Tonights Action - Spoilers
First topic message reminder :
Who's watching tonight then? Rees vs Buckland has a lot to live up to after the first fight and with it being Rees's last fight before he retires I wonder how much he has left.

Tony's a headcase. He believes what he says. Sometimes the world needs headcases, boxing definitely does.

Talks a great fight Bellew. Clev Bellew 2 will sell regardless of how bang average they look.
Liverpool arena, yes. Cardiff City stadium, no chance.

For a guy with long arms Cleverly really lacks an outside range side to his game

Re: Tonights Action - Spoilers
Clev should give everybody a present and drop that chump. Anyway now a fighter who actually has the talent that Bellew likes to think he has...enter the new star of Featherweight boxing...Lee Selby

No one really expected much with the Cleverly fight was all about the main event and Buckland Vs Rees.

The Mexican has a nice quick jab. I reckon the left hook will also be good.
Selby looks to lack power.

Re: Tonights Action - Spoilers
The fight on 5 is insane! The commentator said the round was scored 10-6 as one of the fighters went down twice. Is that right?

I don't think I have seen a fight away so back and forth ever like that one. It reminded me of the Eubank Watson fight.
Re: Tonights Action - Spoilers
I can sympathise with the ref for stopping it. I don't honk he was particularly hurt but he looked messed up!FreekShow wrote:Adam D wrote:The fight on 5 is brilliant.

Agree Hampo...
They've been talking about getting him a fight with Donaire!
Imagine what Donaire would do to him based on this performance...

If Selby's getting rocked by a young prospect, imagine what a KO slugger like Jhonny Gonzalez would do to him. Let alone the Filipino Flash...

I think he boxed well. He doesn't seem to have the physicality to really put it on an opponent and he'd get found out at world level, but he won every round or close to it.

Re: Tonights Action - Spoilers
Wow - what a fantastic fight Dickinson and Clarkson served up. Not sure if it was quite as fantastic as Coyle-Brizuela a few months back....But certainly not far off.
Just a shame that a similarly debatable stoppage took a bit of the shine off it. I think the referee was perhaps surprised and shocked that the ringside doc didn't stop it a few moments before when he inspected Clarkson, and maybe was under the influence of additional urges because of that. But when you look at the state of Clarkson's face, there can't be any doubt that he was acting on good intentions. But still, if you're not going to stop Dickinson in the fifth when it looked as if he could hardly breathe or lift his arms up, then you've got to give Clarkson a bit more of the benefit of the doubt, for me.
But a cracking fight.
Anyone else spotting the same patterns in Selby fights as we've seen in Degale's in the past couple of years? Flashes of brilliance at times, tapering off in the middle and looking vulnerable, but then able to pick it up just enough near the end to make absolutely sure of it. Selby's got such quick, tricky hands and can counter superbly, but he's not as slippery or elusive as he thinks he is. His defence, for the most part, is good - but it's not water-tight. After the knockout of Smith he hit a great run where he was on an upward curve, but for me there are just a few signs that he's stagnating ever so slightly right now. He's not going to develop in to that hard punching boxer-puncher we thought he might, so it's time to start sharpening up that defence and not leaving his head as exposed as he does. Nowt wrong with being a 'stylist' rather than exciting if it means success.

Dickinson v Clarkson.............WTF!!!!!
That's my fight of the year so far. Just finished watching the Sky card and didn't realise I'd series link this on Channel 5. Thank Frak for TiVo.
Anyone who hadn't seen it. Watch it now.
