We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Well, as I started one for the Championship, it seems now is the time for the Premier League 2014/15 thread to begin!
We have all our teams, with Leicester, Burnley and QPR replacing Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich. Can City retain, can United break into the top four, how will Liverpool cope with Champions League football. All this and more can be discussed as we see how the transfers, the rumours, the World Cup and everything else make an impact on the Premier League before it all kicks off?
I'll open it up...the Telegraph, Sky Sports and others report Pochettino is top of Spurs' shortlist and could be unveiled in the next week. Thoughts? Sounds the perfect fit to me. Some suggesting he'll bring Rodriguez with him, although that sounds like immediate clutching to me.

Fabregas looked quality yesterday. I think Chelsea are going to be the team to beat this season. Wasn't conveinced with Courtois either.

Some people still predicted Chelsea to play boring this season, just won't happen, now Jose has the players. Thought they played great, okay, it's only Burnley, but they were enjoyable to watch with Cesc pulling the strings & the front three of Schurrle, Hazard & Costa looking dangerous. Of course, Jose will still play slightly more defensive in the big games but that is to be expected, unless your Wenger. Chelsea definitely favourites for me, just ahead of City. I see those two breaking away quite easily through Xmas into the New Year with the squad depth advantage, followed by Arsenal in third. Fourth is a toss of a coin between Liverpool & United for me.

I didn't think Chelsea would be boring vs the lesser teams. My question was whether Jose was revert to type in big games

think i must be the only one who thought it wasnt a pen on diego costa, he left his leg trailing to instigate the contact. usually if you make the contact on the other player its a foul the other way round. yellow slightly harsh but he went down looking for a pen not because of the contact made him so not the worse decision
only way were going to get rid of players diving is if we stop giving fouls everytime a player "wins" a free kick by going down easy. ref made a decision so fair play to him, id take that than a ref who sh!ts it and makes no decision at all

Nope meet your mate, I also found it quite hard to fathom GNev and Carra were also in agreement.
First point he was obviously playing for the pen and had no intention of taking it round the keeper, then he dangles his trailing leg as goes past to try and INTIATE the contact. The keeper did not touch him, he touched the keeper. Regardless of the contact, how can that be a pen when its was Costa that touched the keeper? Booking deserved IMO.

Good. And good for him as well. What ever anyone says about Parish he is No TAN!!
I hope he and palace can stay up despite the issues they have faced.
He is a nice bloke and a decent manager..
I heard we got a 25k fine for that incident involving the team sheets.. More of a p!ss take really.. even we can afford that. It seems like one of those UEFA racism fines..

Good appointment. Would of kept Cardiff up. Did a superb job for them, chance for him to show that stupid Cardiff owner why they shouldn't of sacked him!

Have to admire Stan's righteousness when all anyone has to do in an argument with him is mention dogging or Ulrika Johnssen.

Malky did a good job in the Championship, but however you cut it, 17 points in 18 games in the PL wasn't good enough, given some of the players brought in. I wonder if Palace are more concerned with getting their house in order financially and building a squad well equipped to come back up.

They obviously want to stay up- but not ruin any wage structure and also put as much into improving the ground....
1pt a game with that squad(Cardiff) isn't that bad in all fairness(better than what olly gunner did(13pts in 20) and certainly a lot better than what holloway did)
If he can get that up to 1.2 a game we will stay up garranteed- and even 1pt a game would have kept the team up last year- the top relagation team only got 33 pts from 38 games

Seems like Vincent Tan might have had something to do with Mackay not getting the Palace job. The timing of handing over this dossier seems pretty vindictive.

I don't know what to believe. I dont understand what's going on. But why anyone at palace would care about a what tan says unless there is something much more to this which we dont knlw about..now we are in a position where we have to back track and ask Sherwood who wasn't our no.1 pick.
Odd stuff going on at palace and Cardiff..

There are some reports that Hoddle's turned down the Palace job as well. Might as well keep Millen in charge to give the place a bit of stability.

Malkay is a racist tw*t - you think you know someone hey!
And expect Moody to be sacked
Tan couldn't you have told us a bit sooner you evil b$stard.- how about when we offered Moody a job!!- we would never have taken him on. Rules state they should report any major misconduct not hide it away, and now on the back of it they want to sue palace, when it was his own players that told his ex employee the team sheet.

Definitely makes Vincent Tan look a lot less like a villain now.
They're both incredibly stupid and will now spend the rest of their careers trying to rebuild it. Reputations completely ruined, can't imagine any players of Asian descent wanting to play under Mackay now.

