Rio de Janiero - 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread
First topic message reminder :
This **should** be the main article for the Fifa World Cup 2014 competition that happens in 10 days time. Lets try and keep the debate simple yet reasonable about all of the build-up, the stadiums, the countries, the players, the qualifying, the winners and most importantly, the "bought" 2022 World Cup.
Enjoy! (And... lets try and make this World Cup as good as possible considering all of the poor build-up, tragic deaths and he outrageous violence that has been happening over recent months)

I didn't get banned for breaking any house rules genuinely speaking, but whatever as they don't want me here anymore i agree the decision and move on, this account is created to inform I would't be able to reply any more coz I got banned, I won't be posting with this so I have no fear of creating this one and genuinely declaring it as mine.
Yes I am brave, but this scenario is just too easy.

I had £100 on England on Saturday - damn and blast!
Hey ho, I had a safe £300 on France yesterday, and a reasonably comfortable £250 on ze Germans.

Has Alan Hansen already retired from punditry? I thought he was doing the World Cup as well, but I haven't seen him yet.
I'd never thought I would miss Hansen, but when Rio is the replacement...

But Neville got five hundred complaints to the BBC, for having NO emotion and being monotone. Thought it would have been a lot more.
But Auntie Beeb said "he is a valued member of our team and shall continue"

Dear BBC,
I'd rather like to be a commentator on your Match of the Day lark. I combine over-the-top patriotism with casual xenophobia - a perfect mix with plenty of emotion.
Expect the complaints to rise fourfold!

Is there anyway to turn off savage?
Giving Dempsey a hard time because he didn't sing the anthem, what a tool Robbie is, not fit to lace the boots of Dempsey or comment on a World Cup game, how many world cups have you been to Robbie?
Take a look at the 2nd picture in the article. Lol

On Savage, I can tell you as a Welsh fan he NEVER sung the nationaly anthem, he used to turn sideways and close his eyes and listen. What a hypocrite.

At the 1950 World Cup in Brazil, the United States defeated England 1–0. So fair point.

Meh USA were pretty lucky Ghana had the end product of Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, can't imagine Ronaldo will let them off the hook so easy
Altidore looks like he could be a big loss if they're gonna defend and look to nick something. Can't get up the pitch nearly as well with that Johansson bloke
Ghana were awful, defending non existent
Germany will Muller (ya get it ) these two

Re: Rio de Janiero - 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread
My two teams did allright last night. USA getting some payback against the Ghanians. I think a confident USA side can get a result against Portugal. Portugal are just not as good as everyone seems to think. Ronaldo has never really impressed me on their national team side and their defense looks absolutely attrocious. They are one man team and if the USA can contain Ronaldo defensively and get some good crosses in the box and deliveries on set pieces they should be able to score.
Iran pulled out a draw, really was the better side from the opening 10 minutes on. They are not as bad a side as this match reflects. They probably won't make it out of the group but can play much better than this. One thing that reflects well is that the Iranian back line and defensive midfield was pretty much untroubled for the vast majority of the match and broke up Nigeria's play. Nigeria's passing was pretty awful though and helped them in their defend and counter set up. Iran's goal keeper is still like always a disaster waiting to happen. Reza Goochanejad looks a lively striker and probably should have scored on that header off the corner.

Not really, they have had a good following for sometime now, even at non WC games.
They need to start with Wondalowski next match.
That Johansson looked bush.
They are capable of getting a result against Portugal, but think Portugal will nick it 2-1.
I hope not though.
While we're on this group.
Muellar should be banned for the next 2 games.
That was just disgraceful what he did yesterday.
Just pathetic. Main reason I dont watch to much football these days. To much of that carry on.
Portugal defender should have gone into the German dressing room and knocked that c*nt the fk out.
