Seems to be Fulham, McCormack hasn't travelled with the Leeds squad to Italy so maybe something in it

Doubt we'd be spending 10m on a striker considering we've already signed two and haven't actually lost any yet

He plays for Leeds. Sounds like a really "Norwich" move to me.

why not? he's also been allegedly monitored by Liverpool and was linked with Valencia before the worldcup. He should look for a nice transfer bonus now that there is some hype surrounding him and will probably leave Marseilles for 12-15 M€ but think he will fit better in la liga than in the PL.

He's been France's best player, he won't be rocking up in East London scheming behind Andy Carroll

Bournemouth FC set to land £5.75m-£6.25m from the Lallana deal. They put a 25% sell on fee clause on his contract when he was 12 years old.

This Vidal move is getting ridiculous. Juventus demands keep increasing. Now want a fee around £48m

Why did Manchester United declare they had a £200m transfer budget? Every club knows they can hold them to ransom...

He's a good player but not worth anywhere near £45m+. I'd wait for Strootman at £30m + he's only 24, whereas by the time United are possibly back in the Champions League, Vidal will be 28/29.

I agree about Strootman but I think United really need 3 new midfielders. Herrera plus Strootman(January) and one of Vidal, Pogba or Carvalho.

The current midfielders are pretty dreadful. Carrick cleverley Anderson etc.

We won't be buying more than one extra midfielder I wouldn't have thought but much as always depends on who leaves; Carrick is the only one worth keeping and possibly Fletcher as a squad player but Cleverley and Anderson both need moving on.

The Carvalho rumours seem to be gathering pace again but young Portuguese midfielders don't have a good track record when it comes to fulfilling their potential, was a time when Veloso was the next big thing and his career stalled big time.

Vidal would be the perfect fit for our midfield but the price seems to change up and down on a daily basis depending on what paper you're reading at the time, yesterday it was €38mil.

Who do you think will be leaving Hero?

It looks like a balancing act between getting rid of the players we don't need but also keeping the squad at a reasonable size, can we really afford to let both Young and Nani leave for instance?

I'd believe it if they said they'd accept £20 million as long as there was never again any mention on Nani as part of the deal

Surely there are youth players at United who can do what those two can? Maybe in the under 12s squad? Wink

Southampton basically already bought Lallana replacement in Dusan Tadic. Very creative, most chances created in Eredivisie most seasons & considerably cheaper than Lallana.

Post by Kurt N. Jurqa Tue Jul 01, 2014 5:11 pm

I think Nani will be one to go certainly, would love to see Young follow him out of the door but I don’t think it will happen just yet (next window hopefully after being frozen out of first team then offloaded back to Villa etc). Take those two out and there’s still ‘wide’ options of Januzaj, Valencia, Mata, Kagawa, Welbeck, Rooney and possibly upgrading a youth player to the full squad such as Pereira, the issue with most of those are they’re playing out of preferred position and makes us narrow.

Chicarito may as well go and use him potentially as bait for a bigger catch, he’s got a decent rep still in Europe and has the potential to be a very good striker for a Spanish side etc.

There’s a number of wide players we’ve been linked with including Sanchez, Di Maria, Robben, Depay, De Boetius, Rodriguez and probably a few more that don’t immediately spring to mind.  I think we’ll buy one (I’m hedging towards Depay due to the Netherlands link).

Striker wise is a concern for me which is odd as it’s one on paper we’re strong in. With two main options in RVP & Rooney we’ve got two alpha males wanting the main role, both suffer with injuries, both have real dips at times. If one’s out for a while and the other is suffering for form it leaves Welbeck who if he scored 10 a season would be a good season for him and James Wilson who shone in his debut with a brace and got POTY for the youth team but it’s still a big step up. Attracting a striker in to play 3rd option is not an attractive option though.

Centre mid there’s Carrick and Fletcher, both of which aren’t what they were and the loyalty to Fletcher due to his illness may be forgotten with LVG coming in, both again can do an ample job still for many a side in the Premier League so if an offer came in for either I don’t think they’d be stopped from going. Fellaini will be given a season to prove himself.

Overall I think these will be the merry go rounds at OT:

Out:

Nani, Bebe, Anderson, Zaha, Carrick, Chicarito

In:

Vidal or Carvalho – think they’ll go in for Vidal but end up with Carvalho, Strootman in January, Depay, De Vrij.

I reckon that's about right although however much I'd love to see Vidal at OT I just can't see them luring him from Juve. Suspect he will go to Bayern once Kroos goes to Real.

With Martins Indi going to Porto I wonder if Utd may try and get long term City target Mangala.

What I love about the Vidal rumours and it must be made up is that he would prefer joining us because he wants a season off from the champions league.

Very injury prone player, when he's fit he's excellent but gets hamstrings constantly and was out for quite some time just over a year ago with a collapsed lung.

Siem is going to play in the hole, more like a 10. We are still after a striker, I don't expect Siem to bang anywhere near 15 goals, he`s more of a creator.

Apparently Ian Ayre has flown to Spain this morning for talks with Barcelona, if we can still get a good price for Suarez and possibly a player in return I'll be happy.

Sadily the talk this morning is that if he does go we'll use the money to try and sign Balotelli. It's losing one trouble maker and signing another, what's the point!

Loftus Road.

If there's some poopie out there for exorbitant money, we'll have a piece of it. £10m for McCormack? We'll give them £15m. Upfront. And a sell on clause. Of 125%. And first dibs on our entire squad when we're relegated.

And we'll buy Nani. £35m do? Although we'd end up with Nanny McPhee.

That's a very interesting move for the young man. He started the season well but really flagged towards the end, probably because of his lack of physique. It's good to see him leave the booze culture in Scotland for abroad and I wish him all the best. I hope Utd have a sell-on clause in there.

Surprised none of the English Premier League sides didn't go in for Gauld 'the Scottish Messi'. Good move though for Gauld, goes to a team in which he can improve his technical abilities and they already have a very good English defender called Eric Dier to assist him in bedding in.

Woah, woah, woah. Stupidest moves? I give you two words to put that in perspective, and we haven't even started yet...

Would you like Fellaini and Cleverly? We'd chuck in Ashley Young too!
