Bryson signs a 5 year deal off Derby, staving off interest from Burnley and QPR http://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/article/craig-bryson-signs-a-new-five-year-contract-with-derby-county-1715004.aspx#ZrQKCgD3fsYJ5Z5r.99

From what I've seen of him he's a poor mans Leighton BainesDolphin Ziggler wrote:Sorry Chops, looks like your boy is ours as all the French media are saying our deal with the Nice lad (a nice lad I hope) is off. Wonder if he'll make the step, thoughts?
I think he's decent tbf, good solid signing

Also Norwich and Bournemouth have had bids accepted for Coventry's Callum Wilson believed to be 3m
I'd imagine that signals the end for one of Hooper/RVW

+ Simeon Jackson
Debuchy has removed his NUFC player reference from his twitter account - deal done to Arsenal. Think that's a poor signing for Arsenal, he's pretty average.

Grant Holt masks all of them!!
On a more serious note its expensive, but then we can afford to spend a little more atm. And I'd always rather we signed young players from the lower leagues than Prem castoffs, just a personal belief

Spurs and Arsenal have been linked with him for years. Everton got their wrists slapped for an illegal approach. Pearce said we'd only sell our young players for stupid money.

He'll be a PL player at some point, but he knows playing is better than a PL bench or reserves for development.

And his level is higher than a shambles like QPR that have spent more time in the Championship than PL in the last 5 years. Why stake your big chance on them.

Hopefully he sticks to that GSC, I think half of the problems with our youngsters is they move on too soon and end getting stuck warming the bench or playing for the reserves.

I hope they lose him because it's a bit of a blow to promotion rivals, but on the other hand it would be nice for him to realise he could further his career by staying a bit longer with Forest.

Everyone has a price. Pearce will have first hand experience of what happens to bright stars who end up warming the bench at a critical time though.
Don't think we sell him this year. Darlows more likely to be sold and loaned back since we have De Vries.

To be fair, there's plenty of 'next big things' from all over the world that moved to big clubs as teenagers thinking they'd be the next Messi, and then fell off the face of the Earth. Just look at how Rossi and Pogba had to flee Old Trafford to salvage their careers. It's not just English kids that don't get a chance in the PL, and it's not just English people that don't like how many foreign kids are in English acadamies.Derbymanc wrote:I think half of the problems with our youngsters is they move on too soon and end getting stuck warming the bench or playing for the reserves.

Oh I don't doubt it LB but it seems to have become a particular trait that the 'big' teams hoover up the young talent and try and get them on the cheap if they've missed one. I can't remember where I read it but there was a brilliant article on NUFC who had kind of given up on finding top english talent as the minute they started to show signs other clubs swooped in for peanuts.
A similar things happened in the womans game where a lot of girls/womens teams had to shut down as certain clubs came in and took any half talented player as the womens game looks like taking off.

Yeah, I was making the same point, just pointing out that they're hoovering from everywhere. It's just that people tend not to notice, because so many of the ones that stayed behind abroad end up in the league, while the lower leagues are largely overlooked.Derbymanc wrote:Oh I don't doubt it LB but it seems to have become a particular trait that the 'big' teams hoover up the young talent and try and get them on the cheap if they've missed one.

So, we missed out on Gomis, Lasogga signs for Hamburg & now Lacazette's agent says his client wants Champions League football. We are now linked with Carlos Bacca of Sevilla. Doubt he'd join us, not after his season last year. Not looking too good on the striking front at NUFC.
Also, Micah Richards wages are too high for us.

Liverpool have had an £18 million bid for Lovren rejected. Silly money to be spending on another centre back. Maintain that throwing money at the defence won't solve the problems.

£63m would be surprising, not sure I`d believe that after earlier reports of around £72m wasn't it?

BBC are reporting that they'll meet the release clause, somewhere between £70 and £80m.

As long as Suarez never darkens the door of English football ever again, I shall be a relieved fellow.
He'll be right at home in La Liga, a league rife with cheating.

Apparently Debuchy to Arsenal is 7.5/8m and not the 11m previously expected.

Reports out of Turin claiming Juventus have agreed a £40n fee with Manchester United for Arturo Vidal.

After talks with Micah Richards broke down over wages, Newcastle now setting their sights on Daryl Janmaat, as the replacement for Debuchy. We're going Dutch people, we're going Dutch!
All I'm hearing is United are preparing to launch a £40m fee for Vidal, that is the price Juve have asked for. Bayern also looking to make a move for him.

Newcastle apparently after Bosnian international Anel Hadzic for around £2m. Not sure what to make of that.
Serge Aurier could now be on his way to Monaco.

I would take a guess that Vidal is the number one target but we know if they doesn't come off we have Carvalho as a back up option, for the prices being quoted there's no real decision to make.
Vidal would offer so much flexibility to our midfield that our problems there would be solved in one fowl swoop, against the bigger teams he'd play in front of the defence and against the so called weaker teams he'd go more box to box. Don't think it's overplaying his abilities to say he can do it all, well he's not a creator but he's destructive in both defence and attack.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Don't think that formation would work for us, too many players fighting for three positions; Kagawa or Januzaj would need to be integrated into the first 11.

We've been linked and I know we have definitely enquired, but whether we'll go further on him I don't know. Prices getting a bit rich for someone who could do a classic "one tournament wonder, next day dud." Linked with Serge Aurier too, but that isnt happening. When you see Monaco linked with a player then I instantly lose interest.

Victor Valdes failed a medical at AS Monaco and therefore they have terminated the 4 year deal he had signed.
Valdes claims the contract is set in concrete...
Barcelona are allowing Valdes the use of their training facilities until he finds another club.
Shame for Valdes as he's a quality GK.
