Van gals supposed list;
Shaw, hummels, robben, kroos, muller.
Pure paper speculation IMO.
Not sure muller is needed and as fantastic a player robben is he is the wrong side of 30 and would cost an absolute bomb.

Muller would be a good signing.
Much stronger side than last season. Sell Rooney, add depth.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I don't get the fascination with Muller. Technically he's not great, he just somehow pops up in the right positions to score goals. Okay, that's not a bad thing but he wouldn't excite me, if I was a United supporter. He also has no pace whatsoever, something United would need to add, as Mata is slow, along with Carrick. Where does Rooney fit in too? Can't see it happening at all.
More likely - Shaw, Garay, Strootman & Reus (bold in the bag most likely already). Don't think United will go full out this summer, spending over £100m. It's not just about throwing the money immediately at players, it's a transition back to the top 4 first & then attempt to bring players in to win the EPL in 2015/16 in my opinion.

United will spend over £100m. They spend big money this summer then they'll make money on the stock exchange. Shaw and Stroot for about £60-70m. Garay at least £15m. If we say they're at £80m, I can't see how their problems are solved by just those 3 and the problems they have are in positions that will cost major dollar. If they sign two centre backs then surely one has to leave? And I can't see it being Jones or Smalling so is Evans, arguably the most consistent centre back at United for a couple years, on the way out?
Townsend would do well under Pardew. Martinez is an excellent coach but whether Townsend gets in the Everton side I don't know. He will at the Toon and Pardew will love a player like him.

Not sure any of those deals are in the bag. Shaw may well have other suitors.
Don't think Roma will seek strootman and I'll believe the garay thing when he is wearing a united shirt and signing a contract - thisnis like the 5th year in a row we have been linked with him.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I'd say Shaw is. Chelsea are mindful of FFP & they've bought Costa for £32m. They also want another midfielder to replace Lampard. They already have Apilicueta & the returning Bertand. Jose says there will be only small changes at Chelsea or slight tinkering, I'd say they wouldn't be involved, especially as they know other rivals can out-bid them. City have just been fined by FFP & only want to enhance areas that are needing to be strengthened. That would be a central defender & cover for Yaya Toure in central midfield. They also look to have snapped up Sagna, therefore they would have Sagna, Zabaleta, Clichy & Kolarov in the full back positions.
Who else would be truly interested in Shaw at that price, domestically?

All the same Ent, you're clearly going to make investments in a few areas, and big investments. £100m seems the minimum

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I can see a repeat of last summer, hopefully behind the scenes work has been going on for months and months.
Until the manager is confirmed I see minimal attraction for top players.
Shaw most likely out of those 3 but I can still see city or Chelsea going in for him.

cant understand that, will never get in front of zab and has been poor for a few season now.
does he count as a "homegrown" player for the champions league, its the only thing i can think of as they are down to 21 man squad and still need 8 "homegrown" players in that 21
city really could do with getting rid of the likes of sinclair, richards, rodwell but may need to keep them now because of this ruling

I seriously think Muller is distinctly average as a footballer in comparison to his technically gifted team-mates, hence why Guardiola has no time for him. He does have this uncanny knack though of popping up & scoring & then he has that shocking celebration & annoying grin, which you just want to smash off his face. I don't think he'd bring anything to United, slow, not a great passer & doesn't seem to fit into the 'United' way of up-tempo attacking with speed play.
Do you think Sagna can play left back? He is also a 'home-grown' player, seeing as he's been in London for around seven years.

Liverpool are the big movers in today's rumours. £40m for Lallana and Lovren, with others suggesting Lovren is a target but not speculating on prices.
Guardian (I think) also saying Liverpool want Bertrand and Shaqiri. Those 4 would probably do the job, though can't see Bertrand being the answer at left back.

Liverpool won't get shaqri proving king united pay Poopie loads if money for kroos or a reject.
Muller is top class and doesn't look it.
Sagna is the Poopie fullback to look anywhere near competent in 2" years and I hope someone I stupid enough to pay him 100k plus a week.

Newcastle linked with Dimitri Payet for a cut-price £6m. Apparently, Marseille are in a financial situation, that needs them to raise funds before June.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Would like to sign Lallana. Lovren will be overpriced, in that £40 million deal, I assume Lovren would count for £15 million of it which is too much for me. Said time and time again that throwing money at the defence and new players won't help. It is all about stability and the different players knowing and trusting each other. Rodgers needs to think of the back five as a unit rather than a collection of individual players.
Don't want to go anywhere near Bertrand who looked rubbish at Aston Villa, can see Rodgers thinking he can do what he has done for Bertrand that he has done for Sturridge and Coutinho and Sinclair before them. Would rather have Enrique and Flanagan.
Shaqri would be a decent signing and would make sense considering the desperation for depth in the last few transfer windows, but depends on who else Bayern sell and bring in I would have thought.

Yeah Lovren to Liverpool surprises me a bit. No way Lovern is better than than Sahko, Agger and Skirtel, no way. In fact i wouldn't argue if someone said Kolo Toure is better.

Chelsea signing Mandzukic is gaining momentum
If we end up with a strike force that has Costa and Mandzukic next season then I will be extremely happy.
Ideally for Chelsea: Zouma (already signed), Costa, Mandzukic and Barkley

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I would have thought it will be either/or when it comes to Costa and Mandzukic, can't see both coming. Even if Chelsea get rid of all their existing forwards, not sure Costa or Mandzukic will want to share their time.

Just like Aguero, Dzeko and Negredo do....
You need at least two quality forwards in case of injury/gives an option to go two up front

Yeah, thats exactly why. We don't have enough and he's crud, thats why I want him. A man averaging 28/29 appearance in the league each year for Spurs and with 21 England caps. A man who can reach 20mph. In a team who have Carroll, Nolan, Downing and Jarvis going forward currently. Who finished 13th. Is only 27. Has played in the Champions League and Europa League. With 21 England caps. You're right. forget him.
Milner has apparently asked to leave City. Arsenal and Liverpool linked, mainly Arsenal. City would rather he didnt as they need homegrown players.
Reported also that Liverpool are after Leverkusen's Emre Can, with Bild saying the deal is done at 12m Euros.

Written by the good people at 101 Great Goals:
In an interview with Bein Sports, Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala said he would rather join Chelsea than Manchester City.
The 23-year-old French international is admired by a host of top clubs and is highly-valued by Porto who would only sell if a massive offer came in.
Mangala said: “It is true that I love the Premier League because it is a spectacular championship. In January, there were discussions with City, but it fell through because the two clubs could not reach an agreement. (Choosing between) City or Chelsea? Chelsea because it is London.”

He's 27. And people don't lose pace overnight. A year younger than Jarvis and three years on Downing, both of whom are slower than Lennon and both of whom Ive seen beat full backs for pace this season. For a team like us, I'm not worried. Id take him over pretty much any winger we could realistically land (not that I think we'll sign him)

If Muller is anything he is certainly not slow , he is very quick, a good headerer of the ball, very composed in front of goal and scores in games that really matter. He wouldn't move to Man United though, what's the point.John wrote:compelling and rich wrote:John wrote:I don't get the fascination with Muller. Milner has City by the balls. His agent must be in dreamland with this contract negotiation, all the power is in their hands with this home grown demand & City struggling to fill the gaps. Be amazed if he left City, he'll be offered a mammoth contract.
