Ukip are dangerous because some people actually believe what they say, and they target the middle classes in areas of law multi culturalism - ( if thats a word). And as gets shown every now and then, the Councillors they put up have been shown as a bit racist. But its easy for them to make grand statements, because realistically they will not get voted in and have to back up the statements they have made.

Yep Wycombe. Been on a horrendous run and dropped into bottom two last week. But bristol rovers lost at home and we won away and stayed up on goal difference. If we had gone down then it could have been end of the club. Not a fancy club but you stick with them. Started watching when Martin O'Neill was in charge.

First time Bristol Rovers have been out of the Football League since the early 1920s, I believe.
Will be a tough slog for them to get out of there, with only one automatic promotion place and one through the play-offs. Took Luton a fair while to escape from.

I doubt you would have died out mate- you have a pretty decent fan base- easily bigger than half the teams in that division

It's not the fan base it's the debt we have. We have struggled to pay wages at times this season already.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
well the fan base for small clubs directly links with what your debt/lack of should be- if you have been struggling financially and on the pitch yet still a relatively big(top half fan base) team in div 2 then your owners have royally feicked up.
anyway good luck next season.. you are safe- onwards and upwards

You never know Mysti. Maybe Villa or the Hammers will trip City up. Here's hoping.
Assuming you don't lose many players over the Summer, might be interesting for Palace next season.

Hope Villa get tonked, and then West Ham aswell. I really do not want Liverpool to win the league.
I do not get this financial fair play thing, it does not seem right. So clubs that are already in the champions league, will have more money then the others, and can therefore spend more on players and stay in the champions league. No smaller club will get a chance to catch up with the big teams.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
the ffp is a funny one and isn't working out perfectly.
However they want clubs to gain true revenues and are stamping down on 'excessive' parent company sponsorship this season by the looks of it. PSG and CITEH being the worst offenders.
PSG and Citeh will still not struggle and will still get better as the fines aren't that major.
21 players in(instead of 25) and a fine spread over 3 years - it could be worse

Sucessfull football teams have always been the ones with the most money. I read somewehere that Sunderland, i think, where once known as the bank of england team. Its just the way it has always been. Man Utd got so successful because they outspent almost everyone. Roy Keane at 3.75 was a ridiculous amount at that time. But with FFP, how can another smaller club ever compete.

ffp can be got around and the punishments arnt severe enough.
Just wait when PSG and CITEH have sponsorship deals with separate corps(by brown enveloping them the money) - And at that point UEFA can do ZIP ALL..
But then you have the other side of the spectrum - the teams in debt that never pay the money back....
Athletico Madrid.
They are not a fairytale story - but a story of greed and illicit dealings. A team that is in approximately 1 billion euros of debt with a revenue(last year) on par with everton who have a very manageable debt of 45m...
They are on par on many things (last year)- revenues, having to sell the best players, same world standing, same fan base........ BUT...
give Everton 900 m in bank loans tomorrow and you would end up with a team that would become the best in the world and be financially in the same place.
FFp is worked out wrong. And yes to an extent it can aid the top teams not hinder them. Because it backs teams that already have huge revenues.
How can the smaller club compete - well yes they can - but sadly its allways been that hard and tbh FFP is making little difference,

This is true back in the 40's and 50's, the difference being that spending a lot of money didn't work. We never won anything in that period and ended up being relegated.

Over 45000 at the SOL watch us stay up, suddenly looks like we have a decent manager for once, could even finish 12th if we win Saturday and Citeh beat the Hammers. Cup final as well...its a funny old game.

man citeh will not be getting rid of any of there 'home grown ' players as they are limited big time with the quota rule.
as much as they want to leave and play footie they will be imprisoned at citeh
we would all take richards and lescott if we could(bottom half)

Was thinking about manager of the season. Id kind of forgotten Pellegrini was a premiership rookie. On that basis winning the league (if they do) in a tight season, plus a cup win, is pretty impressive stuff really.
Credit where its due, I'm no City fan (though Manuel seems like a nice guy and largely ignores all the Mourinho type nonsense) but two trophies in your first year in a country is fantastic.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I'm not so sure Diggers, Obviously he's done a pretty good job, but the likes of managing Chelsea and Man City is kind of like cheating at Championship Manager.
A team with the players and resources of Man City, shouldn't be going down to the last day of the season to win the league, they should win the league at an absolute canter. Winning the League Cup is also the tournament that no one wants.
I don't like Liverpool, but given how rotten Liverpool have been in the last few years and how they live in the past, Rodgers has done a good job with a team which usually wouldn't really deserve to finish top 4, let alone top 2, whilst Pulis has done a great job with a bunch of deadbeats to a very respectable position.

