, but Whelan and their small fanbase I don't.
QPR - just f**k off Arry.
I'd happily go away to Derby or Brighton but have no interest in Wigan or QPR so by default Brighton are possibly my second favourites. But we'll see when the final comes around as I can't like them cos of Poyet.

Mourhino's become a complete caricature of himself. He no longer deserves to be among the elite group of managers in world football. I would not be shocked if Abramovich showed him the door.

Well if he doesn't hit the ground running next season he'll be gone sooner rather than later I'd imagine.
I'll never get how Abramovich coveted Guardiola for so long yet ends up hiring Mourinho, knowing exactly what he's gonna get.

Mourinho is an absolute tool. Did I hear him yesterday complain about the negative tactics that Neil Adams played? Were they not the exact same tactics he played the week before against Liverpool? The man should walk away from football before he damages his legacy, he is actually losing it.
And then there is his comments about Matic: "I wonder why I brought him back".
Idiot.

The man is a huge hypocrite and frankly he is running down all of his players in the media and blaming them for the losses and a failed campaign. Of course a manager has to give players a kick in the pants sometimes but I can't see this public haranguing of his own players as being an effective strategy. I think Jose enjoys giving entertaining press conferences more than managing. Its all his players fault when they lose and the genius of his tactical mind when they win.

Chelsea are a top class striker away from probably being the complete team in the league and Jose knows this. I think, in a way, he's happy he's not winning the league this year as it just proves him right all along, when he was saying a month back they won't win the league. Obviously, he did that so if they did, he's a genius and if they don't, he was right all along! clever man and an excellent coach, just loves entertaining the media.

Mourinho is a lead character.

Genius is a really over used word. He isn't Shakespeare or Khayyam, he isn't Newton or Einstein either. He is a very good probably a great manager; yet a genius I doubt. Chelsea finished 3rd last year as well without the aid of this spectacular genius and their strike force was no better than it is now. Yes they will get a good striker and probably again will be a favorite for all the big trophies but he isn't a genius unless you are really watering down the meaning of the word but he is a bright and talented manager who in my opinion failed to live up to his reputation this year.

Yeah, has turned into an anti-climax in a way. Norwich are gone, Arsenal have fourth & I can't see City slipping up now. I knew Remy was going to be leaving anyway after impressing for us, especially when Kinnear didn't agree some kind of summer deal for £8m with QPR. As for Giroud, he's simply a goal machine. Whoever doesn't rate this prolific French striker needs their head examining.

On a serious note, 22 goals is an altogether respectable haul for the season. Maybe Arsenal go looking for a better striker, but I'm still not convinced that was their downfall. All good and well pointing out that he doesnt score against big teams, but how many goals did Suarez score vs the top teams? Arsenal do need a tougher man in midfield, because in the big games, all their piano players get overran. Overall, Arsenal are still only seven points off the Champs, should everything end as it should, so they hardly need an extreme makeover, just an intelligent acquisition here, and for once, a reasonable run with the injuries, and they are right in it for next year, even if I think Chelsea will probably cruise it. Cesc Fabregas is at 8/11 to return to Arsenal, unlike van Persie, he didnt burn his bridges at the club, and has stated his desire to one day return. La Masia hasnt gone as planned for him, and I think he'd be an excellent holding midfielder, given his tacking ability and, reading of the game, and passing range. Get Cesc, a big guy next to Cesc, and I think Arsenal have an even better season.

King if ramsey and walcott had stayed fit I pretty certain you would have won.
That was your problem - losing them.
Why did Man U win last season against much better squads- RVP stayed fit the whole season (which he never has done before) and of course fergies wisdom and the fact the older players were still just good enough
Its luck(with lack of injuries) to win if you haven't got the back up that Citeh have. Citeh can lose top players for a few games but still compete at the highest level , arsernal just hasn't been able to.
