Tonights Action *Spoilers*
Boxnations coverage is just about to start in Newcastle, David Price fought earlier and went ten rounds winning a unanimous decision, hopefully that'll give him some confidence regarding his stamina.

Bloody hell who did he fight?? Some guy with a granite chin? Nice to hear him putting in the rounds and gaining confidence. Just think he may be too old to reach the pinnacle and will end up falling short at world level again. Hope I'm wrong.
Who is on the UK card Hampo??
Just logged into my online live sport boxnation account which is working great on my new shiny phone. Roll on Cotto vs Martinez!!

Butler won by MD. 117 112 115 113 113 115
I thought it was a draw actually . Butler started well but Hall (who looked way bigger) came on strong late.
I'd like to see a rematch but McDonnell beats both them like a drum.

Anyone see Eubank Sr. in Eubank Jrs. corner? One of the most bizzare moments in boxing. Although I appreciate his skills, do feel his approach is unprofessional and will get found out vs. better fighters....
Having said that, it is entertaining.

Nah, he got bundled to the floor but not knocked down. Butler will likely move backdown in weight, impressive tonight but the size difference was scary.

It's worth watching the Eubank Jr. fight just to see how Eubank sr. was standing in the ring just staring and not saying a word. Comical stuff.

Andy Lee's KO of Julian Jackson's son would do Julian Jackson proud. Hurt, backed up to the ropes and BANG

Anyone see the KO from Andy Lee!? Wow what a punch, needed him to win, on my accumulator, was going mental as to how easy eh was to hit and the fact he was heavily put down in the first round and being banged around the ring then BANG, one right hook and the fight was over, great KO.
Anyone know what the Ponce De Leon result was? Can't find it anywhere online, really annoying me... the other fight on my accumulator but don't know who won it yet!!!

Cotto Martinez is not even close, you got 1 guy turning up for payday and you got other guy 'Martinez' who is stronger, slicker and quicker. If Trout had sucess at lower weight imagine what a much much better boxer in Martinez will do! I see a mid to late stoppage between rounds 6-8 for Maravilaa.

Jeez how good has this been so far?!
Lee's come from behind KO.
Then Melendez and Maciel just LAYING it out on the line, both guys hurt several times, shows how much Brian Rose has improved because Maciel was a very good win from the looks of things. Hope Rose does well next week.

Good choice pulling him out, sergio had nothing and was never going to win
Needs to retire now. No power, no snap, no punch resistance, he's just gone
Congrats to cotto but wouldnt fancy his chances against GGG, would love to see him against Canelo though
Can see floyd looking a cotto now to get a mddleweight title

Didn't get to see the fight but I'm sorry that Martinez lost. I read that Cotto's camp had negotiated for Martinez to weigh no more than 159lbs, so I wanted Cotto to lose.

Wow. Never seen Cotto look as powerful, as spiteful, as focused....ever.
Martinez may be on the slide but I still expected him to take cotto out.
Glad I was proved wrong because cotto to me looks like a real force at MW!!
Fantastic victory, one in which I won't discredit by slating the opposition (who is ranked I'm the top ten p4p in many eyes)......night ffolks, what a performance by cotto.

Re: Tonights Action *Spoilers*
Well I owe Cotto a massive apology as I wrote him off from the start and he is now THE middleweight champion. I hope he has the integrity to give GGG a shot as he is still the most deserving middleweight. Doubt it will happen though, Cotto makes too much money and would be destroyed.
Cotto has always been a focused, remorseless pressure boxer and looked as dangerous as ever tonight with Roach in his corner. Perhaps too dangerous if he's looking for another Mayweather payday.

Re: Tonights Action *Spoilers*
Can't see Cotto going nywhere near GGG and I don't blame him
He looked good tonight, but GGG won't worry about cottos power and definitely wont let cotto walk him down, instead ggg will stalk cotto and ground him down
Cotto's footwork, skill an handspeed will keep in it for the first bit but once leather starts landing he will slow and gg can really urt him
Nah i'd like to see Canelo-Cotto should canelo get past lara which he might not do

Re: Tonights Action *Spoilers*
Nonsense JBW. The only credit Cotto gets for winning that belt is the fact he made weight and was able to contest for it .
That fight should have been stopped after the first 30 seconds. It was brutally clear as soon as Martinez began that his legs were completely gone. Even the shots that put him over weren't even that hard, his legs just wobbled all over the place and he went down. When Cotto moved to the side Martinez couldn't even turn his feet to turn his body...instead he had to walk in a circle keeping his feet almost straight. He couldn't get any power on his shots due to being unable to set his feet correctly. This fight was a joke. Now Cotto holds a belt and that's great but ANY ONE of the last 10 opponents Martinez has beat would have avenged their loss last night. So Cotto hasn't surprised at all and the catch weight is the cherry on the cake.
GGG is the man at middle. Golovkins win over Macklin ranks above Cottos win against a champion who will now prob end up not being able to walk properly as he gets older and should NEVER have been allowed in a boxing ring in that condition.
Reading people claiming Cotto is back to his best. Based on that fight!!??? When he fights a young and fit fighter like Trout again then the real Cotto will show again. Beating limited Rodrigez and a crippled Martinez isn't telling much.
Said before it was all based on how the knee would fair in this fight but dear god I never expected it to have been that bad. This was worse than Manny vs Oscar

Pretty sad to see Martinez in that condition. Im glad he wasnt put anywhere near Golovkin, it would have been a massacre. Take the pay day and ride off into the sun.
Does anybody know what the odds were for Martinez not making the final bell?

Re: Tonights Action *Spoilers*
Imagine if Alvarez or Mayweather had of beaten last nights Martinez . Cyberspace would have went into meltdown. But Cotto will always get sympathy because of the Margarito beating.
Re: Tonights Action *Spoilers*
This was sad to watch as a fan of Martinez, congrats to Cotto for refusing to fight Sergio for four years, even when he was a light middleweight, and Martinez was willing to come down, and and then for waiting till the Murray fight, and two knee surgeries to gather up the courage. Still, he obviously came with a plan, so yay Cotto.
Sad to see Martinez off like this, hopefully he retires, as his legs are quite clearly finished, and I think he's made enough money to live comfortably. Thanks for the memories, Maravilla. Sadly, you chase the money long enough, you will have a defeat on your ledger which has no place there. Got $5m, most likely at favourable tax rates, for Murray, so he should have called it a day then. Like Eminem once said, "It's sad but it happens to all of them"
