Yeah Soldado suffered because Tottenham refused to play in a way that suited his style, then when they did start providing him service he had been so starved that his confidence was shot. A summer's rest and a new manager who might actually want to use him and I think he will come good.
Think Jack Wilshere has been a let down, struggled to make any kind of impact at all this year, injuries haven't helped but with Arteta, Ramsey out for a while there was the chance for him to cement himself as the first choice central midfielder but he has struggled to ever really impose himself.

Giroud's goals alone have won the Arse 5 matches and he's contributed to a couple of draws too.

soldado scoring a pen isnt winning points for his team, if he was playing the pen would have been more than likely scored anyway

Soldado bagged a hat-trick vs Anzhi, that's what I remembered. Yeah, JD was preferred though usually.
Giroud's **** haircut basically flicked it past Tim Krul at St. James' Park. It barely touched or altered it's path past Krul from Arteta's free-kick, so not sure we can give him that one in all honesty.

I think there's a bit of wumming going on regarding Soldado, but I'm bored so I'll bite.Saying Soldado won Spurs 15 points on his own is a piece of spin Alastair Campbell would be proud of. C & R spot on with his thinking.
He may well come good, but if you'd asked any Spurs fan at the start of the season whether they'd be happy with a return of six league goals from their record signing, I doubt they'll take it.
Changing tact, another disappointment was Dani Osvaldo. A rare black mark for Southampton

theres always going to be examples of someone missing, but more often than not they are scored. and if i remember correctly spurs came back into that game and won points anyway, without the help of the useless soldado

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'x'
ok whats the percentage of goals scored from a pen- as some of the saved ones still end up in the back of the net- either way though scoring from a pen is closer to 9 in 10 than 8 in 10.
we all expect to score from a pen- unless its a pen shoot out and england are playing

Would be interesting to counter that view and find out in the EPL which nation's players have the highest score/miss percentage for penalties. I'm sure English players do well.

The top 5 based on conversion rate are all English; Baines, Le Tissier, Beattie, Dicks and Murphy, 4 misses between them from 89 penalties.
Think your stats are a little bit off C and R, this season has seen the highest conversion rate and it's only at 83% so imagine that overall it's more likely to be in the 70's.

1888 total penalties of which 1438 were scored to give a conversion rate of 76%, does seem a bit low and wouldn't have thought that one in four were missed.

Biggest Let Down/Dissapointment of the Season
Soldado
Van Wolfswinkel
Man United as a whole
Vincent Tan inexcusably sacking Malky Mackay
Ozil has hardly set the world on fire

To be fair to Seaman, he was in goal when we won our only shoot-out against Spain.

3 man u players in the worst pen conversion stats over 10 goals(4 if you count owen)----
to be honest i think that's more about the fact that they have been awarded 1500 out of the 1800

Only Rooney out of them was our penalty taker Mysti, back when we had Yorke and Sheringham it was Irwin who took them.

Ahhh, there we go. He was sensational in his 60s for us too.
Whisper it, but I think Hughton is harshly rated on here cos all Olly does is whine about him. Not the most exciting appointment if he goes to WBA, but I bet you they wouldn't go down.
Saying that, if he was in the running for our job I'd be livid. I'm equally worried about Malky suddenly apologising and accepting the cash, I hope thats a pre-cursor for him taking the Norwich job as I want him nowhere near East London.

And Sheringham nearly scored one of the greatest England goals of all time against Argentina in 2002 - it would have overshadowed Owen's effort in '98 if it went in.

Bit before my time, lad! I wasn't even a year old.
That said, my earliest memory in life is Shearer scoring a penalty against Romania at Euro 2000.
