I’m still not on board with the Bony hype to be honest. One season does not make him a real deal. See Cisse, Jelavic, Michael Ricketts before him.

If he carries on next season as he did last, then I will come around (unless he signs for Liverpool), but for now I’m still on the fence.

In fairness to me, it was when Falcao was at Atletico I wasn't convinced. He scored tons of goals against bottom half La Liga teams and disappeared in the harder games. I remember posting something that basically showed that by Jan/Feb time, he had scored something like 20 goals, but exactly 0 of them had been against teams in the top half of the table. However, not long after that he upped his game including destroying Chelsea.

Also to be fair to me, players do get better. Just because they are good now, doesn't mean they were good two years ago. It would be like considering Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world when he had just joined United, rather than the showboater with no end product that he actually was at that time.

Andy Johnson scored a ton of penalties one season. He got capped for England as a result. Liverpool would be mad to pay too much.

We signed Andy Johnson after that one season of penalties for Palace. He was great for half a season and then went down hill rapidly.

He was part of the reason that Moyes got the reputation as being able to ruin perfectly good strikers by asking them to do more work outside of the penalty area.

Him. And Beattie. And Jelavic. And Yakubu.

He was a decent player, Johnson. Worked hard, good pace, decent finisher. The goals just seemed to dry up for him.
