Froch v Groves 2 - Who will you be cheering for?
Just a simple poll and thread from a simple poster
Looking to find out who people want to win this rematch (and why as well if you like)
Personally I will be cheering on Groves as he is a better prospect due to his age and superior boxing skills. I think if he stays on this track he will achieve a lot more at Super-Middleweight than Froch has. With a marketable personality as well he could go on to be a good ambassador for boxing within the UK
Regards

Groves. Froch has been a good servant to British boxing and been in some huge fights but I want to see the torch passed on to a younger man.
That and the fact Froch has developed an odious personality since the Kessler fight (or maybe only now I've noticed)

I'm sure he's a decent guy when he's not talking about himself, I've just never seen him talk about anything else.
In all seriousness boxing is littered with unlikeable characters, the motivation for me supporting Groves is that a second loss to Froch could derail him career-wise and I'd like to see a future for Britain in the super middle division beyond Carl Froch.

He's allright George Groves in my book, he beat DeGale didn't he, and I hope he goes on to have a good career, but I'll be cheering Froch on.
Otherwise we'll have to put up with the endless nonsense from oxring about how Calzaghe would have beaten Carl and it was pointless for Joe to even step in a ring with him

I'm on the neutral side of things for this one. Huge fan of Froch over the years, have also been a fan of Groves and seeing him develop has been great to watch. Didn't think Groves had much of a chance in the first fight though as he hadn't much top level experience, yet his display proved me and a lot of people wrong. If he plays it a little smarter I think he win on points but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Froch pulls it out of the bag. Looking forward to it.

I'm not that bothered who wins. In the terms of who do I think will win I see Froch as the favourite. He saw off the best Groves had last time and I think George will not make the same impact this time around.
The card has the potential to be a stinker if the headline fight falls short of expectation.

Cheering Froch on,has taken a lot more flak from a poor performance in the 1st fight than he should have done, thought the way some have gone on Froch had stopped the fight not Foster.
Has for Froch being an a$$hole Groves ain't doing a bad job himself in the build up to this fight.
Will have a good bet going on Froch middle round stoppage.

Re: Froch v Groves 2 - Who will you be cheering for?
Groves for me, Londoner, younger man, Froch has been a good champ for Britain but there is something a bit unpalatable about his "international superstar" personality in recent years - plus his brother also needs taking down a peg. Having said that, I make Froch slight favourite due to his superior durability/conditioning, just hope Groves can keep a cool head & stick to his boxing for 12 rounds; if so he'll take a dominant points win.

Re: Froch v Groves 2 - Who will you be cheering for?
I see the fight going one of three ways:
1) identical to the first, but only this time, with a legitimate late stoppage
2) identical to the first but groves survives for UD
or
3) Froch not wanting to take a pasting for 9 rounds, before getting the stoppage, does a bute and blast him out in 5.

Re: Froch v Groves 2 - Who will you be cheering for?
I'd like Groves to win..........Simply because he has his future ahead of him and there is a lot of good matches on the horizon for him.........and us.
Froch wins.........Well after two hard fights at his age it's either a relatively easy biggish fight vs Chavez jr or retirement......He's past the stage where GGG, Ward and Degale will interest him..
Kind of like the fact Groves doesn't need hangers on around him either......Seems to be very self assured......
Don't dislike Froch like some on here.......Just think it better If Groves wins..

My two favorite fighters but will be cheering for Froch as I think his legacy is damaged more with defeat. Groves can come again. Both have been tinky winkys in the build up though. Another war would do nicely. I think Groves will win though. 4-1 for the stoppage could be good value.

Froch to win. I was always a little indifferent to Groves but since the build up to the first fight he's just come across as a smarmy, smug little weasel i.e "are you going to cry"
Horrible way to be in the build up to a fight, act like a man not a boy.
Come on the slimester!

Neutralish, I like froch fights (but think he's a plonker), enjoy groves fights too, undecided or not bothered enough to make a judgement on his personality.
I think froch takes him though, can't see groves lasting 12. Froch will be even more convinced that he'll get to him at some point so he won't be lacking heart (not that he ever has to date) no matter what groves bounces off his head.

