First topic message reminder :
Tbf this isn't the same Costa that's been playing for Atletico, a long hard season and a few injuries catching up with him here I thinkowen10ozzy wrote:Diego Costa for £32 million isn't looking to hot either...Chelsea could be looking at the 3 most expensive striker flops in history in Shevchenko, Torres and now Costa.
He lacks pace and mobility which for me are essential in the premiership.

They've been through it before, If they didn't they would have sold him in the summer The difference is they won't have to fork out 70m+ on an unreliable player not many clubs are going to want to do that but that being said Madrid have Pepe & RamosChampagne_Socialist wrote:Fernando wrote:Are you going to pay 70m+ for a player that gets banned for 12-15 games a season? But then you could say that teams do want him because Arsenal bidded £40 mil even when he would miss the first 6 games and Barcelona/madrid have declared an interest in him knowing he gets banned a lot

6 games you can live with really, Being that it's his 3rd time he's going to get a really long ban id expect potentially one that will apply after the WC too. 70m+ for someone like that despite his talent isn't wise you could go get anyone really for less and be better off.Champagne_Socialist wrote:Fernando wrote:They've been through it before, If they didn't they would have sold him in the summerChampagne_Socialist wrote:Fernando wrote:Are you going to pay 70m+ for a player that gets banned for 12-15 games a season? I enjoy the Fifa rules on incidents off the ball.
If the referee hasn't taken action then they presume that he has missed the incident
Premier League could learn from that.

any ban would only apply to international games so would actually benefit his club

Pathetic to see the Uruguayan skipper and manager rallying around Suarez; they, like Liverpool, really have no pride in themselves or their team.
At the very least, Suarez should be banned from the rest of the World Cup.

Fifa can and should apply a blanket ban, just because it happened in an international doesn't mean it won't affect his club career too, my understanding thus far is that a 2 month ban is quite likely which is frankly pathetic.

Ban Suarez for life. Its the only way to sort this problem
Number of footballers bitten by other footballers (not including Suarez) = 0
Number of footballer bitten by Suarez = 3
Its a joke. Liverpool should fire him, wouldnt want him associated with the club if I was them. But then again they stuck with him the last time.

never heard of that before do you have a link or anything that says that a player can be bnned in their domestic league for things that happen on international duty?

People wishing death upon Suarez and for him to be "put down" on this site are also pathetic. I dont condone what Suarez has done for a second and agree he should get banned for as long as possible but some people also appear to lose their heads just as easily as Suarez...

problem is that Suarez makes millions for FIFA and the English FA that if they ban him for life they will lose out on a lot of money.

Well unless the rules have changed since 1995 then Cantona would be a good example of a worldwide ban, he was banned from all forms of football for 9 months as was Ferdinand in 2004.

I would say Suarez needs his head examined at the very least.
Sane people do not bite other players, particularly with such force that your own tooth becomes dislodged. He is clearly a danger to himself and others on the pitch.

If he's not banned, you can most likely enjoy Suarez`s gnashers in action next season on Sky Sports 5, the new home of La Liga. Truly disgusting behavior, time is definitely up on his career in England you imagine. Media will go to town on him now.

But that was the FA who banned him and the FA are in charge of the EPl and the English National team.
As far as I am aware FIFA have no control over the EPL.

Ferdinand was banned for missing drugs tests which isn't really the same thing... Cantona is a decent example though, certainly FIFA can impose a blanket ban on Suarez I would have thought. The guy has serious issues, also was funny that after biting Chiellini his response was to roll around on the floor as if Chiellini had elbowed him or something. Uruguay really have been rather pathetic with all their play-acting in this tournament so far...

Would Fifa also potentially be able to kick Uraguay out of the competition? Reinstate Italy potentially?

Lets be sensible here, that would not happen. Yes he bit the guy but there have been examples of players punching other players at WC and FIFA did nothing.

As far as i'm aware FIFA have ultimate control over each and every football association there is but hey their members must hold more power than them then if the mighty Chris_Dior says so.

Another off the ball incident in the Columbia/Japan game. Balanta elbowed a Japanese player on the nose. Not spotted by the ref, should have been a red card.

Don't worry, Colombia should have little problem against Uruguay in the last sixteen, particularly with no Suarez.
