2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
First topic message reminder :
Seems as though Joe Cole has been released by West Ham, might be a solid bargain for a lower league team if hes prepared to drop

Ashley Cole is leaving Chelsea as expected.
Liverpool and Inter Milan interested apparently.
I wouldn't mind signing Cole, but I imagine he is going to be on very high wages so will probably go abroad.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I am not so sure, when he came back into the Chelsea side after months out he slotted in magnificently and defensively was absolutely rock solid. That is after he was out of the team for months, so I imagine with consistent football he would be even better.
I don't want to pay him £80-£100 grand a week though and would only consider him if he was interested in staying at the top level of the game and so took a pay cut.

He was kept fresh and within a team where he only had to concentrate on defending. His age would be exposed rather badly in an attacking side like Liverpool I'd imagine. Early retirement with Rio in America makes more sense

Oh Azzy, just quiet because WBA were not the conquerors he predicted (I kid, I miss his input).

Ashley Cole would be a great signing for Liverpool IMO.
Would love to see that, don't want to see Cole leave the Prem just yet.

A relatively respected ITK on a West Ham site I go on has suggested Barry's agent has spoken to a few clubs, including ours, and Barry is chasing a two year deal on around £80-100k a week

This why there needs to be a wage cap put in place, the lower table teams or even lower division teams can't pick up these players for a reasonable wage any more so end up having to spend a large chunk of their budget on one players wages.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Someone will. They'll offset the cost. They'll say "well, a player of that quality would cost X amount so whilst we pay him £9m over two years its really this amount for the transfer". Thats why Lescott will be chased this summer

Think id rather pay Barry 100 grand a week than Nolan 65 grand a week tbh.

Depends when. Considering what the extra 35k gets us, I actually probably wouldnt, and I'm not a Nolan fan.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Barry offers very little for his money, just crab football & abit of protection, which any decent holding midfielder could offer. He's another year older, another yard slower, whoever offers him anything over £50k needs their head examining.
We all know what will happen, his agent will offer him around, no one will bite most probably & then Barry goes crying back to Everton & proclaims it was Everton all along that he wanted to play for

Looks like we're signing Mauro Zarate. Other snippets suggest we're trying to get Niang on loan (can't see that working out). Also sounds like Colback has chosen Newcastle

Remember Zarate on loan at Birmingham, interesting to see how he's developed since then.
Colback......oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. A free transfer, we know what direction we are going in this window. Nothing more than a squad player, who`s versatile. Not impressed, if true.

I'd take him. Young, does a job, won't be big wages and hes going to improve further. On a free its an easy get

is Newcastle still looking to sign Cabella from Montpelier? decent player with potential, at least better signing than say Payet

Yeah, Cabella is younger, has more potential & also re-sale value will probably double, which Ashley wants. We've been linked for months, believe it when I see it though.

The Kroos rumours seem to be coming to the fore again but like the Shaw transfer all sources seem to suggest any deal for either would be concluded after the world cup which just isn't good enough.

The added price if they perform well makes it a risk better avoided, the sooner we get our business done the better.

I expected as much when they continued to drag out the LVG appointment. I would rather they maybe agree fees now though so not to get ripped off after a player might have a half decent world cup
Although rumoured on three Twitter pages (take with a pinch of salt) that because Kroos has only 12 months on his contract a deal may be done at as little as £20 million

They've said they aren't offering him a new contract. They'll sell him and United are in prime position. Sounds like it'll actually come off.

Bacary Sagna medical complete at City, apparently wages in excess of £100k

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
100 grand a week for Sagna?
And people called Barry 100 grand madness. That takes it to the next level!
Sagna will be sitting on the bench at Citeh.

Most seem to reckon around 150k.
He's not going to play ahead of Zabaleta. was awful when pushed to LB and can play CB when needed but i can't see him getting in the side.
Telegraph bringing out the usual Cesc report that we can sign him for 25m with 1st choice.

Sagnas useful depth for a free.
As somebody said, free agents generally get overpaid because of competition and no transfer fee. City are paying him around 5m a year, but have saved about 15-20m on transfer fees alone.

Every report seems to suggest we're close to a Kroos deal Dolph except for the Telegraph, when every other newspaper is reporting the opposite i'd take it with a pinch of salt.
