First topic message reminder :

Well, as I started one for the Championship, it seems now is the time for the Premier League 2014/15 thread to begin!

We have all our teams, with Leicester, Burnley and QPR replacing Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich. Can City retain, can United break into the top four, how will Liverpool cope with Champions League football. All this and more can be discussed as we see how the transfers, the rumours, the World Cup and everything else make an impact on the Premier League before it all kicks off?

I'll open it up...the Telegraph, Sky Sports and others report Pochettino is top of Spurs' shortlist and could be unveiled in the next week. Thoughts? Sounds the perfect fit to me. Some suggesting he'll bring Rodriguez with him, although that sounds like immediate clutching to me.

Think Hull will do ok, despite the extra games.

Still going with Swansea, Baggies & Burnley.

Listening to Talksport on the way home, they had 10 questions for the callers.

One was who will be the first team to be relegated.

A few of them said Villa.

I will never say we will go down( despite that being very likely).

It doesn't bode well.

More of what I think Lambert will pick.

But our squad is poor.

The club is a shambles at the minute.

Lerner cant sell.

Not looking a good prospect.

BUT

I will keep the faith & say we will be ok........................................................ just.

Arsenal taking it more seriously than Manchester City, will be interesting to see Sanchez in action.

I found this amusing. As bad as Piers Morgan's tweets about Ramsey being a waste of space.

Arsenal too good for Citeh, although it is abundantly obvious which team wants to win more.

And Yaya Sanogo, the chicken: just how is he anywhere near Arsenal's starting eleven?

The Community shield only means something if both teams take it seriously and quite clearly Pellegrini was treating it as a friendly and nothing more.

I went to the game today and the whole sense around the ground, it seemed like Citeh were treating it like a friendly whilst Arsenal were treating like it like a cup final.

Still very impressed with Arsenal, if they can sign a world class DM they will be genuine title contenders IMO.

Loved doing the posnan as well after Giroud's goal  Laugh

Arsenal still lack that goal scoring striker. I know they've signed Sanchez and I think they believe they'll score plenty of goals from midfield, wide areas and giroud but in the top games against the top defences in the pressure situations, that's where you need a top striker. Also the lack of cdm is still a problem. Arteta/Ramsey/Wilshere is too lightweight and unbalanced in my view.

I thought the change of formation augurs well for Arsenal this season both as an attacking and defensive standpoint. For the first time playing a 4-1-2-3/4-1-4-1, allows Arsenal to play a on the counter a bit more. The pace of Alexis/Walcott/Campbell/The Ox could prove deadly. I think integrating Ozil into the big games could prove problematic.

City lacked desire, Yaya Toure was particularly lethargic. Yesterday should prove the final straw for Micah Richards. If he can't get a game at right back ahead of Gael Clichy, or a centre back instead of Dedryck Boyata then it's time to go.

Didier Drogba out for 4-6 months apparently.

One injury to Costa and your relying on Fernando Torres  picard Going to need a better back up forward then that.

By all accounts it worked well using McLaren, might be worth a punt.

Yes, that was a "P" in punt...

I think it's a good move for all parties. Redknapp can't have too many years left, so Hoddle may be his long term replacement.

Oh man.., pulis odds to be the next manager to leave has gone from 40/1 to 3/1..

Most of the bets were placed from punters close to where he is from..

I think it's due to a clash between parish and pulis over zaha.

I wouldn't be surprised if TP just doesn't want him but parish is pushing him into trying to sign him...

I am a big zaha fan. But parish don't pressure pulis. I didn't expect pulis to want zaha anyway. I doubt he would start most games . Getting ahead of puncheon and Bolaise would be a tough ask as TP needs the players to play box to box and defend well.

I hope we keep pulis even if that means we don't get Zaha. Survival is more important.

If Pulis goes then I imagine Crystal Palace would be in great difficulty as far as survival goes.

But as long as the demands of Pulis are not too ambitious or extravagant, then I would imagine he will get what he desires because he is utterly vital to Palace.

Not the best preparation for Saturday!

Arsenal fans are fickle. Not all of them, but some, in general are just terrible. Thinking they are better than Liverpool because they won the FA Cup against Hull and then the Charity Shield. Yes, all be it, they have won 2 trophies in their last 2 games but, Liverpool have accomplished a higher league position and a stable Champions League spot. I believe it takes more character from a club to come from consecutive mid table finishes in the Premier League, to title challengers, within one season, than to come from 2-0 down against a team in a Cup final. It was laid on 1 man, Brendan Rodgers. He has done a fantastic job and he needs to make sure that he shows even more character now, bringing the best out of his players that he has bought and having faith in the rest of his squad that they can replace Suarez's ability. It still does take character for a team to do what Arsenal did in the FA Cup final, but it is just a one-off game. Anything can happen. Hull scored far too early in that game and that essentially cost them the trophy. Arsenal had plenty of time to realise the situation, react and score 3 goals. Even at 2-0, Arsenal still looked like the only winners, when you look at the bigger picture.

I don't believe that Southampton will be as bad as what people think they will be. Yes, teams are consigned to selling 1 or maybe 2 of their best players in one transfer window, and not as many as what Southampton have done, they have taken a risk, but its all about prefer-ability when it comes to managers choices. They are big players that have been sold for big prices, but they have actually brought some good players in, its all about how well they gel together. But I'm sure with Keoman's experience, he will know how to resolve this problem. Long, Pelle, Tadic, Taider, Bertrand, Forster and Gardos all seem like top signings to me. He has gone and replaced the players he has sold quite well actually and have done well for all of their clubs, outstandingly well some of them. He hasn't just gone and given a player a 2nd chance to prove himself, he has bought players that have consistently performed to a good standard for their previous clubs. So I think he has done well to replace them.

Man United will not finish top of the table this season, they'll do well to get into Europe again this season. I think they might turn out like Liverpool. Have a few changes and under perform for seasons to come and then they might suddenly have a change of plan and try something different that becomes successful. Its all about testing and experimenting with what works for United. They don't have enough quality and character to show what Liverpool did last season. Their defence just doesn't seem of the top quality. But I do feel their midfield has improved, as Ander Herrera's box to box antics can be handful for teams. He doesn't have that power, but he has the creativity to play in a CM box to box role, he is no attacking midfielder IMO. Once they sign a couple more players that adds some quality to their defence, then they might just improve, but gradually. But I wouldn't be surprised to still see United finish in an awkward European position this forthcoming season.

I'm hoping this season will be as good as the last anyhow.
