French Open discussion thread
First topic message reminder :
Yep, it'll be all guns blazing I imagine. Going after every return he can and trying to end points quickly. It'll be fun to watch, but if you offered me a 4 set defeat for Muzza now I'd bite your hand off.
Born Slippy wrote:Murray is surely going to go all out attack in the SF. I can't see him beating Nadal who is starting to look close to his peak form. However, if he can give him a tough match that will be very encouraging for Wimbledon.

Never easy...kudos to Novak for keeping his resolve. I'm sure Nadal will steady himself and look to break back with some extra aggressive tennis

What drama - cannot believe Nole won the point that gave him the double break point. Can he claw his way back in somehow?

I hope he can do it, but the way Nadal is playing I just can't see it.

Two reasons, most likely..
1) Nole has lost the last two RG matches vs Nadal serving to stay in the match.
2) He's been broken twice today serving to stay in the set.

Re: French Open discussion thread
Well it sucks to lose it by double fault but Nadal really deserves. Best clay courter ever. The crowd was really ridiculous to get involved on that match point on second serve. Nadal was the better player today and maybe the greatest ever.

Re: French Open discussion thread
And Rafa does it yet again. Congrats, he was the better player today so well deserved.
I think he should have two major goals for the rest of his career: catch up Fed in the slam count and get to double digits here.

Nadal the GOAT after Fed, but that is looking not so sure.
Well done to Rafa. I will credit Djoko for getting to finals.

What is it now? 66-1 in Paris, 90-1 in clay five setters. Tennis' equivalent of Bradman's 99.94, or Chamberlain's ridiculous NBA stats - I just don't think they are getting equalled, on clay, or any surface really

Re: French Open discussion thread
Congratulations Rafael Nadal. Perhaps the greatest of all time.
I didn't think he had it in him but final three matches vs Ferrer, Murray and Djokovic where vintage Nadal.
Hard luck Novak Djokovic. It seems like he might need a Robin Soderling to take Nadal out to finally bag Roland Garros.

Congrats to Nadal (and his fans)! Historical achievement. (King of Clay )
Djokovic's career slam dream is still alive. RG 2015. Does he want it bad enough?

Good stuff. Not a vintage match but some excellent points as usual. Well done to Nadal, for Novak the wait goes on, but I think he'll get there in the end. There will be other opportunities, but for now it's back to the drawing board and prepare for the grass.
Work still to do for Rafa to attain GOAT status, but this helps!
PS: double-fault on match point? Prepare for the HM rage (just kidding mate)

Well done Rafa. Not bad on clay. Not bad at all.
Unlucky Novak. He shouldn't have let that fan calling out upset him at the end of the second set. That was a turning point.
I still think he'll do it one year.
