got to agree with others that lallana is a poor deal for that amount, he's probably slightly above average and is at his peak. for that amount of money on the continent you could get the likes of a Rodriguez or Sanchez who are levels and levels above lallana who hasn't even established himself in a very poor england side

I've never seen the fuss with lalana at all.

Lot of money for someone who is tidy on the ball but a but meh at quite a lot of things and not great at anything.

Does he even make the starting xi for Liverpool?

You got Gerrard, Henderson in cm, sterling, coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge as the front four

25m is an awful lot for a rotation player

Possibly not.

Stupid of Rodgers strengthening ahead of a CL and PL campaign.

I'm being facetious of course! I'm happy with the signing and it's not like the money came out of my pocket.

Suarez will be gone soon anyway.

Southampton being gutted anyway.

Being in a team finishing 9th makes you amazing apparently.

Anyway midfielder and left back done and done for united, just need a centre back to make it a brilliant window.

Not sure about de virj but if lvg wants him fair enough.

Strengthening yes, but for that sum of money surely you'd want to be strengthening the starting eleven, not merely adding another body to the squad????!!

Van Gaal will want the title, I want top 4, anything else is a bonus. An FA cup win would also be brilliant, haven't won that for a decade now. Too long for me.

Van Gaal can think again then. Top 4 at best.

Massive rebuilding job at Old Trafford. Could take a while.

Completely agree. Van Gaal is a very ambitious and backs himself to succeed. As a fan, with the right signings, we can get back in the top 4. We've made an excellent start with shaw and herrera and they'll be the first of many for me. Ship out some of the rubbish and bring in some of the youngsters as well and its looking promising again. Its all about finish top 4 next season and getting back in the CL.

Liverpool have the potential to fall away in the Premier League with their extra European commitments, a lack of squad depth, and the Suarez situation.

Arsenal, too, if Arsene doesn't invest in their areas of weakness...centre forward anyone?

A decent chance for United to get back in, particularly with no European nights to hinder them.

think top 4 is easily achievable, are arsenal and perhaps a liverpool without suarez that much better than us? its a clear no

without suarez id expect us to finish above them next season, even if he's stays cant see us being too far off. chelsea and city are the clear favorites after that nothing much between and a good season in the league for us would be third

Last years squad was top 4 minimum.

Now got 60 million worth of midfielders, 37 million creative player and 30 million left back.

Got rid of the cancer that set the club back half a decade so 3rd is likely.

Not surprised we didn't offer him the wages, although we spent alot of time & effort on this deal. As I think DZ said, NUFC will be in serious trouble, if we don't bring in a quality striker. If Bony & Gomis can work together, that is a partnership that frightens you physically. Be interesting to see how Gomis goes, although he's 29 now, so not a massive long term option.

As for Lallana, don't get that deal & that price. Plenty of proven no.10's around Europe with his ability & champions league experience. Rodgers has got some fascination with trying to make Liverpool 'the people's team' nowadays, with all this English talent. I think if they lose Suarez, then BR is going to have a struggle on his hands next season for top 4.

You don't add 70 million pounds worth of players to a championship winning squad and become top 7 minimum.

I expect us to be in the top four again this season.

We'll make the top four without any problem this season, we get a world class centre back and possibly a ball winning midfielder for the big games then our front four will cause anybody problems.

Herrera may not be Pirlo or Xavi but he's very good at spreading the play and dictating the pace of the game, he's also got a fine engine as is the must of any Bilbao player. Strengthening the defence, having a midfield that can dictate a game and our attacking prowess we'll have the third best squad in the league something we arguably had anyway.

If we perform at our ceiling then Arsenal and Liverpool will be left behind fighting for fourth, the only chance they had and continue to have is the hope we're crap again.

They were properly close this year. And they had a proper injury list, one that goes further than just "well, it happens".

And Liverpool were what, 30 points ahead of you last year? But an 18 year old left back and a neat midfielder have filled the gaps in your side?

Since we won the league we've brought in Mata, Herrera, Shaw and promoted Januzaj to the first team all four of who improve the team. Since then we've lost Ferdinand and Vidic who were past their bests anyway, we bring in a centre back and the team is improved once again but arrogant to suggest an improved squad can't replicate the team of 2012/13.

No DZ, Moyes is entirely responsible for Evra, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Carrick, Nani, Young, Welbeck, Cleverley, Valencia all being spectacular average (at best).

United walked a terrible league where the only 2 challengers imploded under their own power

Lambert and Shaw out so far, Lallana following them out the door, Rodriguez injured and strong speculation surrounding Lovren and Schneiderling, I think they're pretty screwed.

Well we will see this year won't we?

Evra probably had a better season last year than the year before, he's just on the slide and we've brought in a (very expensive) replacement for him.

No one is saying we will win the league but we should make top 4.

Liverpool have Europe this year to cope with and no Suarez ether at all or until late October.

Liverpool getting better and your players getting worse certainly contributed.
No DZ, Moyes is entirely responsible for Evra, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Carrick, Nani, Young, Welbeck, Cleverley, Valencia all being spectacular average (at best).

United walked a terrible league where the only 2 challengers imploded under their own power

we walked the league with a massive points total with the same so called average players, talk about rivals all you want but we still won majority of our games and even if i team was a major challenge i cant see them beating the 89 points we got. could easily turn it around and say city only won the league this season gone because there only challenger was Liverpool who couldn't defend to save their life. chelsea had a poor season as well as us.

we weren't no world beaters in 2012-13 but we could grind out results like all great championship winning sides, tactics were also pretty simple. very tough to beat and had the fire power to win us games

Koeman will bring in his targets, who will probably be foreign & more gifted than Lambert & Lallana anyway. They will be fine.

And Liverpool were what, 30 points ahead of you last year? But an 18 year old left back and a neat midfielder have filled the gaps in your side?

we were nearly 30 points ahead of them the season before so whats your point? you trying to suggest that where we finished under moyes was a fair reflection of the squad. give me a break, he'd still be in a job if that was the case!

YES! That squad is horse sh!t. If RVP didn't bang in goals you would never have won the league that year. You've needed a ball winning midfielder for about 9 years. You're right back options are crap. If Rio and Vidic were already over the hill you've now got completely eff all at centre back.

Moyes being inexperienced is a convenient device to sweep the squad quality under the carpet.

I would think Suarez will be gone anyway Ent, lots of talk in Spain that it's a cash plus player(s) offer from Barca which I would take, especially if one of those players is Sanchez.

if my aunt had b0llocks she'd be my uncle, if yaya didnt pull city through this season, if suarez hadnt scored all those goals Liverpool wouldn't have been up there. if lampard hadnt scored all those goals for you you might not have won the title. the fact is we had a world class CF and we played to him

we will see this season how rubbish our squad is, i can guarantee its better than 7th

I think we will do alright.

Herrera is a good player and should add a lot to our weak midfield.

Other players will be determined to put last years nightmare behind them.

We really, really need a centre half though.