I'm just saying you can't ignore what he's done. He had zero experience of the Premier league. Yes its a strong squad but he's (probably) won 2 of the 3 trophies they had a good shot at. That is success by any standards.
Chelsea have a great squad, the only reason they don't have a striker is down to the manager, Pellegrini has managed three big name strikers superbly.
Id still give it to Pulis, I'm just saying Pellegrini has done a really good job and done it playing good football out scoring everyone.

And the big issue with Liverpool is they did the hard work. The Chelsea game is forgivable but the Palace result was a choke, plain and simple. Rodgers, for all his great work to that point, must take his share of responsibility for those results.

I think Liverpool lost the title around Christmas/New Year, losing vital points against City and Chelsea. After that they had an incredible run of victories no one would have expected.

No they lost it last Monday night by throwing a 3 goal lead away in the last 10 minutes
It's not losing to fellow contenders that counts it's losing to struggling teams .. something that Chelsea and to a lesser extent, ,Citeh had done. Liverpool had largely avoided those embarrassing results until Palace shot them in the foot

Chelsea threw the league away. Defeats against palace villa and Sunderland killed them. But Jose did his trick of downplaying the chances of a ridiculously expensive squad. For them 3rd is pretty poor.

You'd have to say Arsenal are the team that have lost it by results against rivals. Flat track bully's all season, in a good way, have got the results against the sides you'd expect. If they could have got some decent results against the other top sides they have been right up there.
Case of what might have been had Walcott and Ramsey stayed fit...and also if Wenger had invested in another striker.

Guys,
As hard as it may be for you lot to admit it - If Citeh win today they will WIN IT on Merit.
its over a season of 38 games, Citeh have the best squad and can deal with missing players like aguero or Toure better than teams like arsernal with walcott and ramsey .
Liverpools loss of form (not coincidentally) coincideded with the ban of henderson.. And Gerrard and the defense have looked half of what they actually are.
Anyway this season has had a lot of amazing football and some real quality from Man U's rivals in there most dramatic slide in form ever!!
But anyway- as much as i hate citeh- no one has lost this PL- Citeh have won it(unless the unlikly happens lter and liverpool win it)
But either way the team that wins deserves it and has won it - no other team has lost it.
Competiting at the top is about squads..
Liverpool didnt even have europe to contend with - Citeh had a long FA cup run, won the league cup and was a quarter cl team, plus they will(probally win the PL)
thats a lot more games and travel than liverpool..
Liverpool will find it very tough to maintain the top 4 next season with the added pressure and CL. But I can see them doing well in the CL- just not in the PL- I think chelsea are so close to citeh with the addition of a striker- I think Arsenal are so close again with the addition of a high class striker if walcott and ramsey stay fit.
Liverpools squad is tiny in comparison to these teams.. Just the loss of henderson unbalanced them so much.Players like allen and lucas are not up to standard. oddly enough they weren't actually that bad without Suarez start of the season- because sturridge was on fire- but in the middle they have back up issues. And gerrard wont be able to maintain this form for ever either..

Absolutely right Mysti re City winning it on merit rather than anyone throwing it away. Overall over 38 games they were the best team, not only in terms of points but also with a vastly superior GD.
The only thing I don't agree with in your post is the assertion that Liverpool will struggle to maintain top 4, I really don't think they will. If the owners are smart they will recognise the excellent job Rodgers has done and fund him to expand the squad, we'll see. Think it'll be a Man City/Chelsea dogfight next season with Arsenal/Liverpool fighting for 3rd a long way clear of 5th.
I think the team who'll struggle to break back into the top 4 are Man U, they've effectively lost another year and will have to start again from scratch next season.

You're about Liverpool's squad is too narrow. Just the impact Sturridge had coming back from his injury after New Years tells a lot. If one or two key players are missing Liverpool is mediocre. They need to sign a couple of top players for next season.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Leaking goals was the issue for Liverpool, and they had Agger back fit but Rodgers wouldn't pick him and kept faith with Sakho, presumably because he paid a lot for him.
Squads matter but Lucas is a good player IMO. I think they just wanted it to much, especially Gerrard..and who can blame him. Nerves got them in the end.

Very dignified response from Ashley Cole. Englands best player over the last few years. Realistically only world class player we have had.

England haven't a chance in this tournament, so you might as well get the players in who are going to be in for the long term and actually start building a team that might perhaps come closer to challenging for a semi final place in future.
