9,000 for a ticket

If it is true how sick is it? There must be tighter ways of controlling sales for tournaments this size.

Dont understand why sites like StubHub are allowed. Part of a 'free market' of people looking to get rich without bringing anything to the table themselves, just having a parasitic relationship with big sporting events.
What a great 'industry'

Em............................. isn't selling something you don't own - as in the Brooklin Bridge - illegal?
People selling tickets they haven't bought yet can only come from people connnected, so that a certain guarantee can push the sales along. So who is selling these pre-bought!!! 'tickets' at an inflated price? Officials or family members of officials of rugby organisations - be they clubs or rugby admin organisations or companies.

I don't know what all the fuss is about - if you can't afford to follow rugby live find a cheaper sport, like formula 1 or Americas cup sailing !
Me, I've already secured 3 tickets for the final. I'm going on my own but I do like to spread out at the big games and I need a bit of space for a large tub of Beluga.

Beluga?? So yesterday's trinket of wealth.
I have a large tub of scantily clad ladies with me at every game I go to.... and some blingin' it Rappers with clean tracksuit bottoms and questionable cleanordirty briefs sticking over the side, who entertain me with some Hood'n'balls'n'know'what'I'm'sayin' attitude during the scrum resets.

Re: 9,000 for a ticket
Just booked and paid for mine as part of the Rugby Community allocation….I must say I’m a little disappointed. I’d intended taking my family (2 x adults and 2 x children) to NZ v Tonga and Georgia and the limit per game is 4. However, I’ve been limited to 2 per game. Not really the ‘family game’ that the organisers are trying to make it…
Got 2 tickets to the final too…£300 for the pair.

There was a story about this on watchdog last night and the government can stop this if they want to as they done it for the Olympics but they have decided not as it affects the free market.

Why price tickets so cheaply if you will allow them to be sold on at a higher price?
Why doesn't rugby benefit rather than the touts?

Imagine the public uproar if the IRB were selling tickets at 9,000 GBP per ticket.

Re: 9,000 for a ticket
True, but better than £300 and nobody is actually able to get any at that price anyway, but that's all the IRB get.fa0019 wrote:Scottrf wrote:Why price tickets so cheaply if you will allow them to be sold on at a higher price?

I'm not saying price them at the top end of what people will pay but surely the bulk of tickets should be closer.

I got mine for £150 each? I guess it just pays to be part of a rugby club or get in early?

Re: 9,000 for a ticket
I guess so, but my mate is part of a rugby club and has paid £1,500 to some sort of reseller. Clearly he wasn't confident.

Re: 9,000 for a ticket
I wonder how many tickets for the final are available for the general public once the union members, various club secretaries, foreign dignitaries, foreign dignitaries wives, foreign dignitaries wives tennis partners etc have been comped?

Re: 9,000 for a ticket
If some one is willing to pay £9000 per ticket to go and see a rugby game. They must be nuts.
I could not afford that type of money, but even if i could i would want a lot more for my money than just a seat in the top tier of the stands.
I would expect at leaast too be driven in a chaufer limo car for one.
and 2 i would be expecting to be treated like royalty. with all the perks that go with being royalty.

Is there any evidence of them selling at £9k, or are they just priced at that?

There does seem to be a market for tickets at those prices – scary really. I told a mate I’d secured seats to the final and he told me if NZ don’t make the final I would be able to sell them quite easily through his work contacts in London for about £2000 a piece.

This was on watchdog yesterday, apparently they have been taken down now as nobody has been sold tickets (as of yesterday)

Anything short of the starting 10 jersey for that price would be a rip off

How do you know these aren't via IRB allocation?
