First topic message reminder :
Tbf this isn't the same Costa that's been playing for Atletico, a long hard season and a few injuries catching up with him here I thinkowen10ozzy wrote:Diego Costa for £32 million isn't looking to hot either...Chelsea could be looking at the 3 most expensive striker flops in history in Shevchenko, Torres and now Costa.
He lacks pace and mobility which for me are essential in the premiership.

I doubt hes worried about the fine
The fine is pointless, Suarez won't even notice.

I don't see why its unjust. 3rd offense, hasn't shown any signs of improvement in his behaviour.
I'd have banned him until Jan tbh

The fine is pointless, although I do find it funny that FIFA fine so low.
The ban? Well, I think its enough. Missing the rest of the World Cup is pretty big for him personally, and two and a half months of PL football, including any training time at his club. He's gonna have to do a rushed pre-season. Probably mid-November comeback?

The punishment is an accurate reflection of the crime committed. Calls for a year long ban or 2 year ban are unjust and the punishment would not fit the crime.
Yes it would for a repeat offender.
Liverpool should sack him and tell him to feck off.

Tbh I'd be surprised if Suarez doesn't try to move abroad anyway. His relations with the English press don't seem positive.

BTW.... people probably think FIFA will have been wishing this incident away.....hmmmm, it's an absolute classic that the boardroom boys were probably doing jigs to and getting drunk on. They couldn't have asked for a better way to promote the product across the world. Blatter loved it....especially the 'little us and the big them' sub-plot.

Lets be honest here he is a repeat offender of a 'minor' crime (minor in the sense of damage caused). yes biting is a horrible crime but there are players who have headbutted other players which is far worse and got far less punishments.
4 month ban and a 9 match international ban fits the crime.

I'd have given Suarez a total ban until he's cleared to play by a panel of psychologists after evaluating his mental health.
His mental health, and clarity of mind, is far more important than what he actually did.

3rd offence of a minor crime.
If we are giving peole 7 months bans for 3rd offences then all those jumping 2 footed tackles that players have committed 3 times need to be banned for 7 months and all those players who headbutt need to be banned for 7 months and all those players who elbow need to be banned for 7 months.
What suarez did was wrong and a 4 month ban is a suitabe punishment but fernando torres face scratch on vertongen was far worse or other players who elbow etc etc

I know biting is pathetic, but it really is just an aggressive act. Sportsman gets overly aggressive during competitive sport is barely a mental health issue.

An aggressive act the vast majority of sportsmen feel no need to do once, let alone repeatedly. Theres something wrong with Luis

It's kinda scary.
Maybe the UN Security Council should keep a serious eye on developments because what I've learned from this incident is that Suarez ain't alone!!!!
Seems there are a lot of vampire zombies out there that aren't all movie extras either. Seems they are a real breed who have become a little too excited by all this teeth and blood chat. "Biting ain't no big thing... it's juicy and sweet, my precious, and praps more people should try it before knocking it."

Well Rooney has elbowed players should he be setioned as well?
Pepe headbutted a player should he be banned until his mental health is cleared?

But he's done it three times now, despite being punished twice before.
It's not a usual act for a footballer, either, far from it.

Uruguay have three days to appeal, according to the BBC.
The ban will cover the first nine Premier League games as well, and a chunk of the Champions League group stages.

Elbowing is something that happens. Rooney elbows someone, he gets a ban, we call him a tw@ and we move on. van Persie elbows someone (which he does often), same thing. The first thing people do in a moment of aggression is go in with their hands, elbows, feet or even head but never mouth.

we are talking about the damage suarez caused to chiellini not the damage someone with HIV could cause to a random person. If Suarez bit chiellin on the street and the same amount of damage was caused Suarez would in most cases face less of a punishment then if he headbutted chiellini in the street.

Well not everyone because jermain defore and suarez have bitten people instead of elbowing. Everyone is different and the fact you seem to minimise the damage of an elbow highlights your biased views.
John Terry out of aggression was racist on the pitch to another player, he also kneed another player in the back. Should he be banned for 2 years or until he passes a mental health check?
Wayne rooney has elbowed players countless times in the back, he stamped on a players genitals, he has kicked players on purpose, where are the calls for him to be sectioned?

You think? Or you know?
Plus - you know what Suarez has and what he hasn't in terms of pass-onable conditions? You know his medical history? The intent of a bite is as serious as the intent of a head butt (just ask Tyson when he bit off and ear and spat it out). The jury would decide how severe the incident and the judge would determine the sentence.

Fifa making up rules as they go along, but to judge by what they've just told me, only #URU (not #LFC) would be allowed to appeal Suarez ban
And he would be allowed to transfer clubs, apparently, despite the ban seemingly covering "all football activity".

almost half the ban is in the off season

Biting would fall under ABH whilst headbutting would fall under GBH. GBH is more serious.

Would rather get a broken nose/cheekbone from elbows than HIV from a bite. (You can ban Terry for as long as you want, I don't care)

Like I said on that thread, Time for people to stand up against FIFA bullying of talented players and their talents. We must start a campaign to unburden Suarez of this miscarriage of justice. Save Suarez's Canines is my kickstart campaign. Small fee to join... Quatarians most welcome to invest.

To be honest I am not sure what your views are.
My opinion is that the bite was wrong of course but the bite he gave to chiellini was not as bad as some elbows or headbutts that I have witnessed or some very dangerous 2 footed jumping tackles that were aimed at hitting the player.
A 4 month ban is sufficient as it is the 3rd time he has committed the same offence and it is an off the ball offence.

I think a bite can be instinct. All you have to do is have had that action as natural as a child and never got past it.

He knew what he was doing, hence why he has done it before and will do it again.

Just like JohN Terry knew what hwhen he kneed Sanchez in the back or Rooney knew what he was doing when he stamped on a players genitals etc etc
Everyone reacts differently.
Your argument has no standing. First you claimed a bite was worse when in fact a headbutt is worse under the law and you are trying to claim that elbows and headbutts and stamps and punches are not as bad as a bite because you claim that they are done in the heat of the moment when a bite is not, clearly everyone acts differently and clearly suarez bit the guy in the heat of the moment.
