I think based on his form at Liverpool 20m is a great price for him.

I think £20m is great!

Not really a big fan of Lovren, he was the only one of the Saints players that left that I thought was not worth the value paid for him

No one can persuade me that Luke Shaw is worth £28m. He's a good player and should replace Baines as England LB sooner rather than later.

But he is not worth £28m.

It's obvious Shaw was bought for the future and there is no guarantee that he will become the player we hope. Shaw should be ahead of Baines right now, no offence to Baines but at best he is an Everton level player and no way worth the £20m you lot wanted for him. Wasn't Baines supposed to join Bayern?

I'm not sure Shaw will still be at United come the end of the season. He looked out of his depth a bit at the weekend before he went off.

Baines is not worth £20m no, I completely agree. He is worth less than that to other teams, but more than that to Everton, so as long as he wants to stay, he is unlikely to move. Bayern made an approach for him and the club turned it down.

Baines plus cash = Shaw will happen in the summer IMO.

I think you're being harsh and slightly overreacting, he wasn't great but he wasn't as bad as you made him out to be. He will be at United definitely next season and this season. He has a lot of time to grow into the player he is predicted to become. 

I think you're telling fibs about Baines and Bayern.

He'll be at United for a few seasons.

Probably overpriced, but everyone will be for United, and Southampton werent desperate for cash

In what world is this? We've spent £30m on the boy so unless Everton pay us £30m plus Baines I can't see it happening. I'd rather us have no left back then to pay so much for an overated scouser. If we make champions League for next season Baines would be hugely out if his depth.

I'm not just basing it on one game.

I think he had one good season and United hugely overpaid for him.

No fibs about Baines. What is funny about Baines is that he was the best LB in the league until suddenly United were buying Shaw and then Shaw became the best and Baines became over rated.

Baines is very important to us and I still think he is the best LB for England. Doesn't mean he is a world beater or worth £20m+

That World Cup he played relatively well in wouldn't count for experience then? Also Baines will deliver for two seasons at least, Shaw wont because he's a long term project. Which interests Louis Van Gaal more? Short term or long term?

Baines > Shaw 

I'd say the standard in the CL is higher, I don't think he played well in the world cup (lacked protection from winger) but he didn't look like the player I expected him to be. Even if LVG wanted him gone I don't think the Glazers would allow a £30m to be sold less than a season.