Farah, who left Cardiff in 2012, appears to have backed up those suggestions by claiming that Mackay was racist on a number of occasions in front of him, and that he referred to him as a "wee Egyptian" despite being born in Wales and having parents from Somaliland.
Malky mackay is racist wish the people at cardiff city seen it sooner

Every manager has his views on his players I wasn't his type of player but to treat certain player on how he did at cardiff was disgusting

Well he has no ethics for other teams IMO. He should have told the FA and palace at the time we employed moody not malky..He has got palace into a lot of rubbish when he didn't need to involve us .
Tan is certainly no hero. He is just as bad as moody and malky.. And on top of that he wants to sue palace because they went down.
News flash Tan.. If you told us what moody was like before we employed him he wouldn't have got the job and secondly it was your employees that told moody and thirdly your team deserved to go down..

What is your point GSC?
I am not quite sure how that changes anything. And even if thats what he said what does it even mean? and didn't malkay apologise anyway??
he should have told the FA about the misconduct at the time. It is even part of the laws of the FA.
It seems to me like he had an evil plan from the off and wanted to get them bad but also take palace down with them even though palace knew nothing about any of it!
Its a decent plan if you are a bunny boiling nutter, I wouldn't mind if palace weren't involved- but we are and because of that Tan will get no support from us fans.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
After his sacking last December, Mackay launched a £7.5m legal claim against Cardiff’s owner Vincent Tan for compensation and wrongful dismissal. But in May, Mackay suddenly dropped the claim and issued an apology to Tan. In a statement, Mackay said: ‘Today I have reached a settlement agreement dropping all claims I have made against Cardiff City Football Club. I did not want to be in litigation and believe that it is in the best interests of all parties to have a clean break and move on.
That was the point. If Mackay apologised and dropped his 7.5m lawsuit against Tan, he wouldn't use the information.
As for the suing, Palace being fined suggested they actually did something. Can't really blame Cardiff for pressing that issue.

who is saying there is a conspiracy against palace?
Its clear he hates moody and malkay and didnt care at all about palace(untill it was certain they would go down and we wouldn't off course!!
the point is palace have been affected by Tan. thats it- Tan is no hero - he is a first rate tw$t just like the other two

I think we will all find out soon enough why TP left now and it was probably to do with Moody than anything else..
Oh well. The only one thing I can say as a plus for tan is that he sent the dosier before we signed Malky. If he had waited a month or so it could have been even worse(much much worse!!)- I just wish he did it before we took on Moody!

LMA Statement on Mackay and yes they really have used the word Banter
The LMA wish to clarify the position in relation to recent reports and speculation regarding matters alleged to have arisen during Malky Mackay’s time at Cardiff City FC.
In the course of a search by the Club in early 2014 of 10,000 private text messages sent to and from another member of staff during Mr Mackay’s employment at Cardiff, in relation to other matters, it emerged that Malky had, it seems, sent a couple of one line texts that were, with the benefit of hindsight, very regrettable and disrespectful of other cultures. These were two text messages sent in private at a time Malky felt under great pressure and when he was letting off steam to a friend during some friendly text message banter. That said, Malky believes he could and should have conducted himself better on these two isolated occasions. The precise details need to remain private for the time being until any FA process is complete.
The LMA does not condone in any way any potential breach of equal opportunities laws but would also point out that out of over 10,000 text messages and 70,000 documents produced over a long period of time it may not be a complete surprise that some inappropriate comments can sometimes be made by employees, like Malky, working under great pressure in highly charged situations. If Malky has caused any offence by these two isolated matters he would, however, wish to sincerely apologise.
Malky finds it strange that these matters were only raised with the FA and in the media now, 8 months after his employment ended and the day before he was reported as being offered the opportunity to become manager of Crystal Palace FC.
Malky is also very concerned about seriously inaccurate and misleading reports of his alleged involvement in these matters in the media. It has never been alleged that he wrote any homophobic or sexist messages and he has confirmed that he did not do so. Further, there are incorrect and damaging suggestions that he sent a whole host of offensive and unpleasant messages that are simply not true and which give a grossly distorted and unfair view of Malky’s involvement in this matter. Malky looks forward to matters being put straight in due course, following any investigation of this matter.
Malky cannot of course comment on the nature of any conduct or communications alleged to have been made by others.
Malky has said that he will be fully co-operating with any FA investigation and that he looks forward to putting the record straight thereafter.

Think he'd be better off not making excuses to be honest. His only statement should have been to apologise I think.

A lot of conflicting issues all this for a palace fan. Its like I am on edge over my club- which i shouldn't be!!
Parish needs to make a decision - bring a new man in that brings his own team in- or promote Millen as the no.1 and stick.
He cant have both. It wont work.
TP made it work for a bit. But imagine he had brought his own in- He may have felt more likely to stay on with his own picked team around him..
Parish dont be sentimental. But if you want to be - dont bring anyone else in- give it to Keith