I'd just like to see a cracking fight with no controversy or a brilliant fight with Groves winning a close one on points, setting up a final match with Froch retiring after that.
I'd also like the PPV numbers to be pants to stop the idea that any biggish british fight should be ppv. But i doubt that's gonna happen. (And yes i will be paying for it :-)

Re: Froch v Groves 2 - Who will you be cheering for?
Neutral to a point for me but for going forward, I think a Groves win would be better for boxing. Passing of the torch fight in Britain this should be.
All credit to Froch for what he's achieved, but I can't see how he can better his record......fight Ward again?? Same result. Move up to light heavy?? Gets tore apart by Stevenson and Kovalev. Can't see him beating Hopkins either. Would be spoiled into an oblivion.
Groves on the other hand may (probably) well get his behind handed to him like Froch did if/when he faces Ward. But it would be nice to find out. Also more avenues for a fan to walk down in regards to Groves, Degale rematch on top of seeing how he fairs at the summit of the division. As I stated, we have already seen Froch and what his limits are. doesn't interest me watching him try it again as he looks to be on a decline.

Re: Froch v Groves 2 - Who will you be cheering for?
People saying Froch's on the decline, chance for him to prove everyone wrong in front of a record post war crowd.
He's achieved a lot, British legend in the bag, but does he want to take things to a higher level? If it was me, I know I wouldn't quite yet be satisfied.
Some good fights for George though were he to take it.

Re: Froch v Groves 2 - Who will you be cheering for?
Froch has learned not to be an utter twonk in the build up this time. Groves appears to have taken on that role for the both of them. Coupled with the fact that Groves could still come again, I'm pulling for Froch.
Regarding the actual fight, I think it'll come down to how Froch uses his jab. If it's just a "keep away" tool like in the first fight (which kept falling short) then he'll be given another boxing lesson, only this time Groves will keep a bit in the tank for the later rounds. If, however, he uses it to close the distance and really put it on Groves from the outset (ala the Bute fight) then I can't see Groves coping with that.
If he does the latter then I predict Froch to stop Groves by no later than the eighth. Groves was largely accepted to be low on steam by the ninth last time and that was on the back of boxing a very tentative Froch following the knockdown. The main question is how will Groves go against a guy who's putting it on him from the early stages. I can't wait to find out.

Still held in pretty lofty regard going on the conversations in the pub, at work etc that I've had with people, mate. There are a couple of people I know hoping he gets beaten on May 31 but in general support for him is still pretty fanatical around here, particularly amongst Forest fans. Football fans can have a tendency to be pretty tribal in their support for someone regardless of what field it's in.
A lot of lads I know will have serious egg to wipe off their face as they're telling everyone in a pretty heated manner that Froch was just a bit complacent last time and that Groves got lucky, and that this time it's going to be a beatdown of Froch-Bute proportions!
I guess while Froch's popularity has taken a dip to a degree elsewhere, it was never going to in his home city. When you're a bit more of a provincial city without a really impressive boxing history (like a Liverpool, a Manchester, a Sheffield etc) then the people of that place are a bit more passionate and unwavering in their support, I suppose. Basically because we've got nowt else to boast about in Nottingham and Carl is our first "international superstar" since Torvill and Dean.

Froch, massively.
Something that annoys me about Groves massively, think it's that he comes across as a little wannabe smart little Poopie yet just seems childish. And he has ginger hair.
Was Froch expecting an easy night? Will he turn it on? Will he have any spunk left in the tank?
Let's just hope his brother gets lost when driving to the stadium.

Lol
agree with this.
Something really off putting about Groves. His ''I don't dislike or like him'' routine smacks of someone trying to be clever. I should pick Groves because he is new blood and all that but he has no redeeming qualities about him. Not much of a fan of Froch either but thats down to the fact he has a fit bird with a fishermans mouth and I don't think Froch is doing her right but thats another discussion on another day possibly on a more liberal forum.

Groves, partly for British boxing and possible future fights, partly because of a sense of injustice last time, partly because I'm not a fan of froch's needy international superstar warrior respect me routine.
However, think froch has come across much better in the build up and groves is trying too hard with the amateur psyching crap. I am less entrenched (boom boom) than I was.

Frochs low left jab, thrown from the waste, which is slow to come back, combined with his limited footwork is tailor made for Groves' right hand counter. No way can froch outbox groves by using his jab more authoritively.

Going for a Froch LKO but would not be surprised if we see a controversial win for Groves....this setting up a Rubber match year end....maybe with Frampton vs Quigg on the under card.
