Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
First topic message reminder :
Not had that much fun watching football for a while.
Robben taken the p*1ss out the spanish keeper and central defenders was literally hilarious.

A dentist would be more appropriate.
Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has been suspended from all football-related activity for four months for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini. Fifa's independent disciplinary committee imposed the ban after finding the 27-year-old guilty of misconduct. Suarez has also been banned for nine international matches, ruling him out of the rest of the World Cup.

So is that 9 club games plus 9 international games?
How does the 4 months fit in?
Confusing

Actually re reading Bob's post, it's less confusing! 4 months for club and 9 games for country basically?

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Yes - 4 months from today for any football related stuff (including playing).. so out of the Premier League until near the end of October, AND banned for 9 internationals - which might in effect be 2 months or 2 years (I've no idea about Uruguay's schedule but obviously the longer they stay in the world cup the more of those 9 matches will be "spent". If they played 12 internationals in the next 4 months he'd actually miss 12 internationals as the " 4 month" stipulation would still be in effect.)

I am not sure what the ban from football activites entails. Is that he cannot be sold, can he train. He cannot go into a stadium. Is it like when Aamer got his match fixing ban in cricket and he could not roll out for even a sunday village team.

From now by the looks of it
Just read this means he will have been banned for 39 matches since 2010 without having received a single red card!
Bite 1: 7 matches
Bite 2: 10 matches
Bite 3: 9 internationals and 13 club (9 league, 1 league cup and 3 champions league)
Impressive

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Apparently the 4 month ban covers ALL football related activity - including a world wide stadium ban. There is a suggestion it even bars him from any administrative capabilities which would mean even transfer talks would need to be put on hold
I'm guessing it also includes things like squad training (though what he chooses to do in his own home is obviously up to him)

Uruguyan dry-aged beef is so last year. Prosciutto crudo a la Chiellini is the new thing. The only thing Suaraz is biting now is the dust though...

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Do you think there are any other young left backs still playing in the World Cup you could get for less than 27 million? If France win the World Cup will Shaw keep Evra out? That's the funny thing, Baines had been twice as good as Evra this year, slip a national shirt on and they swap form.
Or indeed any midfielders who didn't make their countries squad you could pick up for under 30 million? To be fair Man Utd desperately need strength in midfield.
Wonder how much say LVG has in these signings, you'd imagine quite a bit but who knows these days.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Don't understand the transfer mentality these days, most especially Man City warehousing right backs what with Zabaletta, Sagna and Richards (remember him?).
Liverpool almost win the Prem so they pick up Lambert (why?) and Lallana (and who will he replece) not to mention the usual foreign legion extras.
Can see Glen Johnson getting dumped but what about Coutinho?
And: What would you prefer if you were a Saints fan? 55 mil (or something like that) or Shaw, Lallana and Lambert. Then there's Lovren and Schneiderlin looking to make their escape.
They're mad I tell you!

Zabaleta is an excellent right back which means there's only one reason for Sagna to choose to go to City.....

So who do you reckon forced Suarez to come clean?
And in other news the Algerian team are observing Ramadan, which means a dawn to dusk fast since sunday. Presumably they stuff themselves at night. They certainly look quite hungry against the Germans.

Anyone who employed saville should be in the dock as well
While we are on the subject Andy Coulson millions on the trial and he will do 4 1/2 months in prison assuming he is a good boy.The prison sentence is irrelevant the sanction should be against the press who were involved.Coulson and a few other staff take the rap and everyone else wanders away into the sunset. Are we seriously suggesting Brooks and others never asked 'where did this come from'
I may have the miseries cos just recieved £245 fine and 3 points for 36 in a 30 limit whilst attending a serious situation.

Pretty bad refereeing in the Brazil/Colombia match, 40 fouls before a card was produced. Hope Brazil get dispatched by zee Germans in the semi, they don't deserve to win the tournament!!

Am I missing something? Just seen a headline (admittedly from a few days ago) saying "£60m rated mini-Messi completes move"....and yet he's gone for £3m. Is the headline just the usual over-hyped tabloid gash or are Dundee United's director's just completely and utterly inept?....and then people wonder why Scottish football is in such a dire financial predicament.

Typical tabloid hyperbole JAS, he's not "rated" at 60m, his release clause at Sporting Lisbon is now 60m. Rather poor journalism to claim that's what he's worth.

People often bemoan spectators at golf events who wear golf shoes. That's nothing compared to the number of mamil I've just seen watching the TdF. Some even had the clip-on shoes on ffs.

I suspected as much although I also think your average Managers/Directors of Scottish clubs haven't a clue of how to properly market their prize assets (probably because they don't get much practice at it!!). If he'd come from a middle or lower ranking premiership club (or even championship) Sporting would have had to fork out a lot more for him.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Yeah, but he plays in Scotland, one of the worst leagues in Europe.
To be fair 3m is a lot of money for a kid of 18 who has only made 32 starts and only half a season where all his hype came from.
Good business for a team like United.
Better to move to Lisbon then die on the Celtic bench.

Good move for the young Scottish kid, Portugal produces so many good players, not all Portuguese though. Its a great finishing school. If all decent youngster believe there is more to life then Britain, players will get better.
the TdF is really good, ive only picked up on it last few years, but it is very tactical at times, and not just a big group of people cycling in the countryside.
