Clegg - Facing Liberal grass root revolt !!
First topic message reminder :
75 Local Liberal parties need to formally request a leadership election for one to take place..Word is many of them are discussing it...
Others think whilst Ashdown is supportive of Clegg a rebellion won't happen !
Good idea or bad idea to ditch Clegg so close to GE2015 ???
If a leadership election is called make no mistake Clegg will have to go..

NO.
Several polls show both ways. More people it is estimated would vote OUT than those likely to vote IN. Which is why they do not want to give a referendum.

If the major parties want to stay in Europe which they do eg labour/lib dem/con/SNP/Green then if they offered a referendum they would make it so that a yes to independence could never happen eg 50% of all eligible voters whether they vote or not have to say yes to indeendence rather than just 50% of people who vote.
Makes it near enough impossible to get a yes vote because turnout is so low usually around 30-40% and most polls only have a 5-10% swing in favour of independence.
So if there are 50,00000 eligible voters eg that means for independence there needs to be 25000001 people voting yes for it to be 50% of the total eligible voters. at the moment we only have a total of 16000000 voting in total so that is below the 25 million mark so any referendum with less than 25 million eople voting would be decalred void. and then out of that 16 million recent polls show that between 40/45% are in favour of the EU so that leaves around 9 million people out of the 16 million who are voting yes to independence so for the YES vote to work they would need to find another 16 million people who would vote yes so that it is above 50% of total eligible voters voting and that just won't happen.

I remember the joke that Clegg tried and failed spectacularily at the 2nd debate with Farage. "We are the party of IN, Farage is the party of Put{in}"

More likely to be out of the EU. Which is why they do not want to give a referendum.

But that is only if they require 50% of eligible voters to vote yes. My guess is that they will put a minimum % on it somewhere between 40-50%

And if the majority vote out, the EU will tell us to go back and try again! Followed by Clegg dismissing the out voters as Little Englanders.

I suggest that the LibDems ditch Clegg now and forget about the 2015 GE and start rebuilding the party for the 2060 elections.

By the time it happens (if it happens), Skyeman, it is looking increasingly likely that your people will have voted to leave the United Kingdom so won't have a vote in the referendum.
It is also looking more and more probable that you will be living in a country that will be outside the EU and applying to join it.
Oh, sweet irony.

My people, you are so condescending it is unbelievable, i am English. If you bothered to read, i was the first person to mention the irony of it. Scotland if Independant may not get in at all And even if i were Scottish that would be still an inate comment.
Ehhhh, i want to be out of the EU, so win-win.
The polls are saying that the UK will stay united, which i do not mind either. Both sides have good arguments.

Skyeman your political dream is for Scotlnd to be independent of the UK and independent of the EU. Do you actually think that Scotland would grow as a country independent of the UK and EU? if so how?

If I was you I wouldn't bring up the convo of who people voted for considering you are desperate for an EU referendum yet you will vote for the SNP at the GE 2015 and YES at the scottish referendum and as we all know the SNP are refusing to back an EU referendum and are fighting tooth and nail to make an independent Scotland a new EU member state.

Aye, i remember Fourth saying to Duty, "i do not vote labour". Obviously after that nasty thread he would not vote Con/UKIP. Does not leave much else really? Maybe it was the Greens

Once again Skye you should probably keep quiet about voting patterns because ou hate the EU but vote for the most pro-EU party in the UK in the SNP.

Just to clear up one point, first. I did not call you a liar. I said you made an unfounded assumption. Big difference.
But now, come on.... engage brain for just a moment. Think about it..... why Would Truss ask me to deny something if I had already said I'd done it...? No, it doesn't make sense, does it..?
I saw Truss' comment, smiled quietly to myself and kept shtum. I don't usually disclose my voting persuasions on an open forum but just this once, and for no other reason than for the sheer pleasure of shooting you down in flames I will inform the group that at this year's Euro Elections, I voted Green*.

Nobody really cares 4, you just come across sometimes as a condescending pratt (I'm guessing you made Chief ;-)
If you reign it back a bit you do have some good points, and stop pestering Skye about voting UKIP and SNP, it was explained thoroughly ages ago.
Now shake hands and resume debating ;-)

I know what i saw Like that sneering thread that you posted that was conveniently removed by the mods {must have been offensive} for your case you mean!
Actually, I would say it was rather INconvenient for me because if it were still there, you would not be able to refer to it because its wording would be clear for all to see. Its removal allows you to give vent to your wild and unfounded allegations. Any "convenience" in this case is to your advantage as it is the removal that gives you a plausible means of pursuing your futile argument.
As for your calling me sneering, that is simply the pot calling the kettle black. Consider it dismissed out of hand.
It is you who made the allegation and, as in any such case, the burden of proof falls upon you, the accuser. I don't have to prove I didn't say anything.
You need to learn one simple lesson in life, young man. When you make an accusation you need to be able to back it up when challenged. In this instance, you can't. You have dug a hole for yourself and you're still digging...... and that says more about you than it does about me.
If you continue with this pointless bicker then you will be either talking to yourself or playing to the gallery in the hope of getting spurious support from others. Either way it makes you look even sillier. My tip: Stop digging.
I've now had my say and have nothing further to add. You can consider yourself comprehensively ignored on this thread from this point onwards. I have no intention of wasting any more time bandying words with a fool.

on your
* You might sneeringly call it a wasted vote, but it's my vote and I'll do what I want with it, thank you very much.
I have no intention of wasting any more time bandying words with a fool.
.
The fool who persists in his folly will become wise. That is you young man.

Comedic elements in it that Toppy objected to I believe...
You don't have to dig it up............I surmised he was a Liberal voter..He didn't volunteer the information..
Last time I surmise anything for a while..
Dig it up Rowley, not a problem for me. We could both look silly

Think you might be wrong Skye as 4L's said he voted Green somewhere.
Still think he needs to roll it back a little though.

Only an outside chance then, am i a 20/1 or 5000/1 shot though.
Only on this page Dm, only on this page has Fl ever stated that he voted for the Greens, as admitted.

Nah at least if your wrong you'll admit it, not twist it and take 18 pages to try and say how you was right all along.
And then go onto stalk someone and just generally go bananas

Sorry to leave you all on tenterhooks, but 4l is indeed correct, certainly on that thread he never admitted to voting Liberal. Truss assumed he did and asked him if he did, but the question went unanswered. Cue 18 pages from Skyeman telling us that is what he meant all along!
