You beat me to it, Corporal. Unless Gloucs can somehow pull off a draw (even the pessimist in me won't say a win!), they're heading for nil points from this match.

Re: Surrey vs Gloucestershire LV=County Championship
Burns out for 199 But a superb performance
And well done to Solanki for a century, and at a fairly rapid pace as well.
When was last time Surrey had two double century partnerships in one innings I wonder?
Lead is 327 - but still over two days to go. I expect we would look to throw the bat and perhaps declare after scoring another 100 runs or so.

Both Ansari and Burns did incredibly well but will be so disappointed.
Maybe let Davies and perhaps Roy have a blast after tea before the declaration. I'm very keen to stick Gloucs back in tonight when they should be tired and demoralised.

Davies goes for 9. With lead already at 349 a good situation for Roy to enjoy himself.

Jason Roy 102* off 55 deliveries. Only his second cc century. Only needs another 5 to reach his highest first class score. Lost ball after the last boundary.

This is unbelievably good isn't it? I guess that delay stopped us putting them in tonight as we wanted to give Roy his hundred. So pleased for them all.

Re: Surrey vs Gloucestershire LV=County Championship
Another great day for Surrey. I'm especially pleased for Vikram Solanki after all his troubles.
I have a feeling Surrey may have to be patient tomorrow and maybe Batty will be a key figure as I wouldn't expect Gloucs to collapse quite so badly again. They must be pretty demoralised though.
Sorry to throw in an uninteresting statistic but with reference to my earlier post about Richard Clinton he did only score that one century for Surrey and it was his only Championship ton. He did score a hundred for Essex against Cambridge University and his other two first class centuries were both for Loughborough.

Wow! What a scorecard! Just a pity Zaf/Third Degree couldn't complete their ton/double ton.
With the weather set fair, it leaves us 2 days to finish Gloucs off, and as Beehive says, I think patience is the order of the day

Re: Surrey vs Gloucestershire LV=County Championship
Completely at one with the comments above. I strongly second Beehive's comment about Vik Solanki.
Also very pleased for Jason Roy. I've always maintained he has massive talent but it's too often been let down by impatience. Alec Stewart has commented on him bringing greater maturity to his game this season. That's been demonstrated in a couple of responsible innings recently and it was more than fair that he got the chance to completely shine yesterday.
Having not declared last night (mainly, I suspect, because of the fear of bad light bringing an early stumps), I would now be tempted to bat another ten or fifteen minutes this morning. Mainly, just to keep Gloucs out there and hopefully unsettle them further by keeping them wondering. Also, in particular, if you declare from the overnight score you have to give fifteen minutes' notice but there's only a ten minute break during play. Just that little bit less less time for Klinger and Housego (the latter on a pair in his first CC match this year) to prepare. May be well wide of the mark but just a thought ....

Re: Surrey vs Gloucestershire LV=County Championship
Gloucs and Klinger doing their best to frustrate us. 199/3 at tea. A century for their skipper.
Ah well, keep calm and keep plugging away. A couple more wickets before stumps and we can be satisfied with the day's work. However, if we draw a blank in the final session, won't be so easy to get a good night's kip ....

Re: Surrey vs Gloucestershire LV=County Championship
274 - 5 Much harder fought today, as would have been expected. 5 wickets for the day is a probably a par kind of haul, assuming it is still an excellent batting strip. Interesting that Roy took another wicket.

Re: Surrey vs Gloucestershire LV=County Championship
Not great but should be good enough. A lot of credit to Gloucs and Klinger for sticking at it and not folding.
Could do with Tremlett standing up and coming early to the party tomorrow.

Re: Surrey vs Gloucestershire LV=County Championship
It's looking suspiciously like a draw now although if one brings two quickly after lunch there's still hope. To be fair to our bowlers the wicket is clearly a road and it was a good toss to lose.

Re: Surrey vs Gloucestershire LV=County Championship
I would still say that at the moment a Surrey win is more likely than the draw. However, that will start to change with every over that goes by.
I remain hopeful that one wicket will lead to another and then the tail. I would feel better though if they didn't have a batsman as good as Benny Howell as low down as 9. Anyway, we have to put the morning out of our minds and look upon it as still having two full sessions to take the final 5 wickets.

We have two former England 'pace' men but can't take a single blooming wicket. Tremlett and Dernbach should hang their heads in shame.

I couldn't understand Churchy and Bob Hunt (whom I've taken a considerable dislike to - too full of himself and lacking any trace of humour) about how many overs are left after tea.
Isn't it now however many overs are bowled between 4 and 5 o'clock plus a minimum of 16 overs in the last hour? Grateful if anyone can explain / clarify.
Anyway, well done to Clive. It's the hope that gets you ....

Disappointing but sometimes the wicket wins. At least the young batsmen can take confidence from the game.

Beehive's right but still feel so disappointed. Just hope we can take the pluses here to Derbys for the CC match starting on Sunday.

Most disappointing day, but I suppose it's telling comment on the pitch that five batsmen hit their highest first class score during the match.
