We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Well, as I started one for the Championship, it seems now is the time for the Premier League 2014/15 thread to begin!
We have all our teams, with Leicester, Burnley and QPR replacing Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich. Can City retain, can United break into the top four, how will Liverpool cope with Champions League football. All this and more can be discussed as we see how the transfers, the rumours, the World Cup and everything else make an impact on the Premier League before it all kicks off?
I'll open it up...the Telegraph, Sky Sports and others report Pochettino is top of Spurs' shortlist and could be unveiled in the next week. Thoughts? Sounds the perfect fit to me. Some suggesting he'll bring Rodriguez with him, although that sounds like immediate clutching to me.

Arsenal dominated possession early on, but could get through Palace's defence. After Hangerland scored Palace looked comfortable, and it was imperative they got through to half time level. Obviously this didn't happen as Hangerland switched of as Koscielny put away a difficult chance.
The Gunners improved slightly when Giroud came on, as it gave the attack a better focal point, and Palace began to tire. As Arsenal pushed forward, Palace did have a few chances to counter, but didn't have the quality to pick out Campbell.
Puncheon got sent off for a second bookable offence with five minutes to go, but Palace still look like hanging on until they failed to defend a corner properly, leaving both Debuchy and Ramsey free in the box for Arsenal to score the winner. As I said earlier, Arsenal scarely deserved the win.
For Palace, Chamakh ran his heart out. Joel Ward did well in an unfamiliar position at left back keeping Alexis quiet. He was rarely helped by Bolasie who shirked his defensive responisibilities at time. Martin Kelly was solid in his debut as well.

Liverpool have spent £101m and are considerably worse on paper. Good effort that

Was thinking that.
Have to see how they play as their team wasn't amazing on paper last year either.

Sterling and coutinho the game changers for Liverpool. Nothing much else out there really. Still think their defence will leak goals. Mingolet is dodgy, Johnson is appalling in defence and manquillo is unproven in this league and on debut. Sturridge you never know what you'll get. Would love it if Southampton got a result today, how ironic would that be.

A lot to be said for confidence and form.
I expect them to be better than they are on paper, challenging for 4th spot.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I'm probably one of the few people who thought gerrard wasn't that good last season, nearly all of his assists were from set pieces rather than open play, nothing wrong with that don't get me wrong but it turned a blind eye to his poor performances in open play. Don't think he's good enough to play the "1/4 back role". He as the long range passing but isn't good at the short stuff and keeping the tempo going which is what made scholes such a brilliant player. Gerrards legs have gone and Liverpool need to be looking at his long term replacement fast and not make the same mistake utd have made in not replacing Keane and scholes

Good half of football. Southampton will be fine this season. Could do with a couple more players though.

Sturridge is through on goal, Lallana runs in and takes him out. Gerrard squares up to Lallana and Lambert hits him in the back with a steel chair. The NWO music plays

And now the main event @ st James'. No de Jong or cheick could see us struggle, hopefully we get a decent performance & maybe a point. Hoping Cabella can impress like Tadic did for Southampton

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Good win that, performance left a lot to be desired but good to see the knack of winning has carried on from last season, too often in the past Liverpool would lose that game.
Thought Lovren looked really good considering he only played one pre-season game all season, glad to see somebody barking out orders. Johnson will be dropped for the next game anyway for Moreno. Manquillo struggled with Tadic but grew into the game.
Thought Ward-Prowse was the best player, but Sterling had a fantastic game as well, well taken goal, assist and the most dangerous Liverpool player.
Defence will improve as they play together more, can't see Lucas starting many more games this season which will be an improvement.
3 points is the most important thing.

Raheem Sterling is such a lovely player.
Hodgson must play him at ten for England, not Rooney.

Quality flick from Dzeko, similar to Tadic's early today. Cool finish from Silva. City showing the composure that Newcastle have lacked so far.

I don't even think we are that bad.
They just watched 2 players walk into their box unopposed.
This lad Cabella is a waste of time too, fancy dan.

Ent worry about your own sides issues, not ours
Not expecting a result, think we look alright though for what we are. Think we should of bought Remy cos rivière looks special needs. We just need time to bed the team in & bring de Jong/santon/tiote in. Optimistic for the season
