We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Well, as I started one for the Championship, it seems now is the time for the Premier League 2014/15 thread to begin!
We have all our teams, with Leicester, Burnley and QPR replacing Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich. Can City retain, can United break into the top four, how will Liverpool cope with Champions League football. All this and more can be discussed as we see how the transfers, the rumours, the World Cup and everything else make an impact on the Premier League before it all kicks off?
I'll open it up...the Telegraph, Sky Sports and others report Pochettino is top of Spurs' shortlist and could be unveiled in the next week. Thoughts? Sounds the perfect fit to me. Some suggesting he'll bring Rodriguez with him, although that sounds like immediate clutching to me.

I think people backing United to jump six spots are seeing the folly of what was a rather presumptuous prediction... That said, it's tough to read to much into this. I think United will catch on by Jan, and make a late surge to fourth... before then, I think they'll be a little scratchy, trying to adapt

United's got tougher games in the second half of the season, especially the run-in - Liverpool (a), Man City (h), Chelsea (a), Everton (a) & Arsenal (h) all in the last 8 games. Would be sum late surge, I wouldn't back them

Don't think any one has backed a title challenge.
I think well have enough for top 4 with everyone fit but it will be close.

Boozebag McGregor is one of the best goalies in the country. If Gordon can get himself back to full fitness, Scotland would have 3 great keepers to choose from.

Superb effort by Leicester to gain parity against Everton.
Six games in the Premier League so far and not one single home victory. Those are grounds for optimism, Mysti!
And a late winner for Tottenham! Precious, precious points.

Hangeland 1-0. Always a set piece threat. Same old Arsenal, pretty football no end product. No striker signed was a big mistake, Sanchez been disappointing

One nil Palace! Arsenal somewhat blunt in attack, despite their mounds of possession.

Arsenal have no one in midfield to break up and play and no striker with a killer instinct and a knack for where the goal is. They buy players they don't need. Also on buying players seems benatia is off to utd somehow, will still be amazed if we sign him

Apparently Martinez quoted Barkley could be out for anywhere between 7 weeks to 4-5 months.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Arsenal were below par but got the result. Still have the same old issues really, top 4 is pretty much guaranteed but the next step will once again be too far for them. Expect the same difficulties against the top teams with that limited strikeforce.
As for Barkley, real shame. Hearing it's now 5-6 months out. Basically Everton were hoping that making loans permanent & the youths natural development would keep them challenging. I'm already ruling Everton out of top 4 contention.

Fairly content with today we were poor if it ends with 3 pts it'll do really. If we leave Wilshere as DM as today seemed it's going to end badly. Santi seemed like he's head was back in Spain or was seriously unfit.

Think Wenger is going to be seduced by the offensive midfield talent at his disposal, and try fit everyone into one team.

I see Madrid want Khedira gone Raf. Apparently knocked the price down to about 10-12m last i saw We need a LB though every season Gibbs pulls his hamstring and it's f**king ridiculous it's like he's hold together by rubber bands

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
We weren't fluid by any stretch of the imagination today. Palace will be disappointed to concede two goals from set pieces. Alexis looked flashy at times but lacks understanding of his team mates, and often made the wrong decision. That relationship will come in time.
Thought it was Ramsey worst performance in ages, but top players come up with the goods even when having an off day.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
My points were valid on Everton, instead of editing my post. I wanted them challenging but thought it was a poor summer for them, just making loans permanent. Today's result sums them up, just can't take the points & always falling short. Yeah, one game in, but missing Barkley is a huge blow now, they were banking on the natural progression of him, Stones & Coleman. Just think they will struggle to challenge top 4

Predicting Everton won't get in the top four is like predicting Burnley will be in the bottom three. Highly likely.

Cheers Nando. At this stage I don't even care how much we get for him, he just needs to leave. I'll forever hold the memories of Iniesta punching holes through him clásico after clásico

Could be worse atleast Raf. You could be Thiago Motta - Brandao waited for him in the tunnel after the game and nutted him and broke Motta's nose.
