Birther hit by global warming
The trumpmasters Trump international Ireland has been struck by the very phenomenon he is so keen to deny. Or are the chinese just getting some pay back on trump?
I am sure you will all join me in reveling in the Trumps stupidity.
Golf Digest wrote:
Noted global-warming skeptic Donald Trump appears to be dealing with the effects of global warming at Doonbeg
The Irish Examiner reported Donald Trump will be visiting his new Doonbeg Resort, where winter storms have wreaked havoc on the seaside course: Significant erosion has caused the fifth green and 14th hole to be relocated, and cliffs have become exposed. The reason this is particularly problematic is because if the dunes near these cliffs collapse with people nearby, there's a good chance those people are going to get hurt.
During his short visit, Trump will work on plans to put up coastal protection on four holes and the bigger issue of rebuilding the 14th green. Trump has hit a few environmental road blocks on his way to resurrecting sections of the course -- the biggest being the tiny whorl snail. The snail was a protected species, so Trump couldn't use the land the snail was on. After many conversations with environmental groups, Trump has gotten the go ahead to use the land he wants. He has big plans for the course, saying he will be "doubling or tripling" his $20.5 million investment in the resort.
Obviously, Trump has a keen interest in salvaging this new investment, which he purchased in February and will rename Trump International Golf Links Ireland. But this situation is perhaps a little ironic because the storms that caused the erosion were (arguably) a product of global warming. While Trump hasn't said anything about climate change in regards to the Doonbeg erosion, he's made clear he doesn't believe in global warming.@DonaldTrump wrote:Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump

Do we know for sure global warming caused these storms? For an answer, I reached out to environmentalist and author Bill McKibben, who steered me toward a few guys in the U.K. who seem to believe these global-warming claims are true.
The Prime Minister of the UK, David Cameron: "We are seeing more abnormal weather events. Colleagues across the House can argue about whether that is linked to climate change or not. I very much suspect that it is."
The British Government's main climate science adviser, chief scientist Dame Julia Slingo, in regards to the winter storms: "All the evidence suggests there is a link to climate change."
Regardless of whether or not you believe Trump is battling climate change, he's still battling for golf. And we certainly appreciate that.
I am sure you will all join me in reveling in the Trumps stupidity.

Coastal erosion isn't new Mac, and not necessarily a result of global warming.

Global warming and the fact humans are contributing is pretty much scientific fact at this moment. Until comprehensive evidence comes along to disprove it, I'm afraid you're stuck with ~95% of the World's experts agreeing that it is, in fact, true. Sorry.
Why let (lack of) expertise get in the way of a good rant eh?

No one is denying that Navy (well Trump is), we are simply saying that coastal erosion is a natural process and can't necessarily be attributed to global warming in this particular instance.
Erosion happens regardless of climate change.
Please remember I worked in coastal erosion for 3 years.

Point taken. That's the trouble with a lot of the global warming - people trying (or denying) that a specific event is/isn't the result of that.

Re: Birther hit by global warming
There's also a massive confusion between global warming, hum induced global warming and climate change. They aren't the same things, but the media/government/general public acts like they are.
Things change, dealing with it is the important thing, not necessarily the reasons for i and not trying to maintain an impossible utopian environmental equilibrium.

The Menie Dune in Aberdeen is a good example of 'moving nature' but, try telling that to Trump!

Trumps visit to Ireland was on the news the other evening. He got off the jet and was met by a red carpet(much like the one on his head), and a group of traditional musicians who fiddled for him. The sycophancy was nauseating.

Did the locals put that on for him, or did trump himself set it up as a PR/ego massaging exercise?

Re: Birther hit by global warming
It seems to have been organised by the government, as the Minister for Finance was there to greet Trump in person. If you can find a video of it online it was quite a bizarre scene.

Re: Birther hit by global warming
Trump is "still battling for golf". Did Golf Digest really write that? How much farther up themselves (or Trump) can they possibly get??
Anyone with half a brain knows the only thing Trump battles for is Trump and the beaver pelt on top of his numbskull.
I'd like to know what Bill McKibben really thinks about Trump; I don't think the unexpurgated version would be acceptable to the editorial pillocks at Golf Digest who repeatedly allow their political deviances to insinuate themselves into GD articles.

kwini ... any idea what the word is on your side of the pond re Trump's financial status. He just seems to seamlessly float from one deal to the next. Some reports I read years ago suggested he was up to his eyes in debt and getting sued right, left and centre (a German bank springs to mind). To me, it all looks like a Trump version of a Ponzi scheme! I just don't understand how he can come out of some of those deals with any change in his pocket.

Re: Birther hit by global warming
gael,
No idea, all reports about him are so full of obfuscation it's impossible to know the truth.
But at one time he used to go by the mantra:
"If you owe a bank $1M, that's your problem."
"If you owe a bank $100M, that's their problem."
I now suspect the second part of that should read $1B.
I would think anyone doing business with Drumpf would be wise to ensure every transaction is cash only.
I think one or two of his gaming/casino companies are still in Chapter 11 (or their equivalent). But don't know for sure. Ponzi Scheme is probably right.
I just despise him and all/anything he stands for. America at its worst.
